My supervisor wanted me to stop by his desk first thing when I got in and I was worried I was in trouble because I've been letting work slide a little bit to stay caught up on school stuff

But I was not in trouble he just had some stuff he wanted to be sure he explained to me today

I am looking forward to being done today, going home and having a nice evening

also I'm leaving early Monday to pick up my mother-in-law at the airport, so that will be interesting.

Indeed. What exotic gifts will strange people at the airport give you?

Just make sure you keep your bag in sight at all times... the downside to your superpower is that people might hide a gift in your bag for a customs officer to find >_>

Printer guy recognized my My Hero Academia heat-activated mug yesterday so I had to fill it with hot tea to show him the full image! Then I recommended he and his wife watch Mob Psycho 100.

And I got permission to leave straight after today’s management meeting to go take my kids to Kaiser to get their flu shots!

Friend of mine teaches literature and writing stuff at a community college and floored one of her students who was like "Well, I mean the thing I kinda want to write about you wouldn't get because it's a show about this kid in a world where everyone has super powers..." and she goes "Boku no Hero Academia, duh. Yes write about that. Please write about something. Do the assignment. "

"Adults can't possibly be into the same things I am... wait, they are? Oh no, my fave is uncool!"

That time when I was in 2nd grade and we were pretending to be X-Men and the teacher came by and said, "Ok, I'll be Nightcrawler" and we were all like "How do you know about the X-men!?"

    Blew my little mind

I had a friend in high school who was super into 2-tone ska, which as uncultured suburban australian teens we thought was pretty obscure if not just downright whacky. Anyway she listened to it pretty much non-stop, so when our English teacher asked her to take off the headphones and said "What are you listening to there, anyway" everyone was like "oh dude don't even go there, you won't get it".
And then got very, very quiet when he started listing off band names.

Australian "old people" (classic rock and pop) radio stations used to play bands like Madness and The Specials all the fucking time in the 90s!

As a committed triple j listener I can't comment, but her preferred bands were much closer to the Jamaican style than anything I heard circulating on pop stations even in the 80s, so maybe not strictly speaking two tone. Though definitely UK not US. She had a hipster bent.

Ugh I am not feeling amazing today

Not sure if it's just early morning crappiness or what. I'm gonna try and hang on until the trains run again, at least, so I don't have to take the bus home.

I think I need a new reaction button to react properly to this.

I just don't know what that button would be...?

Lord_AsmodeusLord_Asmodeus goeticSobriquet: Here is your magical cryptic riddle-tumour: I AM A TIME MACHINERegistered User regular
Well I've been getting more hours... because our terrible other coworker, after taking week off to go to Georgia to be with his sick dad (which resulted in a suspicious number of facebook pictures of him in casinos) suddenly quit the following week, so it took us a couple of days to find another contractor to replace him, and then we had to get the new guy up to speed, and then he just didn't show up one day or call in which was yesterday, but he showed up today. And next week the best worker in our warehouse who gets more shit done than anyone else is taking a vacation to visit his grandparents with his son who hasn't met them (which I do not begrudge) we're going to get somebody else in to cover next week but who knows how competent they'll be. More hours is nice, in abstract, but this is a fairly physically demanding job and I sort of prefer not having too many hours of lifting and stacking heavy boxes and vices and shit.

I tried to fire the job thread for being too old and now HR is breathing down my ass.
