I was really surprised at how tight the UI is for FF XIV. I played it for the first time ever on Saturday on the PC with an Xbox Elite Controller. It’s so good.
RE voice actors - Gideon Emery has also done a lot of video game work, including Balthier in XII and Tactics: War of the Lions, as well as Urangier in XIV until the entire cast changed in Heavensward. He was also Fenris in Dragon Age II.

Boooo, you call those gauntlets? Those gauntlets suck!
So, weapons show up on the character models in this game (and even show embedded Materia).
Tifa's weapons in the classic game were gloves / gauntlets.
I imagine we're getting a ton of glove options for her; the ones we're seeing here would be her crappy starter versions (yes, Cloud and Barret get cool starter weapons, but there's more you can do with those versus a pair of gloves).
It's possible that they changed her weapon slot, but doubtful. For instance, they could make those bracelets the weapon for more subtle (invisible) changes, except then you wouldn't be able to see the slotted Materia.
We saw Barret's gun with embedded Materia, so it's not just the Buster Sword's classic design (which already had the slots).
Interestingly, I don't see any slots in those gloves. I'm guessing that means Tifa can't use magic at the start of the game, which probably means her basic kung fu attacks will be stronger than the other characters' (or some other benefit, like faster movement in battle or a superior defense option - perhaps a timed parry-dodge?). That's the kind of play diversity I was really hoping for!
I could be drawing too many conclusions from too little information, so take this analysis with plenty of salt. Especially the ponderings about Tifa's combat options.

So do we know if it's ever coming to the Switch? Don't fancy buying another console.
Probably not. Aside from PC, which is an almost certainty (if not a simultaneous release), we're still waiting for news of it coming to Xbox. Which has technological parity--which has been an issue on Square-Enix. Spin-offs aside, FFXV and KH3 haven't come to the Switch, and there's no announcement that they are yet. Square-Enix's development priority in this area seems to be: Playstation and Xbox consoles, then PC (no announcement for KH3 on PC, and there was a delay for FFXV coming over). FFXV is in particular as taxing on PS4 (lots of framerate issues) and XB1 (more consistent framerate, but lower resolution and visual quality). The current Switch hardware would pose some obvious challenges, hence the spin-off on Switch.
Of course, by the time the first episode (at least) comes out, we'll have new home consoles. Cross-generation development might make S-E might open to a Switch port once their exclusivity deal with Sony (which we still only know the gist of) is concluded. And eventually, there will be a Switch successor that is much closer to performance to the PS4 and XB1, on top of that.
I don't think we'll see the remake come out on the current Switch. Which isn't so bad, if you consider that 20 years later, we'll still talking about the various Final Fantasy VII re-releases.

Yeah, Jessie and Biggs got real voice actors for some reason. It's everyone else I'm concerned about.
well, not that concerned over Wedge being played by a TV actor (he's Badger from BrBa!) since it's a small part, but that main cast is worrying me and I might take the JP audio if it's on offer.

Hopefully there will be a mod to put in the VA work from the original game when playing in English.

I haven't played FFVII since ~1998, can you please elaborate?
Edit: Oh god damnit that's an Infinity War reference how did I not see that?
Unless they expand the materia range, we're not going to get six colours to go in there, so Soul and Power will go unrepresented.
We had Power! They were the stat augmentation materia.
Oh, right. It's been a while, and I'm still ashamed at my ignorance.
I still don't remember orange, so the universe is still safe.
Orange was the Command Materia color.
But I'm pretty sure there were only 5 total colors? Green (magic), white (meta), orange / gold (command), red (summon), and purple (augmentation).
I guess there's technically Black. God help us if Tifa equips that.
That was yellow, and yes I'm willing to get into a multi-page war over that (no I'm not).
Five equipable colours; blue (support), green (magic), yellow (command), red (summon), purple (augment).
Plus white and black for plot reasons.
If you insist on saying that orange was there, then it's the Mind stone we're missing.

Command was yellow! The Black Materia was technically clear orange on it's field model as the shrunken Ancient Temple tho. During a cutscene it's dark purple.
There are five regular Materia colours (green, blue, red, yellow, purple) and many special ones. Aeris' White Materia was teal. There's a swirly galaxy type Materia in Dirge of Cerberus, don't remember the deets on that.

There's a remake, a full fledged 3D remake of SD3 in 2020, and the collection of mana which will come out later today. Has three games, Final Fantasy Adventure, Secret of Mana, and Trials of Mana.
I'd complain about the cost, but it's three games, one of which I had no (legal) way to play up to now (so therefore have not played it *cough*).
And I have in the past said something like "I will pay full price for these games if they'd just release them", so I guess I either put my money where my mouth is, or embrace my reputation as a liar.
I'm not expecting to buy many new games until November or so, anyway.
I remember reading about and getting hyped for Seiken Densetsu 3 in Nintendo Power in like, 1995. Really can’t believe it got a proper release after all this time.
The Mana gameplay has aged pretty terribly, but there’s no way I don’t buy this.
The Trials remaster looks much more involved than the ones SE did for Sword and Secret. Both of those felt and looked really plain - this might be the first of these to actually improve on the original.
I'm kind of interested what public opinion will be on SD3/ToM. It's been a dog's age since I played it so I don't if the gameplay would hold up today... but I suspect it absolutely will. I do however vaguely remember the story being kind of lazy trash though. Or at least they pulled off a really dumb and lazy cheat.
There are basically 3 overall plots going on. 3 major villains doing their own thing, with 2 of the 6 characters being pretty intimate with each villain. Everybody gets their own individual prologue, then they get shunted into the same "main plot". With you interacting with all 3 villains throughout. There comes a point though where the story branches need to be cut. Whoever you picked as your main character decides which villain and which final act and boss you're going to get. The other two villains though? They just get killed off screen and their whole plot gets tossed away. Which is really funny if you have one of the corresponding main characters in your party, because there goes their whole story as well.
...I will cover my ass here though. Like I said, it's been forever since I played the game, a fan patch to boot. It's totally possible I'm really misremembering things. I know I remember the game structure (for example I think it's Hawkeye and Angela that share one villain/story, Deathjester, and it's the hardest of the 3 possible final bosses to boot). I might be hazy on the details regarding how the story eventually picks that plot for the end. But I'm pretty sure the other two villains just get trashed and that's all you hear from them. It does encourage multiple playthroughs, because if you want to find out their whole story, then you gotta pick a different main character.

I have also never had any problem with any of the other Square Enix voice acting used. I guess my aural senses just aren't as attuned as y'alls.
There's actually a reason for that!
