Oh, hey, it finally uploaded my screen shot from a few weeks ago. I assumed it was lost.
My first non-poison/watcher kill on the Transient. I might have played a Vault on the previous turn to stop it from killing itself so I could finish it off with attacks, ha
I was so close to this A7 heart kill I'm actually a little upset about it. But when you exhaust all of your blocks you eventually have to take a hit or seven...
Booo, wiped out on the heart, but honestly look at my starting relic, i think climbing to the heart with that is pretty not bad @A20.
I think this deck was a discount-cards-on-retain power away from being incredibly strong, but as it was it was really good. Just not good enough vs the heart, which given a horirfying t1 hand (multiple good cards all costing 3 or or more...)
Mummified Hand would have been nice too, but oh well.
I finally completed my objective of clearing Ascension 10 with every class.
My final run on Defect was a pretty insane deck that had pretty much everything it could want except any source of focus. Still worked out very well, largely thanks to recurring Darkness+ with Echo Form and Hologram, but adding a Biased Cognition (given that it had Orange Pellets) would have made it crazy.

My Slaying has fallen off massively because I remembered that Into The Breach is still a really, really good game. It's been highly enjoyable taking some time to play it again and just chase different island count clears with the squads I enjoy using.
But it's always nice watching new blood make the climb~

Ha, I fell down a ITB sized hole the other week as well. I polished it off a random squad, four perfect islands with 30,000 civilians saved run on hard and decided "okay, nothing left here for me; back to the spire." I had previously stopped once I got all three classes to A20, but without beating it and/or the heart at A20 so that's my next hill to climb. I really want the Watcher & patch changes on Switch though.
Floor 0 choice of rare, brilliance
Floor 16 act 1 boss, take omni
Floor 18 hallway fight, take worship
Floor 20 buy dollys mirror on omni
Floor 21 duplicator event, on omni
Floor 23 hallway fight, take wish
wish + worship + Brilliance is 60 gold and 156 damage instakills on almost everything in act 2 and 3.
Any of you fellow StS fans playing Night of the Full Moon? Stumbled upon it on Steam entirely by accident and it's close to Slay the Spire but still it's own thing. Also it has a very generous free-to-play model which is pretty rare in single-player games like these. It's not quite as good as Slay the Spire (and that'd be a hard goal to achieve) but I'd hope others might find it fun too.

I played it a while back. It's strange as it's deck building where the deck building isn't very important. Builds are more about equipment and non-card powers.
It's fun though
Homogeneous distribution of your varieties of amuse-gueule
I’m up to ascensions 4/4/3/4 now. Getting closer with defect, but it had been ages since I played it. I was mostly catching up on ironclad and watcher.
I used to avoid snecko eye entirely but now I’m extremely sold on it in the right deck, especially clad. My A3 silent win was a 25ish card deck with snecko eye and skull, a few poisons, burst, catalyst+, Bullet Time, and plenty of block. It almost felt like watcher, I could tank up hard then decide the fight was over.
I just came one room away from having Neow's Lament active for the boss. A boss to which I died because I spent the entire floor doing nonsense events, worthless merchants, and forging at camp, but still the path was there and I had to try.
So this was the most bonkers, ridiculous run I've had in a long time.
I had Corruption and Dead Branch and Dead Branch most just got in the way. Because the big kill scenario was actually "fill deck with Wounds and Dazes, Evolve draws them all, Fire Breathing hit for 200". With a side order of Demon Form / Barricade Body Slam smacks as backup. Getting those two eggs as my first relics made the rest of the run a hell of a thing, especially with the auto-upgraded Apparitions. By the end I was wasting campfires as I had nothing to do and was at full health.
Dead Branch did give me the utterly hilarious combo of
Play card, it exhausts. Oh hey, Fiend Fire. Play Fiend Fire. That plus all the other cards exhaust and are replaced thanks to draw on exhaust. Full hand.
Ironclad run, kind of spinning its wheels towards the end of Act 1. Bunch of upgrades, but no stand out relics or cards. Last ? before boss is a shop. It has Brimstone.
Managed to clear all the way to the heart thanks to Snecko, Disarm+, Shockwave+, two upgraded Apparitions and Bites (which I probably shouldn't have taken, but I don't think I would have beaten a few fights without a clutch heal), and Barricade.
I almost beat the heart too, got the Disarm and Shockwave off before the artifact stacks went up, things went well... and I just had nearly zero card draw besides one Battle Trance I got in the Act 4 shop and Evolve from the Act 4 elites. I couldn't get the apparitions in play and barricade was bottom decked so I never built up a wall before the third round of attacks. I almost had it too with Artifact + Speed pot and I had two sets of them, but I had to use one set for Woke Bloke. Shame. It was close. just needed to get lucky.
It somehow hadn’t occurred to me that disarm could offset brimstone. I love that I can play and read about this game a bunch yet still have plenty of lightbulb moments.

