It's absolutely what it looks like, and I don't know why (given their history of racism over the years even in this modern Vince/HHH era of running things) they'd get the benefit of the doubt for it
Good on ACH for calling it out publicly at least. God knows the company's had plenty of talent willing to look the other way or lie about its behavior not affecting them because the dollars mattered more that minute to them

The thought occured to me too. I think the last time I saw Myles was him supporting Keith Lee after a loss in his Dijakovic series; I'm not sure if he's had a match on TV since his post-Breakout Tournament loss to Adam Cole. His character was basically the Apollo Crews-style "smiling guy who's happy to be here" void, maybe they're doing a shoot-style reboot?
Or they just made a dumb, bad shirt. It's probably that.
Ok, these make me more confident that this is a work. They played with the whole "WWE is kind of super racist" thing in the build to Kofi winning the title at Mania, this is maybe running with that.

I really desperately didn’t want to believe some people just really want to give this company the benefit of the doubt by any means necessary. Because it’s staggering, I’ve never seen any behavior like it
Is the Saudi show worth watching that much this week? Is the Brock title run that entertaining, the Seth title run that satisfying, that it just can’t be quit and walked away from? Everything has to be on some 5th dimensional chess that justifies it and makes it actually good, sane, and in a lot of cases not bigoted (This week I saw people elsewhere defend the Steph pride shirt tweet because “WWE has treated out talent well for a long time going back to Kanyon” and that made me see red i was so simultaneously mad/baffled)
I'm also not going to go out of my way to judge individual workers in a deeply exploitative system for not speaking out, but I am really glad ACH did and hope more comea of it on a broader scope
Yeah, that NXT dump of shirts were all lazy and uninspired and that racist design is the cherry on that shit sundae. Nobody could have been pleased with what they got.

Even if this somehow wasn't racist because of the historical iconography it would still be kinda racist because who the fuck sees ACH and thinks that smiling is that guy's most memorable trait?
TL Foster actually brought something similar up around 1:39:00 into the latest Cheap Popcast. The total lack of a dominant run by a black wrestler is strange. The near total lack of black characters other than "happy smiling guy" is weird.
