He's undertuned in a weird way that he still can put out high dmg numbers so they can't really tweak that - adding survivability means pulling down dmg numbers at the same time and I don't see them doing that kind of "we have no idea how to balance a hero" type change right after releasing a rework

Buffing shadow walk just makes it the defacto talent at his tier - almost as if it was a required part of his kit...

Quality of life changes like making his q and e quicker make him safer, but also make it a lot easier to nuke someone

Considering his winrate is... Well, the lowest in the game?? I wouldn't exactly worry about needing to nerf his damage to add survivability or other QoL changes. He needs every little bit of help he can get right now. I don't think we need to, yknow, make compromises about buffing this but nerfing that, for example. Also if they do end up pushing him over the edge, it's a lot easier to then scale back damage at that point. I think nerfing someone is always generally easier than buffing someone, especially when it isn't exactly clear on what needs to be done. Generally when nerfing an Assassin though, it's either generally that their damage is too high or their health/survivability is too high. Those are always the places to start. But in terms of buffing someone underperforming and yet is seemingly doing okay in terms of raw sheet stats.... That's tougher.

Also I think a large part of why Shadow Walk's WR is the lowest on that tier is because of the aforementioned cancel protection bug I mentioned. I saw a thread on reddit about it too with several clips, people hit it and then it instantly cancels. Also I mean, Oracle's really good (pseudo-30 Spell Armor is preeeeetty nuts). And if for some godforsaken reason you don't need anything defensive, Feedback is pretty decent too. His 13s actually have a pretty good split in terms of pickrate, there isn't a clear cut winner there.

Tass's damage is certainly not the issue, though, so they should look into QoL stuff first, then survivability. I'd settle for smaller delay on Q and lifesteal at max charge, honestly. Black Hole probably needs higher missile acceleration.

edit: Honestly, more health, too? More health might be fine. Losing the inherent lifesteal/shielding was sort of a big deal for him, like that was a huge hit so giving him more health might actually be a solution as well. Or just, yknow, adding Lifesteal at max charge :V

Probably could hybridize it fairly easily. The cast are all working as holiday help in a toy store, and have to defend it from the brain dead zombie hordes who are convinced that there’s more of the season’s hot toy “Tickle Me Murky” “in the back,” and will do anything to get to them.

Corporate has declared that the store is “essential,” even during a zombie apocalypse, so the doors must stay open.

The tower/fort AI changes are taking some getting used to. They apparently trigger the aggro if you do damage to a hero anywhere, even if they're nowhere near the tower. ie I was playing Junkrat and someone walked into a trap I had left in another lane, which apparently alerts the towers halfway across the map to switch their focus to me despite there being no heroes anywhere nearby. I've had it happen while split pushing too, especially as Vikings, which makes zero sense.

In DOTA 2, you can right click a champ in a different lane, and the mere act of clicking them will cause the tower to shift it's focus to you. People do this as tank heroes to prevent the tower from wiping out the creep wave, instead letting it knock down the building.

today @Inquisitor77 and i ran into a legitimate fuckin' 11-13 y/o in one of our QM games today

we pinged to invade their camp, he runs over to our camp instead (he is Blaze, our sole tank), we get invaded during and die, and he just throws a fucking fit. like a little diaper baby temper tantrum. and literally everyone on our team was like "hey, that was a bad call, dude" and he's FLIPPING OUT and screaming and starts calling us "mentally soft" (lol) and just keeps repeating that over and over. just keeps saying it.

so eventually we're like "bruh how old are you cause this is frankly some embarrassing behavior if you're an adult" and he's just like

    "I'M 65"

"I BANG ALL THE CHICKS IRL"

"AND MURKY'S MOM I BANGED HER TOO" (antaeus was on Murky, for the record)

all this over telling him that he made one wrong call

and so we're just cracking up in voice chat, like. god what a typical fucking 11 y/o thing to say. just think of the biggest fucking number you can age-wise and then ASSERT DOMINANCE by implying that you have banged "all the chicks"

    never change, QM

Once every few nights I'll be in a game and then suddenly the lag will just spike tremendously for me. It doesn't seem to be a game wide thing since I don't see anyone else complaining. My internet is otherwise fine as nothing else seems to be running like shit while it's happening. Like the game will run for 2 seconds, lag for 2 seconds, run for 2 seconds, lag for 2 seconds. It's completely unplayable while it's happening. Usually after a few minutes it seems to resolve itself.

But it completely ruins the game I'm in and it's infuriating. This didn't used to happen, and I have no idea what's going or how to make this not happen.

