Also "modern is dead" is a real weird take given the Hogaak plus looting ban broke the format wide open, but I feel like I'm in bizarro-land already so it tracks
I'm not saying it's dead. though stoneforge mystic shooting up 60$ a piece is a little rough. I'm just saying if newer cards aren't having much of an impact due to power levels of new sets being toned down, it isn't good for the long term health of the format. It's perfectly reasonable to say a card is bad if it can't latch onto a good card. Just because I played a lot of standard during that time... Squirrel nest is a bad card, it is slow, ties up your mana, and makes 1/1s. However, in squirrel opposition, it was made better. I think cards like arclight phoenix are the same. If there is enough on color cheap draw, discard, and burn sure it can work. But the deck literally lost 1 card and suddenly is dead. Nobody played squirrel nest when opposition rotated out with 7th edition despite most of its shell with u/g madness still there.

Anything over 5 in this set is going to be a bad card save the artifacts that cost less for X reason. Aggro is going to be insane in limited and standard. I see this set making very little impact on modern like the last few. They just dont print busted cards in standard anymore.
i know the big story this summer was hogaak but did we all forget modern all-star arclight phoenix
also threeferi is the tenth most played card in modern according to mtggoldfish right now
also, you know, karn lockout
don't forget narset, who is technically better in legacy and vintage
You've got cheap blockers, you've got effective mill stuff that is real cheap. Throw a drowned secrets in there, that jace that mills, etc. Enough chump blockers to stay alive long enough to maybe start throwing out board wipes if you need them, enough counter magic to go up against dedicated control decks after sideboarding perhaps? This probably won't be competitive, but it looks like there's a chance I can make a semi-effective mill deck?

Full spoiler is up - mostly commons, but the art is really cool. This guy's a little interesting:
Since they're +1/+1 counters and not charge counters or whatever, if you animate it with that faerie or Karn, it'll be a 7/7. Plus if you move counters around then you can do fun stuff with proliferate.
Beginning October 6th, there will be an event running for 36 hours on Arena that will allow you access to a playset of every card in Standard for deckbuilding, and if you can win 12 games (1 loss allowed) you get 1x of every card in Standard added to your collection. 11 wins gets you 1x every card in Eldraine. No entry fee, but you can only attempt it once. You can also change decks as often as you want between matches during your run.

"you can only draw one card a turn" is a powerful, powerful, powerful ability

Dude, what? WAR and Dominaria had and have massive impacts on the format. Note that the above and "Modern prices are ridiculous" are two different complaints.
Also a common complaint is a lot of people getting priced out of the format entirely after the Looting ban.

Munkus the bear is the knight. I'm not sure who that human in the art is.

look, dude who was also in the copper ranked Bo1 queue, it ain't my fault you're playing a FotD/Teferi deck against my Blood Sun deck, that's no reason to rope

It always seems like the most common ropers are people already playing annoying decks who run into someone who has a counter to them.
Although that actually probably makes sense because I bet those players were roping against the deck originally when they got tilted by it then built it so they could be the ones tilting others, haHA!
One Throne of Eldraine Deluxe Collection, one premium foil full set of Throne of Eldraine, one premium foil full set of War of the Spark, and ten Throne of Eldraine pack codes for MTG Arena.

My favorite flavor about this card is the inclusion of the fuckin bear.
The squire, obviously
Whacks you with a fucking menhir
Get fucked
Which is basically the story of innistrad which is also awesome.
