Need a breather from Oxygen Not Included and got back into Hitman. That game is still so goddamn great you guys.
I think I'll attempt a master playthrough, suit only. Poked at Paris a bit, and I'm a little annoyed that I can't remember the route I used in the first season. It would have to have been a fireworks kill, I don't think I could get close to Novikov otherwise (maybe a loudspeaker kill, but that can be tight as well)
I tried playing Sims 4 in a very vanilla way (single household member, no cheats, v shitty house, trying to work up the career ladder) and started getting crazy bills every day and said fuck it I'm going back to total Warhammer.

I made myself, and eventually gave up when I realised I'd made Sim Me more successful than I'll ever actually be and got depressed

I just started playing Vampyr myself, and I'm enjoying it so far. I've been following Tube's rule on murder/sleep, but I've only for real rested once.
I killed Clay Cox for that first rest, although I will admit I didn't fully understand what was going on with that segment and maybe should have looked around more or made a different choice.
Does anyone have any tips or tricks that I should be paying attention to with it? To what degree should I be actively running around with sidequests, versus like, just letting them happen in the course of my regular travels?
The main tip is to learn as much as you can about people before you chow down

Yeah I definitely screwed that up with my first victim, but oh well. I've got a couple of people in the hospital who I've learned a lot about now, so I should have some options going forward.

If you're going for Suit-Only, you have a lot of options for Novikov. Some of them disappear if you're trying to go for Silent Assassin, though. If I remember correctly
Loudspeaker kill, as you said
Plant an explosive in the evacuation room, trigger an alert (or knock out Novikov's bodyguard and use his phone), blow up the explosive
Drop the light fixture on Novikov when he's speaking at the end of the runway show
Place an explosive in the reporter's camera, blow it up during the interview
Trigger fireworks and push Dalia on top of him (or snipe him)
Some of those approaches might kill bystanders, so if you're doing Silent Assassin, they won't work. I'm sure there's other stuff I'm forgetting.
You can also spend a lot of time on separating him from his bodyguard using distractions (I think I had luck luring the bodyguard into a bathroom using a coin once and then knocking him out there), and then just pick him off at some point during his patrol path, but that can get pretty tedious.
I finished the main story of Guacamelee 2 a few days ago. Played on Hard difficulty the first time through, and it was a pretty good challenge. Ended up getting the needed stuff for the "good" ending... buuuut I forgot to use them before defeating the final boss. :P
So, I'll clean up the rest of the achievements I missed then beat the boss again to see how things changed. But yeah, very enjoyable. The platforming was good, the combat was good, the jokes were good. All the puzzle-platform-y bits felt like they were perfectly tuned so that a solution wasn't obvious when first entering a room, but after a few tries I could figure out how to get through them without a guide.
Musical kinda-spoiler for halfway through the game:
Context:
Imagine you enter a pipe which spits you out into a vast, dark room. Slowly, the lights come up and robed chickens start appearing... and this music plays.

Yeah, fireworks seems to be the safest and most time efficient way, since it's something I can trigger. The others are mostly very risky for suit only (silent assassin is a must!). I'll give it a shot, I think I'll need one rune to refamiliarize myself with the extra cameras, but it shouldn't be too hard. I think. I hope. I did this before!
e: okay, did it in one. Could probably have been a lot faster, but I'm okay with this
Ah, that's right, I forgot about the extra cameras and stuff on master! So, the stuff I mentioned may not have been so easy (I was working off of non-master Hitman 1 memories).
The security hub is basically my first stop anyway, taking out cameras one by one is a nightmare. The real problem with the other routes is Silent Assassin. People spot you faster than usual, which makes some spaces nearly impossible to navigate unless you fill rooms with unconscious bodies, which is too risky in itself.
On to Sapienza! I still love that Bond-like music sting when you enter the lab. So, so good

There's a weird kind of logic to the plant samples. You can find each one of them near a different portal in the main chamber of the primary containment facility. Except for the Sea Crown, which is infuriatingly rare but can be found in one of the tunnels at the bottom on the sea emperor's tank.
I made a point of looking around the tank closely, and the plant seemed familiar:
I found a time capsule that indicates which plants you need (which raises all sorts of questions) and it came with a picture of the Sea Crown front-and-center. It claimed to provide me a couple of things, including a seed ... but didn't actually do so.
Regarding the spoiler, I believe the devs were hand-reviewing time capsules and making sure endgame items were not included in them.

