I’d be happy with less overall heavy spawns in a match if they went back to the old way of teammates also getting some if they were close enough

Otherwise I pretty much agree with Datto. Roaming supers can go way too long (especially spectral, juggernaut, and bot dawnblade), I’m down with getting less ammo back from scavenger perks, and orbs should probably give less/no super gain.

I’d also add that OEM might need a cooldown timer or be harder to activate. Thank god I don’t have a plasma anymore, or I would have had “Marked for Vengeance” burned into my screen after my 200+ matches this season.

I wonder if maybe the solution to roaming supers is to give them longer duration but less attacks. So in PvP you can kill fewer people without the overall super being too short to be usable.

I would say no, because I never want to be killed by the same roaming super activation twice.

Like look how they nerfed nova warp. Hits to overall duration and increased drain to use abilities. If they want to keep the supers gaining energy on kills, it needs to be super punishing if you aren’t getting them.

Look at the 2nd place roamers (hammers, sentinel, storm): these aren’t hated on nearly as much because you can’t extend them without using exotics, or weird mechanics. Stormtrance going long requires you to wait for your nade and melee to come back up, and be using a particular exotic. Hammers have to run bot tree and root themselves, and sentinel has to use a particular exotic (plus wonky hit detection). You have to fully commit to using these to their full potential and will suffer in other areas.

The big 3 roaming supers you can run the good general exotics (OEM, Steps, Stompees) in addition to having long, spammable supers. So you have to constantly deal with the Titan who can see you through walls AND will melee spam to move during their super

Nova Warp is garbage now though.

The two things the bad roaming supers have in common are: hard to get kills with and/or short duration. That's the big things that drag supers down. And supers kinda need to be, well, super. I think you need to address at least one of those issues to make people use them but without making a monstrosity that never ends.

A good way to make that happen I think is to make using the super to kill a big drain but rebalance the base duration of the super to even that out. This means you can more easily control the number of kills each super gets. You lower the ceiling on number of kills but raise the floor. You can keep extra super energy on kill perks and it will end up being more about getting more time to get into position for another kill them getting a ton more kills. You also make them easier to counter by making spamming studies for extra mobility very costly.

Maybe you get killed by the same super twice, but now instead of it being because they killed your whole team twice it's because they killed you, then ran around finding nobody, then killed you again.

I kinda want the roaming super to be garbage as opposed to what we have right now.

Nova Warp I think just needs to have a slight larger diameter on the uncharged blast. people can be way too close and just running away at normal speeds and there's nothing you can do without expending tons of energy dashing (and then the hit detection might fuck you)

OEM could lose any one perk and still be among the best in the game. It shouldn't fully heal, and give an overshield, AND give bonus damage. Either tweak the healing/shield perk to work like Wormhusk does now, or remove the damage bonus. It'll still be great and be a huge pain in the ass, but less like "I must run this at all times"

Beyond even that - one of the issues is that even if you change it, it will be the top exotic used on a Titan because they don't really have any generally useful PvP exotics. They have exotics that can be useful in very specific circumstances but nothing that gives some sort of passive QoL boost (outside of Armamentarium and Synthos maybe). Hunters and Warlocks both have several viable PvP altering exotics depending on your subclass - Titans mostly just have OEM. Make some other quality exotics and things would even out better, even after nerfing OEM again.

I dunno, it really sounds like they want to play a different game that is not Destiny. Got my blue set, blew the silver I had from someplace or other on the void ornaments. Blue to purple requirements look hilarious. "Do it all again, times 10."

I love using synthoceps on my Titan, it completely fits my style, but I have a much better time in PvP when I'm using my warlock. There are a very few really viable options for Titans, where warlock had tons and as a lapsed Titan main it feels bad.

I just throw on the skullfort and run around shoulder charging. Sad is the time when you shoulder charge another titan at the same time they charge you and your melee doesn't reset. I was charging some poor hunter the other night when another striker on my team charged him before me and killed him, but my charge instead made me take a hard right around a large pillar and kill some warlock hiding that I didn't even know was there. It was almost as bullshit as running past some fire knives hunter and having them throw past you, and still kill you.

Last night I had a fun time in rumble while doing the green to blue armor unlock. I had gotten that orange-ish shotgun whose name I can't recall with hip fire and whatever else. I found that if I just spent the match jumping as high as I could as a warlock and drifting down on top of people, I could shotgun and then melee finish them. It was suprisingly effective, and I wound up getting "The sum of all tears" triumph as a result.

