I'm expecting any possible installments of the remake to deviate further and further from the original.
Just as this one expands Midgar and tells the story in a different way less than 30 minutes in, I would bet that much of the other locations in the rest of the game will be condensed into fewer locations and then expanded inside those confines. I'll be surprised if Fort Condor survives. Junon, Rocket Town, and Mideel will all be different. Even the Temple of the Ancients. It won't be 1 for 1, at least.
Hell, we know that new characters have been created for this installment alone. And both Crisis Core and Before Crisis get shout outs in the demo.
I'm not going to get mad if this turns into a streamlined, more plot-focused version of the original. Or more of a reimagining than a straightforward remake.
I don't know if we need to spoiler decade old game stuff, but this relates to what happens in the demo so I will just to be safe:
In addition to Jesse, didn't you have an option to help Wedge in the original FF7 during the escape? And he commented later that it was great of Cloud to stop and help (assuming you did)? The only part like that I noticed in the demo was Jesse, and it was not optional. Did I miss Wedge or is that part just gone?
I'm not sure it's clear that the demo contains the entirety of the "Reactor Escape" sequence, so there may be an unseen interaction with Wedge. As I recall you push him out of the way of falling debris towards the end? I dunno.

I hope fort condor makes it in. I loved those sections.

The likes of Fort Condor would definitely be due some modernization, if only so you don't have to walk your ass all the way back for every attack. Did you know there's actually more than two battles there? Because I didn't for a long-ass time, simply because there was no way I was going to drag the party all the way back across rivers and oceans and plains just to play that one minigame one time, and you couldn't even really know when it would be ready for a new fight. So I just did the first and the last fights, and forgot about all the rest.
As far as deviation from the original, I will be hugely disappointed if they cut down on locations, particularly locations like Condor. I fully expect to get some sort of proper overworld, and for the towns out there to be more fleshed out rather than eliminated. I also hope they do more to populate the world, like showing other nondescript towns and whatnot so that it doesn't look like the entire population of the planet lives in a dozen towns and Midgard. All that extra stuff is what made the original feel like an actual world over just a series of linked maps, which is what the later FF games made the fatal mistake of switching to.
I doubt we'll see anything cut. If anything, the fact they are taking stuff that is miss-able in the original and putting it as part of the main plot, makes it seem like their planning sessions start with all content from the original, then re-work it with additional new content.

It is definitely not the entire sequence. If you watch the Giant Bomb Unfinished, there are segments in the demo they were given that are not present in the publicly-released demo.
What I'd actually like to see is the Nibelheim flashback be basically that section of the game from Crisis Core, except Cloud is standing in for Zack, and obviously omitting the weird Genesis/Angeal stuff
FF7R isn't tied to the compilation. It's a full remake standing on it's own and being it's own thing. They might grab some stuff from them if they want to, but it's not in the same continuity.
It would be awesome if the 2nd game opens with Cloud and Sephiroth in the back of the truck heading to Nibelheim. So the 'tutorial' for the 2nd game (for those who skip the first) would be the first flashback sequence.
Was there much indication that Shinra blew up their own reactor in the original, piggybacking on Avalanche’s attempt to do so? And what would be their purpose? More evidence to let them get approval to drop the Plate?

Because they're evil and they can use the explosion to crack down on people
Jason Schrier *already* commented, based on other chapters beyond the demo that he got to play, that some Nibelheim flashbacks are scattered throughout the remake. So good chance we won't need that kind of extended recall sequence at all, at least not until Cloud starts rebuilding what *actually* happened much later.

I liked some of the foreshadowing moments here.
thr way Cloud just stared at the wall for a few seconds when asked what his relationship with Tifa is. Or when he seemed legitimately confused when asked how old he is.

Letting them do whatever they want as they fight the dangerous terrorists? Pres mentions that in the boardroom in the original game, they're putting their rates up and the ignorant people will trust them even more because they're the ones who saved the city from Avalanche.
I'd guess more exposition on this as it goes, but adding something new to the people who've played it before doesn't seem like a bad idea.

There's some dialogue in the original from Jessie while she's watching the news report back at the 7th Heaven, where the explosion was way bigger than she had designed the bomb. She assumes she had just made it incorrectly, and the game never really goes into it after that, but that's about it.
The reasoning I assume is also in the original game, where his design is to turn the public against AVALANCHE, which acts as a smoke-screen for them topping the Sector 7 pillar, then their later decision not to rebuild, in favor of restarting the Neo-Midgar project. This all seemed to be happening behind the scenes in a very short amount of time, since Reno had come to collect Aeris, who was necessary for Neo-Midgar, when Cloud fell through the church.

If they interweave the flashback into the Midgar sections, they could easily just make Kalm a drop off point for shops/inn then just fast track you to the Junon section which is much more engaging.

Some of those sequences are accompanied by FMV flashbacks in the final release. They seem to have been cut from the demo for space consideration, but were accidentally left in in some regions.

I really hope this isn't the case and that we do get the Kalm flashback in it's entirety. I don't mind some playable teasers leading up to it, but I genuinely feel that both the structure of that flashback, as well how it takes place in the game's narrative structure is absolutely integral to FF7.
I love that Gideon Emory is the voice of Biggs. He also voiced Balthasar in XII who is one of my all time favs.
Unfortunately I’ll be playing the main game in Japanese so I won’t get to see his full performance.
Huh, I missed it because I'm not used to his voice acting in FF coming with an American accent. Balthier and Urianger are mainly where I knew him from.

I feel like it would've worked better if the bomb did go off but just enough to disable the reactor and that was the idea all along. Shinra realizing that a huge, damaging explosion was a good way to blame Avalanche and reduce support was worth the loss. The waiting until the bomb first went off to destroy the rest makes sense by making Avalanche think they caused it themselves and cause guilt.
Restarted with Classic mode just to try it out. Interesting so far, it'll probably come down to what kind of game I want to play. Manual control is really frantic, where as classic pretty well simulates the older PS1 jRPG style. I'm only at the start, I'll have to see how Classic handles something like the Sweeper or boss.

That's a shame because Genesis especially is one of the worst characters I've ever encountered in any fictional property.

Midgar was such a small part of FF7(memorable but small) and it's taking up walls of part one.
Makes me wonder how the rest of the game will be paced.
What I'm guessing is that it'll probably go like.
Part 2: Junon to the Temple of Ancients
Part 3: Everything else.

I think I clocked around 60-80 hours either way.

I think my ideal would be:
Part 2: Post-Midgar to Return to Nibelheim
Part 3: Rocket Town - Summoning of Meteor
Part 4: Escape from Junon - Finale
I'd have going to Wutai mandatory in Part 3, and Part 2 expand a lot on learning about Zack, and uncovering the conspiracy being rebuilding Nibelheim

You can only redeem one receipt a day, but it's 5 DLC items per person, for each two pieces of candy. Multiple can be redeemed on the same receipt.
As long as you by them in pairs of two. If you buy 3 on one receipt and 3 on another, you only get credit for 2 pairs.
So you can buy 10 and submit that receipt and be done? or do you need 5 receipts with 2 each and submit 1 per day?
One receipt with 10 and be done.
Yeah that's what Stabby and I did. Now I got 11 pieces of candy for my team.
Edit - Maybe 10 because I might eat a Crunch and I already ate a Butterfinger.
