    My moment of the week goes to the copy of Ultimate Spider-Man #109 I just got, wherein
    Kingpin totally ruins Spidey's shit. Seriously, he was the scariest thing I've ever seen in this issue. There was literally six pages of him putting the mental beatdown on Spidey, and Peter didn't say one damn word. And towards the end he says-

    "Oh, hey... Any fat jokes you want to toss my way before we're done?"

    *Panel of Peter trying to hold back tears*

    "That's what I thought."

    I'm kind of getting tired of Ares being used as the meathead alpha male comic relief. He was a lot more sympathetic (and interesting) in the Ares mini-series.

    It just seems similar to what happened to the Sentry, with Bendis adapting a character who wasn't necessarily meant to appear in the Marvel Universe proper without holding true to the source material.

    And in the process, everything from the original mini is written off.
