So I'm playing Celeste and I'm on the third area and I'm starting to panic that I should be working harder to get the fruit. Please tell me I'll still get a decent ending to this game even if I'm not perfect.

The game was not lying when it said the strawberries are ONLY to get if you feel like getting them. They don't change anything.
I enjoyed beating Celeste, and I have no idea how the story ends or if there are good/bad endings. I started skipping all the cutscenes about a third of the way in.

Pedantry: they do affect one minor exchange in the ending. But they do not change the bulk of the text in the ending, nor do they gate any content.
Regardless, it is safe to ignore them.

Strawberries are for optional challenge and bragging rights. The game is being entirely honest when it tells you strawberries are only there to impress your friends - they do not affect anything in the game except how fervently a single screen in the ending congratulates you.
Has anyone picked up Doom or Skyrim for the Switch? I can't imagine them being fun to control with the joycons.
Opinions on JoyCon controllers varies a lot, but i played through Doom using them through the campaign and though it was just fine. Played both in docked and hand held mode.
I've played through my entire catalog on Joycons quite happily, so they're good as a controller (I play mostly in portable mode). HOWEVER, both sets of Left Sticks have the drift issue now. Definitely a design issue there and I don't feel like I should have to open it up and clean the contacts myself. It makes me wonder if it is because I often have my Switch in my pocket - I can totally see why that would cause issues. The 3DS had the screen rubbing lines and now this with the Switch. They're still my #1 and #2 favourite consoles ever despite the problems though.

I mostly play my Switch docked, but my JoyCons started drifting as well. It's really a JoyCon issue, not a your pocket issue.

Finally happened to me last week, but it cleared up after I blasted some dust cleaner under the analog sticks. There’s a little rubber cap that’s a little annoying, and it took a few tries, but it seems to have helped.

Well that's disconcerting, I thought I was partially to blame for not treating it like a Faberge egg.
Unrelated: It's KILLING me that the Switch version of Bloodstained is a week later. SOTN is the GOAT for me and my other SOTN-loving friends speak very highly of it. I hope it makes an absolute fortune and that prompts Konami to pay someone to port over all the DS Castlevania games. Each and every one of them has a special place in my heart. I can clearly recall where I was in my life for each one of them because I was ignoring everything around me and playing those games instead.
Hey all, I've been lurking here for a a bit so I figured I would actually start posting. I'll vouch for those Hori dpad Joycons as an essential upgrade if you have any desire to play a platformer or shmup. Not only is the dpad good for a thin detachable thing but the shoulder button has a nice click to it.
Anyone buy physical Switch games enough and know how to "register" them for gold coins on Nintendo?
Friends of mine got me Crash Team Racing for my birthday, and everything I've seen says to have the disc in the game, and just use your profile, and you'll get the coins. At least, I haven't seen anything suggesting anything different. No codes to register on mynintendo or anything.

Hit +, then go to "My Nintendo Rewards Program" and register the game from there.

Oh that's interesting. So it's primarily for undocked play? I rarely take it away from my TV. Thanks for the heads up @syndalis
for docked play, the pro controller is really the gold standard. Decent dpad, good sticks and buttons, honestly as good as the XBO controller in almost every way which is basically the gold standard for traditional controllers nowadays.
The issue with the switch is the abhorrent d pad when on the road, and the hori L joycon is a really good fix. but that is a limited use case for many.
As someone who uses the switch mostly on the road though, its a nice accessory.

Let's play Mario Kart or something...
This is QUITE debatable. As many people first learned from unwanted drops in Tetris 99.
8bitdo is the place for great d-pads, but you can also find passable ones on Power A or Hori wireless if you want something closer to the large analog travel of a pro controller. Or just stick with the pro controller if you don't really care for 2D stuff.

It varies; I have one that works fine but my launch pro controller does do the auto drop thing a lot.
For Tetris 99 I find that the split d-pad on the Joy Cons actually work better. It's good to have discreet buttons as it limits your chances of doing something stupid.
I bought Crash Team Racing, and I'm enjoying it more or less, but is the difficulty scaling sort of wacky for anyone else? I can't really play Adventure well on Medium because I get bombarded by weapons and the opponents can catch up with me like they're running on rubber bands, but on Easy, there's basically no challenge at all. It's like they didn't spread out the challenge very well across difficulties. I'm not even touching Hard at this rate.
First 3 to finish win. Players can't interact with each other, but can shoot or take each other out with Fire Flowers or Stars. But finishing first is all that matters in the end.

If you want a good D-Pad for undocked play either get an 8Bitdo SN30 Pro (it's pretty great) or a converter for another console's controller with a good D-Pad.
The official Pro Controller's D-Pad is, sadly, shit.

I'd hold right on the pro controller's dpad in the smash practice room to try and get the CPU to 300%--and like I'm carefully only pressing the right one, because I'd seen it wig out before--and it'd randomly go up and down to other options every sixty percent or so. It's impressively bad.
Edit: The sticks are much better than the joycons, that goes without saying, but I've also noticed the right stick seems a lot less responsive than I'd like (again, noticing in Smash how it'll completely miss down tilt or up tilt inputs frustratingly often). I'm nearly on the brink of buying a gamecube controller and adapter, and I never even played melee!

there is no right.
It also lacks wireless or rumble.
But if you want to do 2D-heavy or fighting game stuff on the switch the Hori Dpad is probably the best you can get.
It just will probably not be your daily driver.
