So I have stretch marks on my upper chest from working out, and on my back from "growing up too fast" (according to the dermatologist). Both of them annoy the hell out of me.
Is there a way to get rid of them with anything short of laser surgery?
I got stretch marks on my hips during puberty, I would assume from the "growing too fast" aspect as well. I'd be interest in a fix, thought honestly they haven't much bothered me.
I'm pretty sure they're the similar in composition to normal scars, and once they're formed all you can do is have them laser them to subdue their color and appearance. As far as I know they're too deep to be affected by creams and the like.
I got some on minor ones on my arm and on my leg during puberty when I grew like 3 feet super fast. They can also pop up again if you get really into weight training -- some people just seem to be more susceptible, while others can become like 300 pounds and get none -- most likely a genetic component? The ones on my arm seem to become much less noticeable when I get a tan too...maybe try sunless tanner or something if they're really annoying?
I also read recently how scientists are looking at how to harness the ability of human fetuses to heal without scars for use in cosmetic and other surgeries, so you can try holding out for that too -- just have them cut off .
I seem to remember seeing some form of cream advertised on TechTV years ago that they said worked (at least for pregnant women) but I have no idea whatsoever as how to find out its name or anything about it.

This stuff is supposedly pretty good for reducing the appearance of stretch marks, scars, and blemishes -> http://www.bio-oil.info/en/home
(my ex girlfriends older sister used it for pregnancy stretch marks and swears by it)
I've always heard Vitamin D cream would take care of them.
Vitamin E, actually. Personally, I found minimal improvements with the creams. I chose to let mine fade over time, but there are definitely effective direct treatments like laser resurfacing available if you have the coin.
Yeah, your skin literally ripped apart. You just have to baby it and apply cream etc for about a year. Although it would help to slowly increase your range of motion in your body to prevent it happening in the future.

Apparently Cocoa Butter is OK. Plus, it smells like the bomb.
Maybe that'll help
But would you really want to use it? I think I remember seeing a study that said Head On was like 98% wax.
