I'm coming round to the idea that they're either holding stuff back for narrative reasons or it's just a really flimsy release. There's a ton of stuff that's supposedly being included in the book but apparently... doesn't seem worthy of being used for marketing instead of another article about the new models?

They got to fill next week too cause it only goes on pre-order this weekend. So I bet there is more stuff they just don't want to blow their load early.

I would suggest just all Gauss blaster for the Immortals. I'm pretty sure the tesla carbine suffers a lot from -1 hit modifiers unless there was an update that changed how tesla carbines work. It has been a pretty long time since I've played.

Edit: Or there might actually be situations where the tesla is strong. I remember seeing something about tesla being good against harlequins.

For kill team. Deathmarks definitely work better in kill team than 40K and Gauss blasters work better in kill team than tesla carbines. Tesla carbines are great in 40K because to get the extra hits you just need a 6+ and with the right dynasty and buffs you can get that to 4+ but in kill team it is an unmodified roll of a 6 so it is harder to get.

Though I think I have some rules confused in kt. With the -hit for certain stuff is that applied before or after the roll? So if I get -1 to fit and roll an unmodified 6 do I still get the extra hits?

Hilariously no. You need a 6 or higher on the roll so if you have negatives (such as being over half range or shooting an obscured target) a 6 roll will not necessarily get you the extra hits.

Alright, that is what I thought. I haven't use tesla at all in the few KT games I've played because of that.

I think I'll still bring one Tesla, for the fun of building it if nothing else. Plus at shorter range it should still be useful. Though speaking of dynasty buffs don't the elite rules include stuff like that?

I'm not sure, I haven't purchased the elite rules yet. I've had a lot of trouble getting many games of KT in so I didn't feel like it was worth grabbing yet.

Looking at those, they probably would have been a better purchase. My kit has 12 brushes -- 2 are flats which look like they'll be good for base and priming, 5 are a set of 4/0, 3/0, 2/0 0 and 1 in rounds... but also in 5 of the same sizes in rigger style, which means they have like a three times as long tip. Good for watercolor... not sure about miniatures.

    Edit:

In other news, my two risky purchases have tracking numbers. I picked up a Forge World Telemon Heavy Dreadnought at 60% off on eBay, and a squad of Custodian Guard at ~50% off US Prices (but = to hobby shop prices in the EU). The former is from a seller in China, the latter from Russia, so, uh, we'll see how this all goes.

Actually in kill teams an immortal comms specialist with a Tesla carbine makes a nice little point grabber. You can advance and shoot, and use the comms ability on yourself to obfuscate the negative from advancing to keep the 6 or higher roll in the possibilities.

I've never used brush soap, never had brushes worth taking care of, heh.

I hate to think how much I've spent on Citadel paints tho. I used to just use Delta Ceramcoat, $1 for like 2 ounces of ultra-chunky paint. Yeah, colors weren't right but who cares? Now? Just did an inventory -- 29 pots of citadel, and I still have a good number in my to-buy list.

So they are going over the Phoenix Rising rules right now. All the exarchs can get double exarch powers. You can either replace the normal exarch power or spend a cp and combine them with normal exarch power.

    So examples they are showing:

-Give your howling banshees a 5+++ in the fight phase.
-Fire Dragons can change their fusion guns to pistol 1 if you need to. (kind of sucks in my opinion)
-Dire Avengers: If a model in the unit has been killed at any point in the game add 1 to hit and wound rolls.
-Dark Reapers: While the exarch has a tempest launcher, you can reroll dice to determine the number of attacks.
-Swooping Hawks: When the exarch fires overwatch the opponent subtracts 2 from their charge roll.
-Shining Spears: 3++ save on the exarch verse ranged
-Crimson Hunters: When resolving attacks made with ranged weapon by this model against Fly models add 1 to the damage for that weapon. So repulsor hunting.
-Warp Spiders: They did two. Web of Deceit-Once per battle in your movement phase you can remove and replace this unit using the deep strike placement rules. Spider's bite: Powerblades this units exarch is equipped with have a strength +1 and damage 2.

They are going through the craftworld traits for make your own as well I figure someone who is a faster typer and not working on reddit will grab those. Also I missed striking scorpions because I had to step away for a second.

    Edit:

Got striking scorpions. If a unit is in 1" of this unit at the end of fight phase this unit may fall back 6" as if it is your movement phase.

Man, Crimson Hunter Exarchs are literally the last unit in the Craftworlds Codex that needed a buff...

Apparently the book's going to be thin on the ground for Drukhari - they just get custom obsessions and nothing else. I can see some interesting interactions already though, they have stuff like a free 6+++ (rerolling 1s) on their Kabal vehicles and a potentially scary ability to get Covens poison weaponry down to wounding on 2s.

I think the fire dragon one is because they used to count as having power weapons in melee.

It’s the only thing that makes sense.

  • MazzyxMazzyx Comedy Gold Registered User regular
Also remember there are more than one choice for each exarch and they only showed a single one except the Warp Spiders which has two shown. And they can use the ability they already have instead. Crackshot on fire dragon exarchs is already really good.