I still had to block 8x15 even with weak, just wasn't happening. I got up to 70~ block but since I lost so much max hp it didn't matter. Not having any extra energy with Snecko also hurt as I was entirely at Snecko's mercy.
What's up with Ring of the Serpent/Snake (whichever one is the boss relic)? Is it specifically for decks where you don't want to draw more cards for some reason?
What's up with Ring of the Serpent/Snake (whichever one is the boss relic)? Is it specifically for decks where you don't want to draw more cards for some reason?
It's only real use case is when you have some combination of Start with 3 shivs, Bag of Prep, or Snecko Eye - anything that would put you past drawing 10 cards on turn 1 means it's usually worth while to turn in Ring of the Snake in return for Ring of the Serpent. (Assuming you're not offered anything better for a relic)
Otherwise, it's basically worthless. Honestly, only Watcher and Defect's starter relic upgrades feel particularly notable, and even then they're on the weak side
My Switch tells me I've played this game for 550 hours.
Where do you find this information?
It's currently in 3rd place lifetime, behind MHGU (332 hours on the save file) and Xenoblade 2, but ahead of Shield, which I know has at least 130 hours on it.

Jesus Christ, Spire ...
I can't remember the last time I had to work this hard for a win.
Very, very bad deck that got carried by some weird pickups and Alpha. I 1000% died multiple times over without the temporary dexterity relic. MVP for sure. Busted Crown for your starting relic is just so brutal ...
God i hate Ectoplasm, so so much. It's just such a shitty design for a relic. Let's invalidate one of the major avenunes of power! (I mind Sozu a lot less, since potions are nowhere near as intergral as Gold is to the flow of the game). Personal opinion, Ecotplasm should just double the cost of stores. It's current implementation is just unpleasent to play
This was one of those runs that objectively was REALLY strong, but never actually FELT strong. I think just having Reaper or a heavy blade would have made it very, very stronk. I mean, it thumped the heart in 11 turns taking only 16 damage, so it was a good deck... but yeah.
Started with Demon form, added another demon form end of act 1 gambling on seeing Snecko... and yup. Limit break was a semi meme pick, but it did go far on stacking up the offensive scaling. Dolly's Mirror to get another Impervious, which is honestly where most of the block came from.
Dark Embrace was bought in act 4 store over another Battle Trance, just off the strength of having Medical Kit, Power Through and Immolate to make me draw (+heart and A4 elites being jerks)
No idea how many wins i'm up to now given i've lost my progress a couple of time,s but i belive i'm probably north of 125
Oh yes, I got Ectoplasm two runs ago. I died early act 2. :P
I feel quite chuffed that someone on the offical discord server liked my suggestion on how to rework Ectoplasm so much they asked me for permission to make a mod for it and credit me.
My suggestion by the way is to just change Ectoplasm to being shops have doubled prices. So you can still use gold, it's just much harder - but it still lets the player interact with gold, which i feel is important. My most hated relics are probably Runic Dome and Ectoplasm as both take away major ways of interacting with the game. Sozu's not in the same cateogry as potions ,will nice and powerful, are not a central thing in the way Gold and Intents are
Also on the bossrelicswaptrain:
Get silly relics, get silly deck, do silly things
I dunno that i actually ever had a bloody plan here, but what the hell, it worked and worked well. Took Cursed bell over Ectoplasm, and just kinda rolled Act 2 and 3 from there. I think that was the weakest Orange Pellets i've ever had - it was taken on the logic i'd slam a fasting if i ever saw one, which i think was the correct decision, but it never did anything.
Also i could have had 5 scrawls if i'd wanted to really commit to things, but 3 seemed like enough paper doodlin'. Deck had stupid stupid good card draw, which was real nice.

Does Orange Pellets cleanse the temporary dexterity gain from Duality? I haven't had a Watcher run get particularly spicy for any of these interactions to come up, but I'm just curious if she's _fucking hilarious_ with it? Also does it cleanse the energy loss of Fasting? I haven't seen if that actually applied a debuff or just _did what it did_.

It does, but it's surprisingly tricky to make orange pellets+ duality do anything notable. Breaking duality is actually quite tough, outside of holding an artifact potion (play it at the end of turn). Or you could just save a speed pot and get more Dex with less hassle.
Orange pellets + fasting on the other have is hilariously hilariously broken and I will slam pellets just on the chance of getting that combo
Tricky to get a power card and a skill card with 3 attacks on your first turn, though, and play 5 cards, and have that one skill give you enough block to not eat a bunch of damage.
It's a nice combo, two great tastes that taste great together, but it seems like it should be as good as Fasting or hilarious and it really isn't either one.

Well, i say that but Rat + Mutant avocado is still one of the stupid-hardest fights in the game.
Deck got way way stronger once it had apparitions in it, and still ended on 62 max hp. (and yes, i aggressively pruned out strikes!)

...also i'm sort of offended. i got the travel to the boss portal on floor 48. Also, yep, that's 5 elites in one act
I mean, i had everything, so i took it, the campfire was useless, but this still offends me on a moral level.
Also, yes, 5 elites in act 2. Very reasonble numbers
