You can wait out his NP if you've got a bunch of nondamaging NPs, which incidentally is another reason he's bad as a Servant (not only do you need everyone to hit him, you need them to not just use their infinite-use skills and also not kill him).
I was running Waver/BB/Tamamo, for instance, and my plan going in was to just do [weak face card]+Waver NP+Tamamo NP on his beast mode turn. I ended up not needing it, but as long as I'd have dealt less than 5k damage with the face card I would probably have been fine-ish?
If you don't have nondamaging stuff, though, or if you fire it off early, you're kind of screwed. Might as well go for the big damage if you're going to die anyway!
Well, I may have had some recent extreme failures on NA, but things are a bit different on JP. New Lostbelt is up, so I did two 11 rolls and got the new Orion and finally a second copy of kaleidoscope.
Ereshkigal is good. When comparing her to other SSR Lancers, the question is largely about what other Servants you're bringing into battle.
Eresh is an AOE Buster, meaning she's good for wave clearing. This is enhanced with her skills, which include a 50% (at level 10) NP self charge with built-in Buster effectiveness, a party def/NP gain/max hp buff, and some self survivability with a single turn invincible/debuff immune/death-immune/buff removal resist.
Artoria (Lancer) is also an AOE Buster, so she's also useful for laying waste to large groups of Archers. Her NP also allows her to ignore invincibility, a rare but useful effect. Her skill set is typical of Artorias, with a party attack buff (3 turns), self Buster buff (1 turn), and a self NP charge with built-in debuff clear.
Scathach is very different to the other two. She's a single target Quick, with a built-in Stun and a low chance for instant death. Her skills are completely dedicated to nuking a boss, with a selectable single turn Quick buff, a single turn anti-undead/anti-Divine buff (obviously very situational and very crucial for deleting bosses that have those traits), and, since she's Cu's teacher, she has some survival with a single turn Evade with built-in crit strength and crit gather (3 turns). Shishou pairs very well with the Quick meta, so if you manage to get Skadi later this year, she'll be enhanced even further.
I am starting to feel very good about my roll.
Christ, I'm so polluted on archers, though. I was already feeling bad that I wasn't getting enough use out of Robin.

I'd like to add to Eresh that her third skill gives a status to the party that modifies her NP so that it also gives a 20% attack buff to the party for 3 turns. The skill also lasts for three turns, and Eresh's NP gain is strong enough that with a bit of luck you can get her NP off twice in those three turns, giving you a turn with +40% attack buff for a turn and +20% for 5 turns. She's not just good for wave clearing, but is a really solid support option as well.
I just feel like posting this here to show how ridiculous he is. I've seen some screens and footage of absurd Buster Crit numbers.
Grand Archer.
12,557 Attack. 9th highest overall in JP. Highest among all Archers.
13,494 HP.
QABBB Deck. 3/3/1/5 Hitcounts. 8% Star Gen (average). 0.96% NP Gen on Attacks (absurdly high).

Gains 10 Critical Stars per turn for 3 turns.
+30-50% Attack for 3 turns (based upon level).
+100-200% Critical Damage for three turns (Based upon Overcharge).
LB1's in just a couple months, and I hear it's one of the best.
...Wait, no, I double-checked and it's probably in April. Good Lord that's a lot of reruns. Setsubun and Valentines are new, at least, and a KnK rerun is welcome.
Bowman of Three Sisters A+: +300-500% Star Absorption for 3 turns. +50-100% Buster Crit Damage for 3 attacks for 3 turns. 7-5 turn CD.
This ability is worded a little strangely. It's not just that his next three busters get a crit damage boost; each time he uses a buster card, it applies a crit damage up buff for one turn (before the attack). So it does boost that crit, but it also buffs his other crits for that turn. And it can absolutely stack multiple times in the same turn.

Working through the event, and the berserker node offered a rare chance to test out Medusa Lancer's new quick debuff after her NP. As noted, Medusa herself doesn't benefit from this debuff - it really doesn't last long enough for her to charge her NP again - but others do. Anecdotal, since I'm squeezing this in before work and have only had a few chances to run it with the same setup, but running a party of Mash, her, and Jack (max level, no grails on both) let me line up a combo on the boss. Firing their NPs in that order seemed to result in a 100k-ish damage increase overall (notably, this was almost enough to one-shot the boss) as opposed to going Mash-Jack-Medusa; the boost to Jack's damage vastly eclipsed, and easily offset, what Medusa would gain from going last.
Much as I love Medusa in all her forms, I recognize she's lackluster as lancers go, so this was a rather surprising result. I know quick meta is hinging on the release of Skadi but I want to play around with this some more; I think some combos could pull off some really solid numbers with her support.
Disposable funds are currently tied up with the Steam sale and last-minute gifting, but I couldn't resist a couple more tries. Fortunately, a special little lady showed up with a third Kaleidoscope in tow. I took that as a cue to throw the other 10-pull towards Sheba and at last she responded, too; I gave her ears a scratching and fed her a few embers from the latest line to get the ball rolling. (Hit the wrong button and didn't screengrab the latter roll, nothing else of interest in it.)
The moral of the story is, sometimes willpower is just holding you back. Not often, mind, but you take the luck where you can get it
Trying to farm 5th Gate is the fucking worst aaaaaaaaaa
Yeah, assassin nodes suck.
There's a lot more offensive casters in the game now, as well as alter-egos now too. They suck a lot less than they used to.
(Aside: Grailing Caster Umu was an inspired choice.)
Throwing CasNero at stuff does work wonders; with all her buffs going she just ends things. That said, I've gotten good mileage out of a stab-and-dab setup with Hans, Medea, and Waver. It's not a fast run, granted, but it's nice when I want to just blindly click on blue cards until victory while I'm doing laundry or something.
Wow, Medusa Lancer was actually really well kitted for the final boss. Her charm worked on it and we basically stunlocked it through the first and a good way into the second break bar. The debuffs are painful, but taunts and clears kept them off the heavy hitters long enough to do the job.
Now of course, we enter the true spirit of the season: farming as many embers/as much QP as possible while the event lasts.
Still working through clearing the shop before I resign myself to Sands. Gilgamesh is the MVP this event with all the Weak to Enuma Elish.
Candles are done, Bells about halfway through, then time for Snowmen. After that I only really want 10 boxes because Da Vinci event is so much more worth.
I don't know if you can really hold up "all the Weak to Enuma Elish" as notable when that's pretty much always the case
it's literally easier to list the ones who aren't weak, hence why all the wikis and whatnot do so
notable, the only ones who aren't weak but have are weak to Gilgamesh are Shiki (Saber) and MHXA, while the only ones that both resist Archers and don't care about Enuma Elish are ROMA and Goetia
if they're a Servant, they're probably going to get messed up by Gil - that's part of why he's so good
the final farming boss of this event being a Saber just makes it even moreso
+1

My Gil is NP1 because lol as if, but IIRC I got him through a random summon ticket waaaay back in his first rate-up and he's been crushing Saber nodes for me ever since.

I Dmdid get 4 Eresh though. Is she any good? I already have Altria Pendragon lancer and Scathach.

edit- wow, looking at LB5 stuff, looks like the Buster meta might be back in play.

In NA stuff, got a lucky CE drop so I'll be able to pull off the 5 slot 3T stuff when the best nodes open
This release in JP is 31 Chapters total (26, plus 5 before you get to it for the prologue and intro).
And it's Part One!
Man I'm looking forward to the Lostbelts in NA.
