I'm in the 'heroes of the wang' channel, is that where I should be?
That's the idea, but if I'm being honest, in the 5 years that I've been playing this game, I don't think I've ever seen someone say a single word in that channel. Just shoot us some bnet requests and we'll help you out.

Whenever i log in to the game the first thing i always do is see if there is anyone in the channel, and if so i say "qm anyone?" and if i think the people i see with rather play draft and in willing to put up with seat that day i say "or whatever".
Sometimes i get a "sure, as soon as I'm out of this game", or the like, but 99% if the time is crickets.
I think at least part of it is that the game by default does not show you custom chat channels if you are playing in a game, you have to explicitly enable it in the settings. The other thing is that there is a setting to ignore communications from people not on your friends list, so you if you have that set, you won't see anything from anyone that's not on your friends list or in your current game.
Lastly, it's been pointed out to me previously that some people don't want to group in PA channel due to wide variety of skills and MMRs present that make for bad games when mixed due to how matchmaker tries to use averages between the two teams and then you get games where your team is a few low and high, their team is all mediums, and those mediums repeatedly kill your lows and get a large xp advantage. In fact it was either @Dibby or @milk ducks (don't remember exactly) that told me this as part of telling me why they didn't want to group with me anymore, some years ago when i was starting out, would rather group with @Inquisitor77 who "knew what he was doing". So ymmv.
Mixed MMR teams can be frustrating for players at either end of the spectrum: the lesser experienced players often end up way over their heads, which isn't fun for them; and the players with higher MMR often end up in matches that they absolutely crush because their opponents simply aren't ready to play against people like them. And that's not fun, either.
Having said that, I don't recall ever telling anyone directly that I didn't want to group with them because their MMR was too low.
That doesn't sound like something I would do. It definitely sounds like a concern I would have, sure, but If those concerns about MMR disparity were enough that I felt like I just wasn't going to have any fun, I'd simply leave the group.
Smrt and I have grouped together in the past few weeks, and I just openly gave my contact information to Oreo, who said he was Bronze ranked. So, if I had an issue grouping with lesser experienced players, I'd be going about proving it in a pretty weird way.
Maybe it was Dibby or Anteus then, it's been a few years.

when you draft the better teamcomp for the map (yes, Unranked! gasp!!!) and you still fucking lose because 3/5 of your teammates are just godawful at the video game
Maybe it was Dibby or Anteus then, it's been a few years.
I don't go out of my way to tell people I think they're shit, if that's what you're insinuating. I avoid playing with people if they have shit attitudes, though. Even then, like ducks I just say ggs and leave the group. There's absolutely no benefit for me to tell someone point blank that I think they're so bad I can't play with them. Plus, it's incredibly toxic behavior.
If you think people are going out of their way to avoid playing with you then perhaps the better question to ask is why that might be the case.
Firebat really just needs to be reclassified as a Bruiser. Blizzard keeps commenting on his low popularity and poor performance compared to other tanks, and buffing him accordingly, but I feel like the "issue" with Firebat would simply go away if they reclassified him to the role everyone played him as.

So it's definitively pilots for the mech versions of themselves.

wasn't the entire point of the role rework was to provide better clarity to certain heroes' role/function and to dispel confusion about "warrior = tank"
i'm just saying if they're going to classify Blaze as a Tank, then they need to put in the effort and actually make him an MT. or just realize and accept that they failed at that, reclassify as a bruiser, which he is, and call it a day?

Blaze is the Chen of tanks. If you buff him too much then he becomes oppressive.

I remember i used to group a lot with you back then, we probably has similar times we logged on/off. Ducks or Dibby (again, it's been a while) would sometimes come in later and join up. Then, one of the three told me I'm really bad at the game (not entirely wrong back then, it was my first and only MOBA and I'm not exactly a spring chicken either), they'd like to win some games for a change, and they'll going to group with the other two only.
Since then i don't think I've played a game with you unless someone else made the group, you were in the group, and then that other person invited me into it. And in those games i feel then obligated to pick a comfort pick to show i no longer suck, and we still end up losing for some reason ir another and then you gg out right after.
So i guess i either still suck or have a terrible personality, is what you're saying.
you appear to have a blaze mt for 2 squishy backline carries
unsure about better comp
we would've been fine if we just played the map, but Blaze kept running in 1v5, Azmo kept going off on his own and getting ganked (and offering *amazing* excuses such as "i was clearing bot" "well i was right next to the gate" and "well i dunno what you guys were doing"), and Valla had NO concept of proper positioning
so no, i think we could've easily won that one because all we had to do was play the map and win the race each time
Maybe it was Dibby or Anteus then, it's been a few years.

