All Caps Greek Translation

BlarghyBlarghy Registered User regular
I signed up for a Greek Sim card to use while in Greece (vodafone) and they keep sending me texts in Greek. The ones that use proper capitilization can be run through google translate just fine, but they also send a bunch of all caps ones which seems to defeat google.

I've been asking locals to read them for me, but any suggestions on how I could de-caps them so I can run translate on them myself?

I played around with this a bit and it seems to get partway there at least.

The problem is it does introduce some translation errors; research shows its probably the accents and such that change from Greek upper<>lower* that are problematic for machine translation. But it might be 'good enough' for your purpose

*Here's a pretty good article about why Greek case conversion is a pain in the ass. There are situations where there are technically 3 cases, not two. Interesting stuff.
