He just wanted to live quietly and then he had to blow up a middle schooler, hotdog and hamburger style
What’s also really good is his actions reveal that his “I just want to live a quiet life” is self-justifying horseshit, because once he gets Bites the Dust he is a smug asshole who actively taunts his pursuers rather than hide from them
Thinking about it, I WANT to say Diavolo is the worst Jojo villain...but then my perfect pink phone pal pops into my head...and I can’t do it
So it falls to you, Funny Valentine, you’re kinda boring
It is kinda neat how in Eyes of Heaven
he causes the whole game due to accidentally finding Heaven DIO while fleeing in panic from Johnny’s infinite fingernails. And then later actually takes a swing at DIO despite not having a prayer at beating him.

also his definition of a quiet life involves the occasional murder so he can appreciate beautiful disembodied hands, but otherwise a totally stable, normal guy that Kira

funny is a villain with a pretty strong sense of character
he is not an ethical person but has a very VERY strong set of morals he follows
Dio is a terrific heel because he is an unapologetic heel devoted to making the lives of everybody he dislikes miserable, no matter how petty or how awful the actions involved may be. He is an asshole you want to see get beat. He isn't a magnificent bastard type of asshole, he is far from brilliant, and his villainy is self-centered and transparent. But he has this outlandish enthusiasm to his assholery which is memorable and you want to see this asshole get his comeuppance, which means he is getting the heel heat perfectly.

Yeah.
I think the Kira scene that most strongly effected me, and which I think paints a perfect picture of how twisted and horrible he is, is the murder that finally fully breaks his cover to Hayato.
Seriously, replace Killer Queen with any other weapon (a knife, a gun) and the whole thing is a scenario straight out of any crime drama. He follows someoneone home, breaks into her house, casually murders the person she’s with, and threatens her life to make her perform a service for him (which is definitely for the sexual thrill, given Kira’s whole deal). And then kills her anyway. This is the kind of indulgeance he wants for himself in his quiet life; something he’s done to uncounted people before. That scene is basically perfect at showing the audience that his time in the Kawajiri house has not changed him; he’s every inch the monster Hayato sees him as.

Basically Hayato should be an honorary JoJo, not that damn invisible baby
man, I'm realizing that Older Joseph just shows up to basically steal a baby in Part 4
I do like that there’s originally a relatable angle to Dio’s anger
He’s mad at the Joestars as a representative of the Haves and Dio greatly resents his status as a Have Not
He then takes that extremely too far
It goes even further than that to me, because his view of the world from his experience of being a have-not brought into the world of the haves is that the world is an unequal and unjust place, and therefore the only true rule is self-satisfaction and survival. The Haves are targets for rage and theft, the Have Nots are targets for easy victimization and contempt. He's not interested in making anything more equal for anybody else, or helping anybody, or bringing justice to the plutocrats, he's interested in taking all that he does not have and wishes to have.
I’m going to lose my mind if the new universe ever incorporates vampires
Do you think Araki even remembers that this whole thing used to be about vampires

Killer Queen is probably my favorite stand design in terms of pure aesthetic.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

I would like you to see an image that is a mild part 8 spoiler, from the first few volumes but still a mild reveal
Kira is a character in the new Moiroh (he's already dead when the part begins) but he still had Killer Queen and the first time you see it they're throwing up the goddamn horns

he started out wanting to eat the rich, but then when he actually tried it he discovered he had a taste for all the breads he'd just eaten
part 1 dio is actually more complex (I mean marginally but still) but part 3 DIO is more fun.
How many breads was that?
Thirteen.
He prefers rice.
Do you think Araki even remembers that this whole thing used to be about vampires
Vampires
Then Super Vampires
Then Vampires with Stands
Then no more vampires.

I like Crazy Diamond a lot too
I don't think I love D4C but it's still pretty new to me, give it time and I can grow to love the rabbit man
