Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is in super limited release for some reason, I'll have to catch the double feature on Thursday. Shockingly, El Camino is nowhere near here.

Are they doing a theatrical run? Assumed it was Netflix only.

Some places have it, check Fandango. One theater in Miami, but it's on a work day. :(

So I just realized I have a 4k blue ray player and a 4k tv. What are some stand out movies that really showcase the 4k format?

If you want to see incredible 4k that isn't just a bunch of goddamn CG, check out the Alien 40th Anniversary 4k restoration. Also, if you can find it, check out the 4k restoration of 2001 A Space Odyssey.

It would be nice Netflix just got their films into multiplexes so that they aren't hogging up independent single screens that could be playing more limited release stuff, which is usually the case near the places I spend my time.

edit: this is more about The Irishman and last year's screnings of Roma than it is Jay/Silent Bob.

For those delving into the world of 4K Blu-Rays, beware fake 4K. A rather unfortunate number of 4K Blu-Rays are not true native 4K, rather they are upscaled from a 1080p source. This includes basically all the Marvel movies. On the bright side, even the upscaled fake 4K releases sport HDR, so they are still an improvement over regular Blu-Ray.

This site has a list of fake and real 4K releases. https://4kmedia.org/real-or-fake-4k/

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot Roadshow. Its a chance to see the movie with Jay and Kevin, with a Q&A, and Jay and Bob bs'ing at the end. Bit more pricey than a normal thater ticket, but seeing Jay and Kev in person makes it worth it for me.

    Edit for link to shows.

My mum has finally, for the first time in her life, seen a Tarantino movie. We watched Kill Bill Vol. 1 earlier. And she was surprisingly into it! I think the House of Blue Leaves fight with the Crazy 88 went on a tad too long for her, but she's interested to see where it goes next. I've already said Vol. 2 is a very different and much slower movie, but I don't think that'll be a problem for her. We'll probably watch that in the next couple of days.

Going back to Vol. 1, a special shout-out to every scene with the Bride and Hattori Hanzo, which is such *chef kiss* perfection. Thurman and Chiba just bounce off each other so incredibly well the whole time.

And that very last line of the movie, even when you know it's coming, is such a gut-punch.

Still probably my favourite Tarantino movie.

Which ones have you seen? He's a director that I find very difficult to characterise, but I've very much enjoyed his early films and I love The Ice Storm and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. His later films, not so much.

I remember Brokeback Mountain being good. I've heard the The Ice Storm is good but I haven't managed to see it yet. Other then that I'm just kinda eh. He's not a director I even have much of an opinion on at this point. Not very exciting to hear from imo.
