We could unscrew it from the wall, cover up the holes, then put it back after we've shot the scene...

    or...

There are a lot of things wrong with Dany in season 2.

The handrails are the least of their concerns.

Clearly those are Valyrian handrails, wrought in some Arcane and long forgotten process that makes them better than regular handrails

I was planning to rewatch every series during my upcoming four months off for parental leave.

However, this season being so rubbish and my suspicion that the ending will be crap has completely drained any enthusiasm I had.

This series has made the low points of the previous series retroactively worse.

I mean, season two is when they introduced the nonsense that is “Valyrian Stone” so

    Why not

My other theory for the handrails is that Bran has been travelling through time and making Westeros ADA/OSHA compliant.

Which is at least an explanation for all the times he's just staring off and doing apparently nothing.

Aside from his lack of manners it's hard to disagree with the Spice King in this scene.

Even now, Dany is still completely incapable of adapting to how other people see the world. And getting the dragons when she did stopped her from ever learning.

I think I just noticed the worst possible foreshadowing from Ep4
Bran saying he doesn't "want anymore", Varys blabbering about how the best ruler does not want to rule. That's probably the dumbest thing that could happen. So that's probably what it's going to be, huh. King Bran.

    No.
Remember there is the Bran is the Night king theory.

    Night King Bran.

That would be exceptionally stupid, but it does fit in to how few shits they give about the show’s mythology.

    Something I think is fascinating,
At every single point the trainwreck that is the show is ending on, the creators are front and center. They wanted the shorter seasons, they are directing the last episode and writing the last 4, they are doing the inside the episode dvd featurette before the episode can be damaged controlled. It's a murder investigation and trial all at the same time and it is facisnating in a morbid way

If nothing else you have to admire their willingness to not just fall on the grenade, but unzip their pants and drop it into their underwear.

Yeeeah. It will be absolutely 100% on them if the ending is panned. Wonder if Disney has an exit clause for them doing star wars..

They do, guaranteed. Look at what happened during Ant-Man and Solo (more apropos: Trevorrow and EPIX). They kick who they want, when they want

    Spoilers for the next episode
    hf6uk5euzhx21.jpg

Lord Jack will secure a powerful alliance against the Mad Burger King when he weds Lady Wendy. And he has plans to end the feud with House McDonald through a secret alliance with Grimace, who will employ the services of the Hamburglar to assassinate Lord Ronald. Unfortunately, the Burger King will still have the support of House KFC and their powerful army led by the Colonel, the greatest military mind of the realm.

But unbeknownst to all, the Dairy Queen is building a powerful alliance in the east. She has already secured the mercenary naval forces of Long John Silver's. And it is rumored she commands a horde of ravenous creatures from the beastmasters of Chuck E. Cheese. Most troubling of all, she has made a pact with the plaguemancers of Arby's to spread dysentery and cholera among her enemies.

Unbreakable stone existed in the books so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

I feel like that's also in the books. Not named as such, but Valyrian roads look like stone, but definitely don't act like it.

here's the bit, ADWD: "Tyrion knew what he would find: not packed earth, nor bricks, nor cobbles, but a ribbon of fused stone raised a half foot above the ground to allow rainfall and snowmelt to run off its shoulders. Unlike the muddy tracks that passed for roads in the Seven Kingdoms, the Valyrian roads were wide enough for three wagons to pass abreast, and neither time nor traffic had marred them. They still endured, unchanging, four centuries after Valyria itself had met its Doom."

it's not much of a reach from "fused stone" and "valyrian roads" to "valyrian stone"

I'm glad I got my rewatch in just before this season started, I don't think I'd have the stomach to do it again now.

    Also I've been collecting these:

Well, in that case it might not be Valyrian at all

Edit: I guess there should be a distinction drawn between Valyrian dragonstone and the greasy black stone used in a number of much spookier constructions found in that world

It's not always made clear which one is used where

The Drowned God is just Cthulhu.

Also, Valyrian Stone is just like an offhand reference to Roman cement.

Pretty sure it’s the Nightfort. It was the castle of the Night’s King in the books.

Given what kinds of people the Starks have been I honestly found it pretty unbelievable they would tolerate them for so many generations.