Epic’s Statement on Misinformation & Abuse
8.5.2019
We at Epic Games have often shared our views about the game business and companies in it, and we support the entire game community’s right to speak freely and critically about these topics, including the topic of Epic, our products, and our store. When everyone shares their earnest views, the best ideas ultimately prevail.
The announcement of Ooblets highlighted a disturbing trend which is growing and undermining healthy public discourse, and that’s the coordinated and deliberate creation and promotion of false information, including fake screenshots, videos, and technical analysis, accompanied by harassment of partners, promotion of hateful themes, and intimidation of those with opposing views.
Epic is working together with many game developers and other partners to build what we believe will be a healthier and more competitive multi-store world for the future. We remain fully committed, and we will steadfastly support our partners throughout these challenges. Many thanks to all of you that continue to promote and advocate for healthy, truthful discussion about the games business and stand up to all manners of abuse.
Cross posting my ONI self-sorting and self-cooling electrolyzer setup for those that don't frequent the G&T thread:
Electrolyzers submerged in a few grams of mixed liquid. Pre-prime the hydrogen chamber and the gasses passively filter themselves. Submerging the electrolyzers allows them to run at 100% efficiency without overpressuring.
A cooling loop runs to the thermo aquatuner submerged in the hydrogen chamber. The incoming water is stepped down to 1000g/s by valves to try to prevent too much static water sitting in the chamber soaking heat.
When everything is running smoothly, the result is a self cooling system, since the thermal capacity of the incoming water is higher than the resulting split gasses. If running on very hot water, I'd still recommend a single wheezewort and some temp shift plates to help offset some of the heat. I've noticed the aquatuner can overheat if it has to cool a lot of packets in a row at a higher chamber temp.
I use oil as my bottom liquid, water as my top but really almost any combination will work (besides polluted water on top, due to off gassing breaking the system). I position a gas pump right below the bottom electrolyzer to feed into my suits, and it helps prevent CO2 from getting trapped down there breaking the system.
If one or both of the top tiles are blocked by a non-oxygen gas, you can get O2 into the hydrogen chamber and vice versa.
Air is nice and cool before it hits the base proper, and the hydrogen chamber is relatively cool in comparison!

Having thought about it some more, I've decided I'm grossed out in the way I was supposed to be grossed out by Vampyr's body horror angle, but I was just regular grossed-out by
Early game spoilers and also CW: suicide
The main character's attempted suicide scene near the very beginning.
This is partially that it was uncomfortably close to my own actual Plan when I was suffering from severe depression and suicidality in my early/mid 20s.
It's also partially that it came out of nowhere with only a few ominous dialog lines of warning. I would honestly have appreciated a CW during the game's first loading screen, which is not something I've said before.
It's also on the basis of the "no way out" presentation of the act; you literally cannot progress the game in any way without shooting yourself. They constructed a situation in which self harm was literally the only option for the player. I want to acknowledge that this very effectively communicates the thought process of the protagonist and makes the player really feel the experience of being trapped and believing that self-harm as the only way out.
However, I didn't personally need to go through that again.
I bought Oxygen Not Included last night! It hasn’t reached my difficulty tolerance as fast as Don’t Starve, so I can actually enjoy the Klei art for a change. I’m gonna go check out the G&T thread for some tips
As I expected, I had to make some trips back to the Cyclops. During the first, I collected the nickel I primarily needed, but I also grabbed some gold, silver, and kyanite. Then, almost as an afterthought, I detoured and picked up some crystallized sulfur. Four, to be exact; I almost stopped with three.
Wouldn't have needed to return except that the third stage needs a Cyclops Shield Generator. Just... why. I mean, I get it. Most people aren't going to abandon their sub in the depths of the world, and it would be trivial for them to collect. but.
Finished putting the Neptune together; considered giving her a better name, but nothing jumped to mind. Climbed in, and thought about going back to base to bring some of my things with me and decided against it. I did happen to be carrying the Aurora model and a poster of the Aurora, so I guess ... keepsakes?
As I climbed into the sky, the thought flickered through my head, "I did remember to turn off the weapon, right?"
Made it back to Alterra to learn that I owe them 1 trillion credits and, well, sure. I'll get right on that. A nice payoff to the message you get when a diamond is first collected.
There's a lot to recommend there. Thanks for encouraging me to pick it up!

I'm sorry, that was phrased a bit combative, but I really do mean that it's very common sense as whether or not to tell if someone is going to be hated on by GGers.
Are they anything other than a white cishet dude? Or are they a white cishet dude known to be critical of GG and/or supportive of anyone who is not a white cishet dude?
in abstract yes but i'm specifically referring to gaining knowledge of who is actively being discussed at the time
obviously on a long enough timeframe it's everyone, but sometimes they target smaller creators or journalists that are niche enough that I wouldn't actually have heard of them otherwise, because they're just unlucky enough that compared to the thousands of posts that will scream about someone like jason schrier their story doesn't get signal boosted. in those situations that knowledge can enable me to give tangible support to someone
does it happen often? no. but i'm okay with sometimes delving into the toxin if it can sometimes provide that help

to be honest i wouldn't have expected an Epic response back then because they didn't do anything other than Infinity Blade and Gears.
And apparently KiA think that Epic is running black ops against the Cyberpunk devs. Which is pretty cyberpunk imo.
