She mentioned it in one of the earlier episodes. Dan responded asking if that was somehow related to Bioshock. I tried not to scream

ep 1 is fantastically animated. One of the best.

    I will say nothing else.

I feel like existentialism and objectivism are... not very compatible

Or is she using existential in the more general sense?

Bianca was saying that she read a lot of Ayn Rand as a high schooler, in context she wasnt like, espousing objectivism or anything

But existentialists are usually all about the lack of objective meaning while objectivism is kind of the opposite.

The Dan Ryckert eating hotdogs out of a shoebox story left me in awe as that was something I would not think of doing even at my most depressed when garbage was just kind of piling up in my room.

Objectivism is such a silly thing to call a philosophy built around trying to retroactively justify the immorality of free market capitalism.

    GR_Zombie
  • -Tal-Tal Registered User regular
It is so called because a crucial tenet of objectivism is that objective reality exists and you can directly percieve it

    PNk1Ml4.png
  • TallahasseerielTallahasseeriel Registered User regular
I know, also something I disagree with

  • CouscousCouscous Registered User regular
The main thing that sets Objectivism apart from philosophical schools that hold reality to be independent of subjective experience is that it holds that morality follows from objective reality in a scientific manner.

It does not do a great job solving the is-ought problem that comes with that thinking.

He's got a picture of the don't tread on me flag as his twitter avatar and he routinely harasses (and sicks his followers on) marginalized critics, such as Dia Lacina.

You could probably find a bunch of specific things he's done but frankly those details alone are enough for me to not want to bother spending more time on him

He was one of the original founders of Kinda Funny Games, aka Greg Miller's outfit, and was ousted/quit after he made a shitty joke about International Woman's Day and kept doubling, tripling, and quadrupling down on it. After that he's been on a bunch of right-wing political podcasts and shows, like Glenn Beck's show.
