I lean heavily on lance and I've also had to adjust my playstyle in Iceborne. I was never much good at soloing anyway, but now I find I really appreciate a couple other people in my hunts.
On that topic: Acidic Glavenus lances are pretty good, yeah? I have materials for the top-end version, but as usual am paralyzed by options and afraid that I'll make a "mistake".

its fine in a master's touch/protective polish build, but it has very, very low purple (10 units)
it is the highest effective raw lance right now, but once you get to MR100 you could make the ruiner nergie lance and use that for just a bit less raw and more purple

you can also run final boss lance and either get more purple out of it or drop 2 handicraft, run the same 10 units of purple with more white, and just slot in agitator or something to compensate for the slightly lower raw

But where the heck do solid bones come from? I've got enough mats for 2 folgers anjanath GS upgrades sans the solid bones.
Working in tempered monster investigations in the normal hunt progression is great. Inspired even. But whomever approved the improved roll on uragaan is mad.

I drove her off once on my second attempt. Took her tail thanks to good luck with mounting then a bunch of charged up GS attacks, but when I caught up she just ran back and forth doing a charge for like a minute straight without any openings.

Flash pods are your friend when it comes to flying monsters.
Third or fourth time was the charm. Being more aggressive with the GS worked out well. I was a bit afraid my trap wouldn't work (no clue why there are different types unless some don't work on certain monsters, and pitfall+flying seemed...iffy), but all ended well.
edit: Location seemed to matter quite a bit, I'm not sure why. Once I stopped engaging it in the little forested area in the NW and started fighting it in the adjacent area with the slope down/in the cavern once it ran, it got a lot easier to see what was coming and dodge.
I'm not sure if it was a visual thing, a terrain thing, or a frame rate thing.

Back when World was new on PC, I did that one with some friends. It was a hilarious parade of everyone scattering in the hopes that one of us would get their egg to camp intact. Future runs where we knew what was going on were much less exciting.

Ghillie mantle is your friend. Plop it on, grab your egg, and run back to the upperlevel base camp vial the long way. Laugh as rathalos/rathian looks pathetically for you.
As you don't need to fight, get a piece of gear with the pro-carrying skill to make it easier.

That zinogre HBG looks so cool, so now I'm looking at HBG's and damnit, I just settled on using SnS this time around...
Why not both?
Because I inevitably go overboard and make all the possible weapon trees, which takes forever, and never get around to playing the game.

I still haven't fought Odogaron yet, and I have something like 7 SnS, 4 SA, a couple bows, upgraded the initial LS and HBG. And then I was like "I should get around to doing the next quest", but I looked up Odogaron and I guess he's weak to ice, so then I spent last night collecting equipment to build the Legiana SnS.

So that stuttering issue I was having? I narrowed it down to something involving Steam. I had tried turning off the overlay and verifying caches, but nothing worked. I concluded it was probably some sort of connection to Steam server issues because they had gone down those days. Then after server maintenance yesterday, everything magically cleared itself up.

Sorry MH World, Bazelgeuse is still not a fun monster, especially when you just added Brachydios back in, a much more enjoyable fight where staying aware of your surroundings is key. Fortunately the armour set still looks goofy so I feel no need to farm for it.

Bazelgeuse I doubt was ever supposed to be 'fun'. Bezel was always the troll of MHW, much like Yian Garuga was for other games. He shows up when you're hunting something else, shits on your plans, and flies away only to repeat the process later. You only really hunt him because you want revenge on the prick.