Well I'm really sorry you had that experience, and I can't say that I'm perfect, but I don't think I've ever told anyone point blank to their face that they suck and that I don't want to play with them because they suck. That just strikes me as out of character, given my default position is to just say gg and leave, which takes much less effort and has the added benefit of not being asshole behavior. (And also because skill level is not the primary factor in why I play with people.)
As an example, prior to this you did that thing where you accused people of having a cool kids Discord when it was nothing of the sort, and people (especially Dibby, I might add) bent over backwards to assure you otherwise when my default position was to not respond at all.
Right now I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish. It looks to me like you're pointing to an entire group of people and calling us all assholes in public based on your admittedly-vague recollection of the behavior of one of us (if that). That approach is not going to increase my desire to change your opinion of me.
The conversation that happened at the time rubbed me the wrong way and continues to run me the wrong way any time i see a PA group form and i feel excluded. Doesn't happen much anymore because I'm barely on anymore. But people were saying heroes of the wang channel is quiet, and i wanted to mention the setting that makes people in games not see the channel and it made me think of that other thing.
Whether you believe the conversation happened it not, it definitely did, whether i recall the exact details now it not. I certainly didn't take screenshots if it at the time, so i guess that means it didn't happen, right?
I'm not trying to accomplish anything specific, other than i guess venting about something that's been bothering me for years (at a low level. Not like it will change in one way or another who groups with whom it whether i have interest to even log in at this point much). People vent in here all the time, it's allowed.
Didn't realize how ready I am for all of HOTS to just go full on anime - take my money for heroes I don't play.
MORE Importantly, Blaze is a fine MT, honestly the biggest thing hamstringing his ability to tank his just perception on what everyone expects the MT to do for them.
If the other team has a bunch of dive your not going to peel everyone out of it; at that point you either need some other bruiser on your team or counter-dive focused abilities - that can be said for a number of tanks.
The oil dispersal change helps a lot to giving him enough mana to sit their in the front and use abilities to slow down the other team consistently. Meltdown is still a great talent to counter any hero that jumps in like illidan.
But pack to perception, bunker is still a great talent to just throw out there at the start of a fight; gives you a couple seconds if your healer isn't watching you; body block the other team, whatever, but the channel time addition messes people up and it isn't a big deal.
I've had teammates not hop in and out of the bunker during a fight because they thought it would take too long; I've also had teammates accidentally get into the bunker when they had no intention of it....in the same game...on comms.
All that said his WR should not be anywhere near that of tanks with point and click abilities - if it was then it would mean that people that used his abilities effectively would be busted. W is a vector target; E can get you into a lot of trouble aimed wrong and requires either setting up a target or predicting their movement; and Q needs to hit heroes to reduce W and trait cooldowns, but not light the oil on fire when you want to restrict enemy movement (most of the time).
Real downside not touched on - his 16 and 20 power spikes are weak, and honestly that's when most games get decided - you really want to get an advantage before you reach those points - most other tanks have something at 16 or 20 that ramp up their potential
Oh is it venting time? I'm so beyond sick of Brawl being AARAMATT (All ARAM All The Time). Frankly the losses and the way my teams go about throwing games are more frustrating than they are in QM. Also it might as well be the same map every week since the differences are so trivial. The only one remotely different is the stupid Volskaya one, and I hate that one the most since playing a North-South map feels shitty in 16:9 and with the UI layout.

the thing holding Blaze back from being an MT are fuckin' chuds using E to engage 1v5 and getting too deep and dying :^)
....er, ahem, shitposting aside,
i dunno. i think Blaze can MT? but it's not great. like ideally you'd just prefer any other MT, especially ones with better/more reliable peel and CC.
he's okay, but he could be better. he's still not where he should be. now, as a Bruiser? yeah he's capable in that role. 2nd tank, off-tank, w/e you wanna call it. but i feel like he has the potential to be an actual good MT, he's just not quite there yet.
I love the carbot animation of like 4 tanks hanging out and Malthael shows up and Anub just burrows through bhb and falls into the water and Blaze bunkers the Malth ult and they close the shades with looks of absolute terror.
