Petra's growths are scary. I'm pretty sure she can be set up to wreck face with any physical weapon in the game swordmaster style. Except from a flying mount. I want to take her wyvern lord, but I may be better off running her assassin...

From what I gather there is a dude on the Blue Lions from a country that the Church doesn't like and everyone doesn't trust him but Dimitri is like HE'S ONE OF THE GOOD ONES and while given the very subtle hints at the church being fuckin shady as hell I am confident it will shake out in an at least interesting way from the sidelines of another team it is COP CITY over in that house

Right after I made my last post Annette annihilated three people in the next battle and got MVP.

Felix may be a bit of an arrogant bastard but he is at least backing his words up with some very decent sword skills.

Blue Lions have the best hairstyles as a collective, despite Dimitri’s greasy locks, so that helps!

Overall a solid house so far.

No, you aren't given a giant stat stick off the bat this time. Probably why the first few battles are so rough on hard mode - nobody to bait and soak and soften stuff up.

been having fun with this, but also i've been very narrowly winning every fight and also don't feel like i hae a total grasp on the new way the classes and combat stats work, it feels very unstructured compared to older FEs in a way that's got me feeling kind of lost

i'm winning so far but i'm worried that i'm creeping toward a really shitty game state

To me it just doesn’t feel like you have a lot of variation at the beginning, everyone is the same class just with different weapon proficiencies. I imagine there will be more mechanics to deal with increased difficulty as the game goes forward.

I think getting doubled is dependent on the weight of your weapon and your opponent's. Swords tend to be lighter than axes so they occasionally strike twice. Gauntlets too, I think there was only one occasion so far in which Raph didn't punch twice for me.

(I'm also playing on Hard btw)

From what I've gathered so far:

Classes provide stat bonuses and combat arts that will frequently counter other classes. Like Knightkneeler cleaning house on Knights. They are less of a classic Rock Paper Scissors and more of getting your characters to unlock sets of tools that are useful in specific situations.

Stats I've got less of a grip on stats but thats just because I haven't sat down and read the tooltips

And Battalions seem to be more impactful status effect style moves. Like attacking 3 units in a row and stopping them from moving for a turn, or giving everyone in 4 squares +5 movement for a turn. They seem to be less damage focused and more status effect and area control-y.

That's what I was getting at. The Edelgard thing is an actual thought you might have about someone you just met. and then the Dimitri and Claude ones are so overly melodramatic.

This attempt at FE:A is going much better! I think that somehow I missed that you can “pair” with adjacent tiles, not just actual pairs. So far everyone’s been a lot safer, and sharing more XP.