OEM is the best class neutral PVP exotic for Titans, I think that's unquestionable.

But there are others that remain damn powerful as well that can work with the right playstyle.

Skullfort can do work in Quick Play where people are more vulnerable to Shoulder Charge. Added bonus of people tilting at Shoulder Charge.

Ursas are past their prime, but you can still use them to bait and eliminate enemy supers and restore a huge chunk of your own, essentially turning you into a bodyguard. Hunters don't expect you to Survive Blade Barrage, Novawarpers don't understand why you haven't dissolved in a purple glow, it's pretty hilarious. Since enemies think they suck now, they are more willing to shoot them.

Synthoceps are delightful in making Melee feel like D1. Combined with Code of the Missile you sometimes get extreme murder, or top tree Sentinel you become near unkillable punching god. However, like Ursas they are probably past their prime, as their best time was before they put radar back in Comp.

Doomfangs in the right hands can turn the early momentum of a match, particularly in Competitive. You can get a super well before anyone else. It's best on bottom-tree Sentinel for enhancing the actual super, but if you can get a melee-kill with top tree Sentinel, you then switch to Alpha Lupi, create a bubble, and suddenly your whole team has supers about 30-45 seconds before the enemy team and GG badguys.

Peregrine Greaves make people like Booker a holy terror. True Vanguard posted a hilarious video of him just deleting supers with it recently as well, so I anticipate you'll see a slight uptick in usage. I just wish I had a pair.

I also just say this because I weaned myself off of OEM and I don't want to go back to it.

My only issue with any of the melee related exotics are the prevalence of shotguns on almost everyone means that they are swingy at best. Depending on latency and other factors there are many times you get shotgunned when the person looks like they have Neo in the Matrix like abilities to get you.

My only complaint about TrueVanguard's video (which I enjoyed) is that he interspersed clips of the Peregrine Greaves along with using the Armamentarium for double suppressors. So because of the way the clips look sometimes its like he constantly has double suppressors and magically killing supers with a normal shoulder charge.

i just returned from Vanilla. Osiris and Warmind campaigns are available, but you have to buy Forsaken expansion ( i think ) to get into the raid stuff that everyone else is doing right now

but also the Forsaken campaign is really good, like one of the best stories in Destiny so far IMO

Yeah, a lot of these focus on melee which can be finicky. It fits Titans for aggro in your face violence, however. And while there are other options that are more Neutral (Inmost Light, Mask of the Quiet One, Alpha Lupi), they seem less overall useful and definitely less of a contender than OEM. I suppose the best other option may be Armamentarium (particularly on Sentinel), or you could make Peacekeepers work if you lean heavily into Recluse and… something else.

I wish Feedback Fences were more useful. Maybe there would be some exploration space there.

I think if you're looking for something that is less melee/in-yo-face dependent, you're probably also better served with Warlock, which obviously doesn't solve the overall problem. I think there could be more to explore in line of playing with barricades, but in general it's not playing to the archetype as much.

That feels less like "the best part" and more like "straight up cheating." Keyboard and mouse unassisted vs assisted controller play is at least in the same ballpark. Keyboard and mouse WITH aim assist can fuck right off.

This has been my wish that nobody else cares about for a while but the animation for putting up a Titan's barricade needs to take about half as long as it currently does. There's no good way to use it aggressively in PvP or even reactively half of the time because you get killed before you can put it up. I think it was born in the year one ttk model and needs to be sped up; think about how much more hilarious Khepri's Horn would become if barricades deployed faster.

I played a bit monday for the first time since...the first day of Season of the Drifter (and then before that a month or so).

    So. fucking. much. to. do.

Which is not a bad thing! It's just overwhelming. Solstice just compounds that.

Anyway, question about the solstice gear/upgrades, since I haven't logged in to look at anything this week.

Last year, iirc, the solstice gear, once upgraded, was at the light cap (I believe? I might have already been there, but I don't believe so...); is it the same this year? This is important! Because I'm current well behind the curve on light, the 690 blues didn't help much as shards are still my weak point (apparently the banshee dailies help a lot, but I only had 12 going into monday so...:rotate: ), Menagerie was fucking miserable at 691, and it really shouldn't even let you queue at that light, and I'm unsure about my time availability during the Solstice event. I believe the cap light solstice gear was kinda a gimmie since Forsaken was around the corner, and maybe they're doing the same here?

