I’m finding out that losing in competitive doesn’t take away your valor win streak bonus, but it does break it your streak far as the emblem that tracks your steak is concerned. I hate it.
So I’m at work and only have time to skim the TWAB but what I’m gathering is TLDR we nerfed the Drifter too?
Basically since Drifter isn't the focus of this season they don't want a lot of the weekly goal bounties to come from him (read: they want to make sure there aren't too many powerful rewards possible) so they will only be "powerful" up to a max of 720. So one would assume that the 2 or 3 powerfuls (or the equivalent of) that Drifter had will move over to being offered by Benedict.

They're going to lower the effect of the Drifter bounties, not remove them.

What's the point of being outraged on this one? They did the same thing to Black Armory bounties when that season was over. They're not worthless, just not the best source for big gains anymore.
Nerf? No bounties currently take you over 700. I don't think Bungie deciding that certain existing bounties won't give large rewards after 720 is a nerf. Every expansion there are activities that no longer give top-tier rewards all the way to the new max. The same thing happened with the Dreaming City bounties.
Gambit Bounties
We didn’t want rewards from The Drifter to be one of the primary sources of power following his run as the central character for Season of the Drifter
As a result, Power boosts received from Gambit Bounties will decrease once you’ve achieved 700 Power
They will decrease even further once you reached 720 Power

That's...what I said? I was just pointing out that where Drifter used to offer you bounties that would be powerful all the way to cap that will no longer be the case and now those comparable bounties will be with Benedict.
I assume it'll be exactly like all the sources of powerful rewards in the game. They have a cap and after that cap they will end up only as +1 or the like.

I’m being facetious. Mainly because it’s incredibly tone deaf after last week to announce 3/4 Eververse changes and raid stuff for streamers
"Life before death, strength before weakness, journey before destination."

Dont worry guys, those buffs to underperforming exotics are coming any day now.
The PvP population has gotten so low that I think I'm out until next season. Connections are all over the place, everyone is a savage or clueless, I'm not having a great time.

Luna is pretty good though, so there's that.
That has been my basic problem with PvP for the majority of the season (and one of the reasons I didn't play 90% of the season). It really isn't fun to go into Crucible and play against the exact same handful of guns/class. Are some of the great? Yes. Are some of them bad in spite of the weapons they have? Yes. Is it boring no matter which circumstance? Yes.
When I played Banner last week to work on my Thorn progress I had multiple games where my deaths would come only from : Luna, Not Forgotten, Recluse, Outbreak (cause it was new), Dust Rock Blues and an honorable mention for Wardcliff Coil. Spectral Blade Hunters were probably 70% of the population, 25% were warlocks and the other 5% was Titans. Which made the Titan kills section a tedious slog.
It doesn't matter if I know how to counter or even if I can counter these load outs, they are boring as fuck to play against when that is the only thing 90% of the population is using. Now I don't know what the current percentage of players are that have any of the Crucible pinnacle weapons - as I know they made it some what easier to get with bonuses and what not. But I am going to assume it probably shouldn't be 75% + of each Crucible lobby. Which has to mean the PvP population has distilled into some kind of hate filled simulacrum composed of Sweat and Salt.
Yeah, if Destiny 2 is seriously gonna go for another year the PvP needs a serious injection of reasons to play/balance tweaks. I've pretty much fallen off completely thanks to no Trials, and somehow general PvP has become more stompy than Comp. I don't know what they can do other than move swiftly on to Destiny 3.
At this point in the season most people have already finished their grinds and so it's just people fucking around or people going for their NF or a few stragglers still trying to finish up at the last minute or something. In comp anyway.
QP has been a shitshow full of people using their pinnacle weapons on a bunch of poor casual players for awhile now. Comp is actually less sweaty half the time.
yeah as someone who isn't all that into pvp or very good at it, i love getting killed by recluse every 20 seconds. at least i don't see LH or NF as much anymore? i guess?
I was a week behind and so just did the "Death" invitation this week. For people who stayed on schedule, did it just go back to the beginning this week? To stay a source of powerful engrams?

The wandering DLC bosses that will just chain-murder you as you try to complete a low level event are awful, huh.
Putting aside the anti-fun 'Guess I'll log out until the salt fades' aspect of getting one-shot by enemies while trying to do level-appropriate content, I'm not sure it's great from a marketing perspective to let players see that (part of) what they get from the DLC is...the ability to kill boring identical enemies in old environments, but with bigger numbers.
edit: To elaborate further on this. First thing I did in this game after the tutorial stuff was the EDZ adventure where you're placing the communication boosters. It tells me 'Go this way' across the bridge, but that way is blocked by an invulnerable Servitor that keeps one-shotting me. So I wander confused for a good 15 minutes before I realize yes, that WAS the correct direction.
That's one of those things people asked for to come back from Destiny 1: the ability to stumble into something that was too high for your current level.

I dont think I’ve ever seen anyone express any desire for that to return.
It was a nostalgia request from people pining for the days when they were leveling in D1, went the wrong way in the Cosmodrome, and got beat to shit. I definitely remember some of those people being happy about getting wasted by the Wanted enemies added to the old zones during the week they existed before Forsaken launched and were too high level to solo. They want that "oops, I'm not supposed to be fighting this right now, I'll come back and destroy it when I'm stronger" feeling, similar to the Fel Reaver from WoW's TBC expansion.
i only really remember running into the one on titan, and my friends and i called him mister one-shot. it was nice to be able to come back and blow him the hell up.

They could bring back Trials, but it wouldn't be the same.

Mostly because I was so sick of Gambit from Forsaken, so it's on me
But a shame I never got anything that powerful from them before they got trashed

They're not being trashed. They won't give lower rewards than currently. They'll actually give top tier rewards even higher than currently, up to 720.

Buff info is coming as part of next week’s update (along with pinnacle weapon previews) according to Cozmo.
The it looks like the decided to go bad news->House-keeping news->good (hopefully) news in the 3 weeks leading up to the content drop.

Apparently that was during the Revelry.

In context it can't be determined if you're suggest it as a solution, suggesting that it exists, or simply pretending to be Canadian.
With hand cannon targeting.
There's just no more invitations to be bought.
