Nice mix of high energy and melancholy, and the first ED was the best at 'aren't you sad it's over?'.

Also, Viz were the gold standard for how to translate lyrics.

Speaking of translating lyrics, I never did complain about the fact that Crunchyroll didn't sub the songs in the final episode of Symphogear.

That, in addition to several blatant fuck-ups in the subs that were there.

Is there just some translation farm where people are grabbing single sentences from a heap and translating them in a vacuum or something? Because sometimes it's shocking how often I see subs that are just blatant nonsense that couldn't possibly have been written by a person with any context.

CR doing subs is very much an exception, not a rule. Yeesh, imagine Madoka Magica if they hadn't subbed the episode 3 ED.

Anyone have any shows where they liked the ED a good bit more than the OP. Isn't even that I don't like the OP for Psycho-Pass. I just really love the ED.

Less of a blow-out than Madoka's forgettable OP vs. its killer ED, since I like its OP quite a bit, but BBK/BRNK has one of my favorite MYTH & ROID songs (and my single most listened to song, period) for its ED, so

Does playing a different version of the OP over the credits as the show count for the badass moment?

Hm. While it's OP and ED are both top 5 for me because I fucking love villain songs, I can't decide whether I like Youjo Senki's OP more, JINGO JUNGLE, for being top shelf MYTH & ROID, or its ED, Los! Los! Los! for being Yuuki Aoi singing something so very, very different from the Symphogear friends and justice stuff I'm used to hearing from her.

Baccano is great because it somehow, somehow manages to do several ongoing mysteries and split the story between four different asynchronous timeframes and many different characters and still manages to work.

It's also great because the plot is great and basically every single character, even the absolute pieces of shit, are amazing. Almost every one would be the breakout star of another show.

A reminder that Firo is main character-ish.

Looks like they added in the songs the final episode at some point. Must have been a time/workflow thing.

That's exactly what it is, from what I've heard. This is why most games don't have translated lyrics. That never would have flown back in the 90s.

Baccano is a very tight story, and doesn't seem to add anymore than it needs.

Durarara just keeps going and going and adding more and more to the point where you just lose track. The peak was the Yellow Scarves arc, after that, it just gets crazy town.

    Fun crazy town, but still.

But Baccano's novels keep going and going too, so maybe its adaptation just knew when to quit.

Okay, except that I've read that the Baccano light novels:
Have a storyline where Lad, Jacuzzi and Huey all break out of Alcatraz.

And also there's a modern-day story where the Immortals are meeting on a cruise ship that gets taken over by pirates.

Same deal, then. I guess it's good the anime stopped where it did.

I've read the first three Baccano novels which I think covered the anime, and I enjoyed them, but I think the DRRR novels are way better. It's clear how he improved as an author.

Did...Did that opening introduce like 15 characters?

18, actually - 17 named, plus 1 unnamed major character (Claire). There was a gag a while back of redoing the Baccano opening with the cast of other shows, and they would usually put someone who popped up late in Claire's slot.

Do voice actors, especially for niche stuff like anime, generally get residuals?

I’d guess not. Even the simpsons voice cast doesn’t from what I recall.

Maybe better safe than sorry though. At least funimation has cut ties.
