Speaking of that I was in the mood to scrub it out in some MK11 and I forgot that there are some wild ones online.
Like you know what's the worse thing in fighting games? When your opponent does the dumbest, most illogical thing they could at any one moment...and it works. Not because it was a good idea, but because like it was such a foolish thing to do you never even considered the possibility.

full screen fatal blows in neutral is the purest form of yomi
one time I was playing a friend in that crazy arcsys Hokuto no Ken game, we had both gotten each other down to zero stars, and I walked up to him as Kenshiro and did my FATAL KO move, but he was on yomi layer 1000 and did Raoh's FATAL KO, and the FATAL KOs clashed and it was the hypest shit no joke

if my opponent doesnt turn and look at me, wide-eyed, what was the point of showing up
I played against a Negan who clearly knew how to kbd, low parry every single one of my lows, whiff punish all my shit, and do optimal wall combos at Expert rank
He teched my chain throws! Every time!
It legitimately blows my mind that I had an easier time tonight fighting a Genbu Lei than an Expert Negan; no offense Farangu
I suppose I had an easier time playing like a scrub as Claudio, because easy character is easy, but idk how I will ever even get to green ranks on this character
EDIT: Of course I post this, then go back into ranked for the salty runback, and immediately come across someone who scrubbed me up earlier
And I just...played real slow, real defensive, and he had no idea what to do. I lost a few rounds, but I stopped trying to play any kind of offensive game at all, and it worked really well. Hm

Of course, someone could also just be resetting rank to sandbag, which is trivial on PC.
Every character, in any other game, would be brokenly OP. But because they’re all together it all works.
UNIST and KI have a similar feel, now that I think about it. Every single character is total bullshit in some game breaking way, but somehow they work together
I think Guilty Gear characters are at the point of being just below an entire team in UMvC3 in terms of power, significantly above an individual character in UMvC3, but not yet at the point of being certain individual XF3 UMvC3 characters.... unless we're talking Gold characters in GG, in which case they have the speed of XF3 UMvC3 characters but not their hilariously juiced damage.
But sometimes it's nice to play characters in a lower-powered game like in SF, because it's nice to not have to deal with so much crazy stuff. Not gonna lie, sometimes it's nice to play a game where nobody can air dash.
when you are playing online nobody can hear you mashing the super motion furiously while you are being hit by a combo/blockstring
Unless you're playing MvC3 on the pc, which has the mic turned on full-time by default. Then they get to hear your mashing, swearing, cries of anguish, and cries of anguish that are comprised primarily of swearing.

Pakistan Steve player Heera Malik FT10 vs Japanese most well-known Geese, Chikurin.
I hope Heera Malik gets a sponsorship and gets to travel to other tournaments, because his Steve is fun to watch and superbly played.
Heera Malik is CRAZY GOOD. He has a mastery of getting around Geese's fireballs and punishing Geese for throwing one that I have never seen done with such consistency. He repeatedly ends rounds with Steve's punch parry because Chikurin is autopiloting one of the KOF strings. When Geese has meter, b+3,2 is one of Geese's strongest tools but Heera Malik uses the punch parry against the 2 with a high frequency of success, so just using b+3,2 MAX as an automatic way to get in with advantage is totally gone. Chikurin looks absolutely baffled for a good while before he starts figuring out a way to fight back and get a little streak of his own, but Heera Malik counter adapts well.
The fact that Heera Malik won the first 5 games in a row means that if this was any regular tournament setting or regular tournament finals, Chikurin never would've gotten any wins at all. Chikurin has a look on his face at the end of some of those first few games where you can feel how shocked he is at what he's just experienced.

You know hmm...I was just thinking about Shadow Lady in SFV.
She plays a lot like a Marvel Character and I know that generally companies like to do proof of concept using existing tech before they fully invest in something else.

Really, it's Capcom's gift to pc players.
I never knew that and that's amazing
It really was. Most players have gotten wise to it and turned off their mics, but for the first couple of months after release it seemed like 80% of players just had em on all the time.

Chikurin deserves to be a TO or some shit when he steps away from tournament play, the dude is cultivating an entire country's scene by giving them an international spotlight

This particular series was set up by KURO KURO, who is one of the pillars of the Japanese Tekken community. KURO KURO is also the person who was behind the FT10 series where Arslan Ash was flown in to play against a bunch of top players in Asia, and another similar FT10 series with Super Akouma. Chikurin being a renowned sponsored player definitely makes these sorts of events the events that they are, and absolutely raises their profile.
It's often the case that the event videos are locked behind a subscriber only wall on the Twitch channel which did the live streaming of it for a little while before getting re-released on the youtube channel.
EDIT:
lmao these videos have this line in the description:
with the help of one of my pals who knows japanese to verify, it does indeed say that
Is what Arslan Ash said true? “Pakistan has a lot of guys stronger than me.”
Chikurin and KURO KURO actually went to investigate Pakistani Tekken power rumored to be Makai.
"Makai" is the demon world you might commonly see cited in anime/manga, drawn from the term in Buddhism.

People dump on Street Fighter for leaning heavily on nostalgia, but damn MK is trying to assemble a cast that would be all-star in like.... 1993 or something.

So that set with Heera Malik is BY FAR the most viewed of the Pakistani FT10s posted so far on Kuro Kuro's youtube channel, currently clocking in at 15k views, which is like 4 times the next nearest one.
What is truly disgusting is how wholesome the top replies to it are:

I have to say this talk people are having about online play on Twitter is interesting to me.
Like I understand the whole "go to locals" shit 10 years ago and netcode was just bad in general. But these days plenty of games have great netplay so it just sounds silly now.