I don't know if it's related at all to what you're experiencing, but a few months back I was having an issue where the game would run fine until it would occasionally lag hard for a moment before running fine again. The funny thing was that the lag would literally run like clockwork. I forget the precise time, but for the sake of example let's say that it was a lag spike exactly every 42 seconds. The lag was also present in full bot matches (bot teammates and bot enemies).

Long story short, it was a problem with my nvidia drivers. At the time it was something related to me enabling experimental features for something that I was toying with at the time. But you could try updating or reverting your video drivers to see if that helps.

I'm playing with a group of 4 who refuses to ban any heroes. When I pressed them as to why, the banning guy said that as long as we play well, it doesn't matter what heroes they take. I asked if that was just because we're in Silver and would he ban in Diamond/Masters, and he actually laughed and said no way.

I mean...ugh. At least they're all in voice, not that they listen to my suggestions. :(

Yeah, we won our game with me getting MVP. Typically Rag being OP in low level stuff. I got an invite after where they added another person to make us a 5 stack. We won that game too, with me once again doing Rag things (although no MVP since I died late and had a long death timer).

At least in that second game, they started following my lead....except for the guy who refused to ban. He was on Samuro and was just all over Garden hitting wells and being generally annoying.

Since I've been playing a lot of Rag in SL, I've been wondering if I should start learning his Q or W builds. 99% of the time I just go E build since it seems to wave clear the fastest. But looking over his Q and W builds, I can see how he'd play differently and I should probably learn them to adjust to opposing comps.

The Q build seems to focus him on bullying. The extra damage and healing looks like it really adds up, especially if you can consistently hit 2 heroes for the cooldown reduction. Slow Burn or Catching Fire at 4 though? One slows for easier chasing, the other seems better in team fights. Thoughts?

For the W build, it looks like you'd want to be more of a Mage fighting from ranged. Maybe this build is better if they have lots of range and you can't get close? Overall the build feels, not so (pardon the pun) hot?

Or should I just not worry about it and stick with E build.

    Just go E build.

Q build is in a really bad spot right now and W is extremely matchup specific. The majority of the time you pick rag, you want waveclear and frontline, and E build does that the best.

Q build's good, but it's harder to play than E build, and you can and will get absolutely hosed if you're not confident with your positioning. I still play it every now and then, it performs quite well. The thing about Q build is that honestly it really doesn't come online til 16 (I mean, all Ragnaros builds, but, particularly Q build). Once you get Giant Scorcher though, hoo boy. You start smashing. In general what I try to do is do a hit-and-run playstyle, in that I pop in for a quick Q, get the Giant Scorcher dot rolling, and then back off if it's not safe. If it IS safe, I stay the fuck in there and mash out Qs every 2 seconds. Good build, hard to play, I'd suggest giving it a shot!

W build has never really been suuuuuper great? Some people can make it work, but in general it seems to feel pretty finicky and hard to get value from. I personally think it's pretty weak, ymmv.

E build is all-around good, has good general value, does everything well. It's safe, it's good.

Thanks for all the advice. I think I’ll stick with E build, since I’m not super confident I can make Q build work, and no one wants to soak in Silver.

My last two games were wins with off-brand comps. Like Rexxar as our main Tank in one game and Leoric in another. Both games has a toxic player who was ready to gg right from the draft.

Each game I just ignored first object (Protector and Alterac Riders) and soaked. Teammates get mad, blame me for losing first obj, then feed losing our hard earned XP lead. Thankfully it’s Silver so bad players are on both sides and Lava Wave plus camps does wonders.

It’s like, this game isn’t that hard people. Soak, draft smart, get camps, watch minimap, fight at power spikes. Of course, I’m very guilty of the minimap part so I’m one to talk.

I think Rag's E build has the most burst damage, too. That's how I get kills with him, since it's hard to stay in there most of the time.

I honestly don't think I'd ever pick anything other than the slow on his E at 4. It makes them move at the exact speed of his meatball, which is brutal when you get good at it.

In general though @MNC Dover I am a proponent of tryin' stuff out for yourself just to really get a feel for how stuff works, right? Personally I feel like if you understand why you are or aren't taking talents, that's a lot better than simply telling someone "well just go x build. y and z build are bad". Because it's like, well, yeah, maybe y and z build are bad, but why is that? That's something you should definitely know for yourself. Or perhaps the opposite holds true, maybe they aren't bad! Maybe they actually work quite well. But you'll never know one way or the other without first trying it for yourself, right?

When Tassadar's rework first came out, I tried ALL his builds. Every single one. Pretty much every talent as well, I think. I was able to very quickly identify the strengths and weaknesses of each build, each talent. Some talents surprised me and were a LOT better than I thought they were, some ended up being not as good as I initially thought they would be. And I never would've known if I hadn't tried them all out myself!
