It's so weird that Gabe & Tycho are doing the classic "frozen in time" thing where they never seem to age, despite time clearly marching on in the things they reference, while the kid just keeps growing and growing. Never aging is a staple of comic strips, but it usually applies to the whole cast.

Have you seen Jerry? He IS frozen in time.

The only two ways to date a Jerry picture are by a) the glasses and b) if it was before or after they recast Mike with Dick Sargent.
(Also, this is the first time I've ever noticed that Dick Sargent is kind of a porn star name.)

First off wow Mike looks so much better with that bit of extra weight. I had forgotten.
Also, in a comic form like this a person in the age range of "adult" doesn't really need to have anything change to age them.
At any point you can just say they are whatever adult age they are, look at the drawing and say "yea that makes sense."
The whole age comparison is made weirder by the fact that Mike's current drawing style makes Gabe and Tycho look *younger* than they did a few years ago.
I feel like this could be a Seinfeld episode if for some reason they rebooted it and one of the characters had a long lost son that wanted to get into gaming

Tycho saw a place where the prose was insufficiently florid and said "No, this will not do. "
Edit: fixed quote for reference accuracy.

How wrong you are. There are a great many subtle ways to show they've aged.
