Welp, just had my first official "congratulations, you broke Hades" run and I'm grinning like an idiot for how ridiculous it was
Gloves with Aspect of Talos and Lambent Plume
Entrance drop: Hammer, got draining cutter- 2% life every kill with special attack
Room 1: Hermes, increase special speed by 10%
Room 3 or 4: Athena, special increased damage and deflects
Other boons: Zeus and Athena, so gradually increasing damage, crit, and lightning
I think I missed two rooms without clearing fast enough for the Plume, so by the time I got to the final boss I was at 34% speed increase and dodge chance. I cleared Styx and most of Elysium by standing still and hitting X until everything exploded. I love this game so much

Secret Boss:
I love the record scratch as soon as you hit borrow. I managed to beat them my first go too, I'm using the fists and through some sloppiness ran out of death defiance real early BUT I've been leaning heavily into Demeter boons so I grabbed that one that heals you constantly if you have no death defiance left to try it out. I also have her cast and the boon that makes it apply chill so I mostly just ran and hid and got some punches in while I could while I just had the cast going constantly.
I had a run the other night that was eventually successful but took forever to get to going.
I had at one point early on aa my room options

I found him on my first run trying out fists with a grand total of one boon.
Like particularly on later parts of elysium and the pair of bosses there.
My honest-to-god advice for dodging is to not overthink it. The dash invulnerability window is pretty long and you get two in a row (at least) so you can kinda just spam it whenever you know an attack is coming.

Focus less on the dash as a dodge ability and more on its role as your primary form of locomotion
Like, don't get me wrong, dodging attacks is important, but it's less precisely timing a dodge and more just booking it across the map in my experience

I guess I just get unlucky then because I often run out of dash right infront if a big attack.

The other thing I would say if you're getting caught while trying to dash away from enemies a lot is to dash through them
It's not universally a good idea, but because you're invulnerable during a dash, if there's an enemy bearing down on you, you can probably make it right past their sharp bits if you dash straight at them
This obviously works less well with ranged attackers and things of that nature, and I'd still recommend continuing the dash a good distance away if you can, as they might have a decent area of effect or be able to quickly wheel about

dash attacking is often your best mode of attack anyway

Strong sword run. Started off bad with the world splitter and dumb lunge special, and I didn't like Doom on my special either, but then came Poseidon on the attack, Razor Shoals with Second Wave, then Doom/Poseidon cast (Damn it's really strong) and Dionysus call doing big DoT because I also got the Dionysus/Ares duo. Plus 4 dodges and 20% Dodge chance from Hermes. It would have been embarrassing to lose on that run.
And I'm fuckin up my fretting fingers so bad holy shit it has been too long so since I practiced.
On the other hand it's coming along ok. At least the intro is.
I think I'm going to start practicing more again soon.
Nice homie. I mentioned a few pages back that I went and picked this up too, with my lady doing the singing for Eurydice. It's a fun tune!

Have not yet successfully completed an escape attempt. I did get past Cerebus and was surprised what I found beyond, at least how soon right beyond, and I nearly did succees at that next point. Like, leas than 10% health difference would have been enough to change the outcome.
I’ve switched to God Mode because frankly I need to take the edge off of my struggles a little. Also I kind of screwed myself over a little because I misspent a diamond. Instead of getting into the administration office I opted for the additional bonus for the Gemstones because I figured I could scare up another diamond on my next run. I did...but the admin now costs two diamonds which I don’t see a way to get another...although if I ground for...50 Keys I could convert them into enough Ambrosia to trade for a Diamond...although I suspect the net amount of time and effort will be better spent just focusing on beating the game and then starting up a new playthrough with all this ‘Heat’ talk.

The administration office only unlocks story stuff and most of that is probably well in the future, so I doubt you’ve gated anything

Approval Process can eat my entire ass
I was doing a run to get the prophecy for that pact done and I saw the Ares legendary crossed out TWICE that run along with two other boons I needed for a prophecy
But I finished the run so now I never have to pick approval process again

I never really liked Blade Rift for casting, but last night I was trying to fill slots on the Duo Boon prophecy so I grabbed it and got Hunting Blades, which makes it track enemies. Good lord, I barely had to swing my sword after that. I also had Hermes' rapid-cast, Artemis' Aid, and the boon that give you extra God Gauge when you get a critical hit, so the gauge was filling up super fast with the Blade Rift hitting like 20 times per second. It chewed up the final boss so fast while I spewed Artemis super-arrows from behind cover.
oh I also had Hermes' legendary boon that makes your cast crystals return automatically, and Demeter's thing that gives you damage reduction and bonus when you're out of crystals. It may have been a little overkill.

yeah the blade rift can be powered up to really crazy levels if you get all the upgrades:
Hunting Blades
Your Cast creates a faster Blade Rift that seeks the nearest foe.
Black Metal
Your Blade Rift powers deal damage in a wider area.
Engulfing Vortex
Your Blade Rift effects last longer and pull foes in.
Vicious Cycle
Your Blade Rift effects deal more damage for each consecutive hit.
Damage Increase per Hit: 2
Ares' Aid
Your Call turns you into an Impervious Blade Rift for 1.2 Sec.
the last two in combination are amazing, you can just turn it on and melt a boss' health gauge with one button

There are definitely a handful of ability types that you need to have upgraded a certain amount in order for them to actually be useful. Blade rifts are one of them, and I'd generally put lightning, knockback, and deflect (although I know this one will be controversial) in the same category.
Once you get those upgrades they're great, but you need to actually spend effort on getting those upgrades, so you can't like, just grab the one thing and call it a day. Whereas if I get just one or two Artemis or Aphrodite boons, they're going to instantly be an improvement for me.
Something about playing my acoustic with finger strumming is really waking up my desire to learn guitar again.
I dunno what it is. Maybe finger strumming just feels more tactile? It just feels nicer despite not being able to get the skinny strings to ring as good.

Honestly TheHardTimes is so often that place that understands the formula the Onion uses to create articles but rarely gets above a B in their efforts to be funny. Like I can see where the joke is, but it’s like the difference between a good firework and a bad one.
Whereas I think they're brilliant more often than not. That joke has got layers and the one yesterday about Nestle suing the moon? *chef kiss* Perfection.

The nestle one did hit right. When hardtimes hits they really, really hit for me (like the one about 'maybe not just nazi punks but all nazis should fuck off' was pretty great), otherwise if they're not a hit it's like being fed soggy toast.
Also aspect of chiron plus relentless volley sounds strong. Especially if you level up the aspect a bunch.
Yeah the L.7 was Aphrodite weak +dmg on attack. So it was putting out good damage. Then of course all the hangover stacking seeking special shots was a bit lol.

The real good combo there would be artemis special and also the boon what does a seeking arrow every time you hit and the boon what does extra crit damage and the one that gives you gauge on crit and artemis call...
Temped to drop the blood into Aspect of Chiron and do similar bow runs with heat for a while just tweaking a little here and there to find that perfect set of boons. Another part of me wants to put it in some other weapon entirely hoping that I will be able to clear standard with something else for a blood that way.
