Yep, this is pretty much my line of thought on the game. I sunk an embarrassing amount of money into WoW over 10 or 12 years between subscription costs and the occasional mount or pet purchase so the money I've spent on this game over three years is easier for me to justify. That said, I have no problem walking away from this when the time comes, just as I did with WoW. Based on what I'm seeing in JP, that time is coming sooner rather than later. There's just no need to pull on units that powercreep one another to Dragonball-esque levels every month.
I'm preparing to be bamboozled by Gumi. They know we can see the future. Rational people that intend to keep playing should start hoarding lapis/tickets and going wild with UoCs because they soon won't be worth anything for the actual cool units you want.
Because of this, I have judiciously planned where my UoCs go between now and WoL. I think WoL is the last unit before this Summonfest nonsense appears. Anyway, I basically don't need to pull very much between now and then because I plan on blowing my UoCs. This will result in two things:
1) Gumi does nothing; we get Summon-fest as is. I think Bartz/Esther/Zeno will still be fine DPS-wise with the trials we've seen. I have a ton of lapis and tickets because I've used all my UoCs instead, so I can pick my favourites or save until the FF-whatever is my favorite and get those with the actual hoards of lapis I've obtained.
2) Gumi is the one true savior and says we haven't given out so many UoCs, we don't need Summon fests. Well now I don't have any UoCs but we didn't get the summonfest, hurray! Hopefully my lapis/ticket hoard will let me limp through until I can build up a UoC stack again.
Sure, relying on lapis/tickets, no matter the size, can result in getting nothing if you're really unlucky. The one thing the summon fests do have going for them is the rates are actually boosted, and the on/off banner split is now in favor of on-banner units, so it's less likely. But then I at least have a chance; I can ride the wave of summon fests and don't have to quit unless I get so lucky that I don't get CG Cloud or Jenova Sephiroth or whatever FF7 unit comes out that makes me fanboy inside.
In my mind there's a subtle difference between paying for entertainment and gambling. Sure, gambling can be a form of entertainment, but it's more likely to upset than enrapture. Gacha is gambling, at least in my opinion.

You rank x 5 (ie rank 100 = 500 tickets)
10 per day for the 30 day celebration
These tickets could pull for an assortment of things all the way from junk to 3*,4*,5* EX tickets, UoC tickets, and moogle containers.
The rates for tickets weren't too bad but the UoC ticket/moogle containers were like you got maybe 1-2 of each if you had 1000-1500+ tickets.
Edit: Oh, they did announce in the last GL news video that we were going to get another Player's Choice event where we vote throughout July for something to happen in August.

I think the anniversary tickets were in batches, but I think the EX ones were still singles. So some JP veterans ended up with like 100-200 3* EX tickets and oooh boy I bet that was fun.

I've gone all in on mages on my arena team. Two of the new Katy Perry to dual cast non-elemental Tornadoes. One Elly to triple cast 3 finishers. Element depends on who's on the other party. One Mediena, same as Elly. And finally one bonus unit, equipped with Ring of of the Lucii and Dual Cast for another 2 hits of non-elemental damage.
If all goes well, I should have be doing 12 hits in total, most of which will be benefiting from the chain bonus. Somewhere between 40k - 48k of damage.
Much less if any of the enemy units has elemental resistance against the element of my choosing. Though, now that I think about it, Elly and Mediena can cast multiple elemental types in one turn, guaranteeing at least some damage, unless the enemy is completely immune to elemental damage, which would limit its HP, making it vulnerable to my non-elemental units.
You know what, I can actually give Mediena a Ring of the Lucii or Ultima...

Suggestion: Ayaka with Odin instead of Elly. The tornadoes will generate enough orbs to summon midway through the chain, and then enough orbs to fill up for the start of the next round. Ayaka gives you a ton of defensive fallbacks and stop removal/immunity. Not having to time the finisher hits is another plus.
Or swap out mediena. Or give Odin to the bonus unit
I used one of the FFBE chaining websites to generate a script. I'm not worried about timing finishers.
But, yeah, I may switch Elly for Ayaka. Not going to do the Odin thing, though. I'll just give her Dual Cast and my third RotL. That's one less hit. Not much less damage and it'll make all my hits non-elemental.

I'm betting since there's no new community lead that they just decided to cut the position entirely; so not so much a firing as a downsizing.

I bought the Fountain of Tickets. I got a $1 discount from Google for cancelling the purchase the first time. A trick you should always do.
I have decided to save all EX and 5+1/10+1 tickets for the SoM banner. I will not be spending lapis on banners anymore. Just tickets. There is nothing I need to clear content so it's hoarding for SummonFest banners for me. I will UoC what I need when I need it.
5+1 was 2g4b, meh. I made up for it though.
Since I was halfway to 15,000 event points, I just said screw it and blew some NRG potions to get the 5* ticket. Circe #4, nice shiny magic wand.
Since it wasn't a Summer Filtra, I used my first planned UoC ticket for my 7* Summer Filtra. She's now all potted up and set as my Favorite unit, hurray!
Then since the mog king store was open, I dumped all that currency to grab all the tickets. Figured since I fell for the two 5% pulls on Regina and only got 1, might as well blow these tickets trying to get a second.
First ticket -> Rainbow! Regina #2. Well that'll do.

Well, yeah. Imagine you work for Square-Enix. You get another company to make a product for you. You look at the sales figures. When you need more revenue, you send a few emails to Gumi.
Then you get a call from Gumi. Someone actually contacted you through a non-text medium. An employee of yours is making a fuss over there. Apparently there are these people called "players" and they're complaining about your product, which is some sort of "game". They're angry about some of the decisions you mandated to get the money flowing. She's using these technical terms like "lapis" and "limited banners" and it's all very upsetting. The Gumi people want her to stop.
The nuts and bolts of the operation aren't your problem. You look at the spreadsheets and you send some emails. That's your job. You don't deal with customers. You have this person to deal with the customers and she's not doing her job. To be entirely honest, you don't think anyone should deal with customers at the company. It complicates the data from the sales figures.
So you fire her. Problem solved.
It's not like your project is important to the company anyway. It doesn't belong to the mainline series of products. It mainly exists to fund the hooker parties.
So I threw some ten tickets at the Ravina banner because I kinda liked her story and it's not like I'm pulling on the FFVII one, and surprisingly I did hit a rainbow.
Course, it's not actually the one in the banner (I mean, come on, this is Exvius, when do on-banner rainbows happen) and instead was beach Lid&Fina #1? So that's a thing I have now.
If Randi drops next week before the anniversary I'll be heading into it with no Lapis. This is probably for the best, I don't anticipate us having any great anniversary banners beyond what JP got.

I use Original Arrival on Kryla to help get all of her elemental resists over 100%. Great materia!
