I killed him and had like double digit money cause i just blew it all on a 32-bit coin and he goes "Your flat broke!" and died.
The first time I faced him,
I had about 80k. When he robs you of your money, that basically determines how much health he has. It took me a long time to kill him.
In hard mode, I purposely spent a lot of my money before facing him. I still had to fight him for a bit longer, but the difference between him taking 80k and 1k is huge.

He took a lot of money from me in my normal mode run. That said, he didn't exactly last long regardless after I stopped dicking around because nothing really lasts long against a max ranked 8-bit fireball hitting it.

I think the single most liberating aspect of this series for Iga has to be (if it takes off and becomes a series) is not having to finagle with the timeline with that weird thing about Dracula/Castlevania only resurrecting every 100 years or so.
No rules, no belmonts, they can pretty much go nuts.

They got around the every-100-years thing with Castlevania 2. It was never a problem. And the games were coming out sporadically enough.
All that said, the lore of Bloodstained's setting allows for a LOT, LOT more.

So, currently in hard mode I have two enemies left to add to my Demons log...and I fear it's going to be a while before I can do it. They're the last two entries in the log:
OD and IGA
And they're super tough! So now I'm working on building up my relevant passive shards, which is a bit tiring.
That was weird. Killed bloodless and the rumble was throbbing like a soft heart beat. Thought it was a health warning or something to do with Bloodless, but it continued after healing and even exiting to the title screen. Had to exit the game to stop it.

I've had something similar with killing the final boss, although instead of a rumble it was a hissing sound caused by one of its attacks. It droned on throughout the final cutscenes until the credits rolled.
Speaking of the credits, I was watching them yesterday. There are a lot thanks to all the backers, and if you contributed $750 you were allowed to leave a special message in the credits. Most of these are shout-outs to IGA, tributes to people's pets who appear in the game, thanks to family members, etc. But I was dismayed to see that a "deus vult saracens" made it in there, which is unfortunate due to the kinds of people who love to throw that phrase around.
Ugh, I'm finally stuck at 80.60% map completion. If someone who's finished the game can just give me one non-specific answer to the spoilered question, I would be most obliged:
I'm at the point where, as far as I can tell, I have nothing else open/unexplored to me. I have three doors I cannot get past which require (I think): Millionaire's Key, Key of Celeste, and Woodcutter's Key. I have otherwise explored every damn thing I can think of, including with Detective's Eye. I've even beaten the Carpenter.
I have the Zangetsuto. I have had a conversation with Johannes about Gremory. I've talked to every NPC.
So I go up to the Gebel "fight" and fight him. I win and it's Game Over. At this point, Gremory says something about being easy to possess since I've bound so many shards. I fought Gebel much earlier (and won) and don't recall anyone saying anything after I beat him the first time, so I assume this is new dialogue due to me binding a lot of shards and/or finding out about Gremory.
The question is: Am I actually missing something, or am I not thinking of what I have to do in this fight? I'd prefer any answer to only that. If it's that I'm missing something, then I'll go re-explore the entire castle and would rather do that without hints. If it's that I'm not thinking properly about what I need to do in the fight, then I'd like to sit and think about that myself. I just don't want to spend all day trying to explore both avenues of thought.
Things I have done in the fight:
Won
Lost
Dodged for like 5 minutes
Equipped Zangetsuto
Equipped other random weapons
Blood Steal
Unequipped all shards
Unequipped all shards and turned off all skill shards
Sold every single shard and turned off all skill shards
Summoned many chairs
So have I just missed something in the world that I need to explore more, or am I being an idiot about what I need to do in the fight?

Hint 1:
Read the item description for the Zangetsuto. It's quite important!
Hint 2:
Read this hint if you still can't figure out what to do. I don't tell you exactly what to do, though.
Keep in mind you cannot do what you need to do until Gebel has been weakened. There's a subtle visual cue for when you can perform the necessary action.
Ok I was wrong and I’m tired so hints here we come.
I found the Celeste key by chance the other day. You have to break a hole in a ceiling in the Hall of Termination. If you use the fairy familiar she will point out breakable walls/floors/ceilings for you. Might help you find the last few hidden areas.
So I have 100% completed the map, monster data, monster drops, and quests. Now I'm just grinding out items to complete collections so I can see all the toys the game has to offer.

