In doing some research for this week's pick'ems, I learned some interesting tidbits

Did you know for example, that Alabama lost to Clemson by 28?

    Big if true

Miami's WRs are badass blockers. Their OL not so much.

Oh, the Miami offense now has their own set of jewelry.

This game is an entertaining level of bad.

Glad to have these back, thanks as always to @ASimPerson and @Nirya for running this show

    Straight-Up

Mississippi @ Memphis - I kind of like the hubris of this scheduling by Ole Miss, but not enough to pick them
North Carolina vs. South Carolina - Both coaches seem to be schmucks, so I'm going with Vegas
Northwestern @ Stanford - I'm with RMED on this. I think Stanford starts strong then wilts and Northwestern gets better over the course of the season as they break in their new QB
Boise State vs. Florida State - Boise State can be dangerous, but August in Tallahassee might be a tough ask for them

    Against the Spread

Utah (-5.5) @ Brigham Young - My boldest cfb take this season is that Utah is going to go undefeated and make the playoff, so watch BYU prove me wrong in week 1
Wisconsin (-13.5) @ South Florida - I talk myself into Wisconsin more than I usually should but I'm not about to stop now
Missouri (-17.5) @ Wyoming - There's no such thing as Wyoming football and you cannot convince me otherwise

Fresno State @ Southern California (-13.5) - in the Shutdown Fullcast bold predictions pool I didn't pick USC to go 0-3, but I did pick them to go 0-5. That sounds weird, but my reasoning is this - I think USC will probably stumble their way to victory in one, maybe even two of the first three games (this one, home against Stanford and at BYU). But if the Trojans do go 0-3? They're DEFINITELY going 0-6 (home against Utah, at Washington, at Notre Dame) and that would be just delightful

Houston @ Oklahoma (-24.5) - I don't know what I make of Jalen Hurts just yet, and even with the talent disparity I have very little faith in Oklahoma's defense against a Holgerson offense. This spread feels way too big.

    Game of the Week

Oregon vs. Auburn - Pure spite pick. Justin Herbert is very good and I know nothing about Auburn's new QB, but I watched UW's very talented O-line get roughed up on the road against Auburn to start the season last year and if Oregon's line takes care of business in a similar situation this year I'm going to be irrationally mad about it

I realized I had officially become an old man a few years back when teams started bringing out props to celebrate turnovers.

    Props are fine.

Some props are real dumb though.

I didn't think the whole "We can't pay players, it would ruin College Football," argument had a lot of credibility to start, but Miami bringing out a diamond encrusted turnover chain makes thr whole thing beyond farce.

Is Florida the new USC in regards to being vastly overrated to start the year?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

This is a perfect opening week football game: neither OL can block and neither defense can tackle. Every Michigan fan is having Hoke flashback trauma.

I mean, they’re trying to evoke the “golden age” of Miami football, when Luther Campbell was openly paying players

The truest trap I have ever laid in this thread: making fans jump up to declare that no, in fact their favorite team is the actual most overrated team in college football.

They usually give a lot of leeway when the QB's arm motion is impacted by a hit, which I think was the real reason.

4th and 9 on the 30 in a 4 point game with two timeouts and 4:35 left is about as tough as this gets, to be honest. Go is right but I think it's surprisingly close if you have a good kicker.
