Since it began airing on the Network, a black man has never held the NXT title
Depending on your racial definitions Kofi was either the second or first (if The Rock being "half-black" doesn't count for whatever reason) to hold the actual WWE Title. In the history of the company.
the value of which champ you are has been nebulous since the introduction of the world title, so either you gotta include henry and booker t in the conversation, or just leave it solely as the rock being the champ, imo. optics from the outside in just aren't gonna be trained to weigh one title more than the other.
neither way of looking at it paints a pretty picture, but adding extra technicalities to it is just gonna muddy things up.
either way, including ron simmons wouldn't work because he was the champ in a whole different company.
I saw ACH's tweets early in the morning and then retweeted them, only to unretweet them a few hours later due to honestly not being sure if it's a work or not. His first tweet definitely doesn't sound like it, but his follow ups have a twinge of work on it. And to make things even more weird, it could potentially have started from a real place and now is going to be transitioned to a work.
None that excuses this fucking thing of a shirt mind you. Also, I had NO IDEA 'Jordan Myles' was ACH, as I've kinda been out of the loop with NXT.
I think it was just WWE that doesn't consider the other title the 'real' world title, since it came from WCW.
The title that Henry and Booker T won (in WWE) wasn't the WCW lineage championship. It was created out of thin air (much like the Universal title) after the WCW and WWE ones were unified by Jericho. Brock won the unified title and decided to go exclusive to Smackdown shortly after the first brand split. Raw had no top title, so the World Championship was created and IIRC handed to HHH. It was the same belt (physical object) as the old NWA/WCW title but a completely new championship (imaginary record-keeping).
Albert Hardie Jr. (aka Jordan Myles) approved this t-shirt for sale. As always, we work collaboratively with all of our performers to develop logos and merchandise designs and get their input and approval before proceeding. This was the same process with Albert, and we responded swiftly once he later requested that the logo/t-shirt be redesigned. No t-shirts were sold.
Passing the blame onto him and then saying "but hey at least we made no money from it (also you'll never see official proof of this, believe us at our word because we never lie)"
I know wrestling is weird with everyone having multiple names and such, but seeing "Triple H attended a meeting" in an email makes me laugh.
Also I wonder about the NXT contracts. When they were strictly the development brand the pay was supposedly lower but the travel stuff was covered by the company. I wonder if they stopped covering it for those who got the pay bump. Like how it seems like a great thing when you move from hourly to salary only to realize you now work more and make less money.
He also clarified that what happened was he expressed his discomfort over the design, Baker Landon sent that email and other messages saying that it came from HHH himself and his hands were tied
Then later, ACH spoke with HHH and when he brought up the issue HHH acted like he had gotten ACH's approval for the shirt
Turns out a minor league suddenly ballooning to a place employing well over a hundred people is an unsustainable thing without near-constant renovations, internally and externally
This ACH stuff is terrible. Talent should probably have final say on merchandise or at least Tshirt designs but WWE is going to WWE.
The response from WWE has been really, really bad I hope ACH can get out of there soon because their response was tone deaf and took no ownership of the issue...

I've said this before that the WWE's increasingly desperate attempts to recreate the Summer of Sami are what caused them to have the talent bloat they have now and make NXT feel like a trophy case instead of an actual show

NXT just became a dumping ground for talent WWE didn't want, but didn't want others to have. That's not a knock on the talent, Adam Cole should be a world champ up on the roster with UE and Brock and Cain shouldn't be anywhere at all. But it is what it is, the main roster has who WWE wants, but they need somewhere to stock the people they don't want AEW to have.

It strikes me odd that the email uses the names Triple H and Road Dogg.

Many old school wrestlers get really pissy still if you use their real names, and Triple H is especially particular about this.
Also, using their ring names keeps you from mentally betraying yourself and using their real names in a moment where their ring name is appropriate.
Kinda like how swearing less makes you less likely to swear on live TV, or in church.

Should I make a 3 hour hungover drive on New Years to see this or hope they come to Tampa soon?