EDIT: the eververse store is now unimaginably poorly designed. It is just a clusterfuck of stuff. It's totally unclear how you can acquire these things, if they come from engrams or not. It seems there's only the y1 engram, so all the current season stuff is bought entirely via silver/dust? That's...really shitty. Like, unbelievably shitty.

Well this season everything is exotic. I think that's the way things are going to go.

You're going to need to be choosey about the stuff that you get. It's a bit of a culture shock going from gotta collect them all in the last 2 years but I think it's going to be better overall. There was a shitload of stuff in the engrams that was basically bad luck lootbox filler, and if we're honest there were a lot of exotics even that are a bit mweh depending on your aesthetic tastes. I'm hoping they'll stick to offering everything for bright dust eventually (though doesn't quite look like we're going to get through everything available this season before Shadowkeep which is unfortunate).

So long as we don't get back to a state where we have people being elitist with their fancy shit while all the "peasants" do not. I think keeping everyone at the same level in that respect has been somewhat refreshing. I've never particularly enjoyed in games where it feels like there's a tiering of rich vs. poor with buyable cosmetics.

Meh, they need a better designed storefront then. Or maybe finally do something about the absurd loading times on consoles. Or whatever.

I can't tell if there are any Solstice engrams. I can tell that they give out way more packages than they need to based on keys.

It's a step towards getting rid of lootboxes and returning to the D1 model of "buy what you want [with real money]"

Which may push them to not produce so much Eververse content? Because who tf will pay Silver for every single shitty ghost shell and purple sparrow they make?

Meh, they need a better designed storefront then. Or maybe finally do something about the absurd loading times on consoles. Or whatever.

I can't tell if there are any Solstice engrams. I can tell that they give out way more packages than they need to based on keys.

In EAZ, what difference does it make how many bosses you kill? It doesn't seem to have much effect on anything. Also, is the only reward for getting all the chests at the end the extra (2) keys? :rotate:

EDIT: my "Spoils of War" bounty keeps resetting. Is that common?

There are no Solstice Engrams. Everything from the event is available for direct purchase using either Silver or Bright Dust. They're on a rotation, and everything should be available at some point.

The number of minibosses you kill in the EAZ is equal to the number of chests that spawn after you kill the final boss. Can't tell you about the rewards for opening all chests, since I've never accomplished that.

EDIT: Describe "reseting" on your Spoils of War bounty. The progress returns to 0 or the something else?

Yeah, I got it to 15% earlier then it was down to 0%.

I've got it back at 6% so we will see what happens I guess.

EDIT: the armor is like last year, I assume; in that you only need the piece equipped that you're currently working on at the moment, and that orbs drop as long as one is on? I.E. i finished my helmet, so I can go back to skullfort while working on others?

Never experienced that or heard of it happening. Sounds bizarre. That bounty takes for-fucking-ever

EDIT: Your assumption about the armor is correct

Huh, I can't find anyone to matchmake with for Bergusa Forge. Same thing happened monday. Is no one doing it? I thought with it being a daily bounty for sure someone would. Maybe it's my light level?

    I can't believe nightfalls don't have matchmaking

Is there a good Discord or other similar pick up group

Some days Blue wonders why anyone ever bothered making numbers so small; other days she supposes even infinity needs to start somewhere.

Yeah, tell me about it. Hopefully now that the devs have publicly embraced the 'MMORPG' tag, they'll work in a proper LFG system for NFs and Raids.

Got my blue armor. Wish I'd just done crucible for my green reqs now that I need 10 Gambit matches. Does anybody know if Prime counts?
Plus side, I'll finally finish Breakneck before I finish the blue armor. And that'll get me enough triumphs for my shirt.

I'd really like them to do an integrated LFG system but the chances of that are very low

I want to say Prime counts, but also doesn’t have the elemental orb spawns, so just keep that in mind

Edit: I appear to be wrong! Just regular ol' gambit

I read that prime doesn’t count unfortunately :/

Almost finished my first green armor set. God I’m not sure I want to do this for all 3 characters

Yeah, I'm not doing it. Grind is bad enough on one character, especially with having to fully masterwork at least one set in the time limit for the seal.

  • CatalaseCatalase Registered User regular
Think you just need to masterwork one piece