100%'ing the game is not as satisfying as I thought it'd be. I think the ease of it despite the tedium is what's making it meh to me, especially compared to previous Castlevania games.

Bad ending get. I wish I could say I knew where to go next...
I hope Lindsay never stops giving quests and she has to start scraping the bottom of the barrel for new vengeance.

I crafted the Rhava Velar and powered up a few passive shards to grade 9 and rank 9. Then I fought and destroyed both optional bosses.
"Destroyed" is maybe an extreme term. I had to use health potions and food to heal up mid-fight a few times, especially with the last enemy.
Now it's all about collecting and crafting, I guess. I think my playtime will slow down significantly. I'm not sure if I have it in me for Nightmare mode.

Around 48%.
Hi are you me
This is basically where I'm at right now as of late last night, stoked to go poking around the castle looking for clues. I clicked on a few spoilers here and there in the thread, nothing too crazy, just confirming my suspicions of who needs to be fought next.
A question for the thread; I noticed you can upgrade the double jump, but you can also craft a higher jump passive shard once you have the double jump. Do you need that higher jump + double jump for any critical game-progressing exploration, or is it just for more nooks and crannies treasure finding? I haven't found anything that drops a Faerie Wing yet, or a Bovine Feather.

The high jump doesn't get you anywhere you can't already get by the time you can acquire it. That being said it is super handy.

It doesn't just let you high jump, it lets you continually jump in the air as much as you please (sorta like the Space Jump from Super Metroid) which is awesome. I like it better than Invert because Invert is so damn disorienting.

I actually missed all of the craftable shards on my first playthrough. I made the high jump one on hard mode and really kicked myself for not making it on my first run.
It's pretty good for speed running in combination with another shard but that's about it.
This might not be true. It'd depend on how 100% runs are classified or other categories (like all-quests or whatever), but also, getting the ability relies on an item drop you get after you acquire Invert and use it to get into the place Invert is meant to get you into.
High Jump can potentially save time in the last 20% of the game, but only like the first half of it. And only if you're trying to acquire all map tiles uncovered. Which is a category for speedruns sometimes, but then we're back to what I opened this post with.

Well, it's not required for anything in the base game. And world records in several categories over on the speedrun.com boards craft and use it so it seems useful for speed running (lots of the NG+ runs). The runs are short enough that if you don't get the item in 3 or 4 drops you could just reset without wasting too much of your time anyway.

All right, got all the achievements in this game. I think I am done until they make more characters available for play. I'm not going to try to get medals for all the bosses or maxing out all my shards or playing on Nightmare mode.
Man, I'm really trying to like this game but it is frustrating the shit out of me. One of my biggest problems has been how quickly you can die and how limited the healing options are. Maybe it's just an front-loaded, early-game difficulty, but I'm dying a lot. Enemies sometimes stick to you and I feel like I can't shake them off before I'm killed.
Also, the color schemes clash with stuff making these difficult to see. Like if the bats didn't shriek, I'd have no idea they were coming at me. Same with the goop monster that throws...whatever it's throwing. It's like pitch-black and I never see it coming until it's too late. Thankfully turning up the brightness to 8 helped a lot (had it on the default level), so I can at least see some of the attacks coming at me.
Dying and having to go back to your last save point is frustrating. I know it's how old-school Metroidvania's work, but I never had problems with severe early game deaths in those games. Having to redo sections because you get wiped out so quickly sours me pretty hard. My last death was to some frogs (Fucking frogs?!) since they can't be hit with normal attacks and require multiple slides to kill. They whittled me down and then a surprise spike door thing killed me.
I don't know, I see so many people overjoyed with the game and I'm getting more and more frustrated. Like, am I missing out on something I should be doing to make things easier? Is it a "get gud" thing? Is the Switch version more difficult from technical issues? Helps!
