The [Mueller] Testimony

Basically every major news outlet has a stream on Youtube.
Talk about the testimony and its connections to the Mueller investigation into the 2016 Election and its fallout.
If you make a comment based on the live testimony, please include context so people reading it the next day will understand what was being discussed at the time of posting.
Collins railroaded him and Mueller did a shit job.
The idea that your vote is a moral statement about you or who you vote for is some backwards ass libertarian nonsense. Your vote is about society. Vote to protect the vulnerable.

Collins making the semantic argument was painful to watch. It seemed like a way to try to disprove the rest of the report by trying to get Mueller to contradict himself.
Yeah, this thread is fine, forgot the testimony started before I woke up.
I submitted an entry to Lego Ideas, and if 10,000 people support me, it'll be turned into an actual Lego set!If you'd like to see and support my submission, follow this link.
Ratcliffe (R-TX) making the argument that the OLC memo means the president is an extralegal emperor.

This is.....not good. Mueller is tied in knots by the OLC guidelines and his own refusal to go outside the lines of the report.
He would do better if he could speak like a normal person. But his dedication to the rules of a broken system are undermining his ability to help the public understand what is going on.

He was ordered by Barr to told talk about anything but the report. He tried to have that other guy there to work around that and answer things he couldn't but DOJ doesn't want him to do that either.
Lofgen: “Did the Trump campaign think it would benefit from Russian election interference?”
Mueller: “That is correct.”
Lee: “Does your report state that there is sufficient factual and legal basis for further investigation of possible obstruction of justice by the president?”
Mueller: “Yes.”

The Dems seem to have no grasp of the situation either and so are not prepared to basically coach him into saying what they need him to say.
So the left love affair with Paladin Mueller can be over now and we can move on to like actually doing things now? He is doddering and uncharismatic. Anything scored here will be due to the media accidentally latching on to something or soundbytes produced by committee members.
It’s worth noting by the way that Ratcliffe is one of the guys angling for the Director of National Intelligence job, so expect him to treat this as an audition for that role.
Someone else chasing that job is Nunes.

I think they were hoping that Mueller would come in and actually speak outside of the boundaries he's drawn for himself.
Why they might have thought this I do not know, but they should all be doing what Nadler did which is a bunch of "yes" and "no" questions. Which Mueller still somehow managed to muddle up but is still better than basically everything else I've seen so far.

That’s my worry too. One of the biggest things people lose as they age is the ability to quickly adapt in the moment. Neither mueller nor the Dems on the committee seem capable of adapting on the fly.
I am increasingly worried.

Mueller is getting eaten alive. He ain't a politician
He's frustratingly doddering.
It's not his job to provide the answers democrats want him to provide. The democrats have sufficient evidence in the report to impeach the preisdent but won't and want Mueller to be their knight in shining armor with damning smoking gun evidence which he doesn't have
It's worth noting that we still haven't seen the full report and neither has congress. I bet there's something pretty damming hidden in the redacted portions of the report.
OK, when I said "guilty" in the second post, I was paraphrasing for brevity and typing on my phone. It wasn't "guilty" it was "did obstruction of justice take place."
I should point out that I've been following this whole thing from the start, and my original post was mostly rhetorical frustration. Repetition of what the issue everyone has had, which is "Schrodinger's Assessment fucking sucks."

PBS Newshour:
Rep. Nadler: "Did you actually totally exonerate the president?"
Cohen: “Is it likely that the President wasn’t pleased with your appointment because of your investigative reputation?”
Mueller: “That’s correct.”
Cohen: “Did the president attempt to get Sessions to unrecuse himself on multiple occasions?”
Mueller: “Yes.”
Sensenbrenner: “Since you decided you could not prosecute the president under OLC opinion, why did this investigation continue?”
Mueller: “The OLC opinion itself says you can continue the investigation even if you are not going to indict the president.”
Johnson: “Did president Trump direct White House counsel Don McGahn to fire you as special counsel mid investigation?”
Mueller: “Yes.”
Well. That last one especially is a doozy.

Reuters headline:
"In dramatic testimony, Mueller says he did not exonerate Trump."
Actually I just noticed I never cited any source for my “Ratcliffe is angling for the Director of National Intelligence job” post so here’s CNN mentioning it now.
Posts
Did you exonerate the President?
No
Was the president guilty?
No
What the FUCK
Collins railroaded him and Mueller did a shit job.
I think the key is in question number one, they didn't charge and refuse to comment on culpability until after he is no longer president.

No because guilty in the legal system is when you are convicted.
No matter what, our system still assumes innocence even if there is overwhelming evidence till a conviction in a court or a plead of guilty occurs.
Edit: The DoJ does not determine guilt. They are part of the executive branch, the judicial branch and the courts determine guilt.

He's frustratingly doddering.
He knows what he is doing which is adding nothing to the proceedings

Mueller: “Yes.”
Well. That’s pretty damning already.

Barring any further "bombshells," I imagine this is going to be the top-level reaction from basically every news source save Fox.
New York magazine has taken the same tack.
Let’s hope that the media continues this way. Otherwise we are screwed.
