I forgot to mention that I love how casually they wrote off Flutie being eaten alive in his office to... Oh some wild dogs must have got in.
You haven't gotten to my favorite one yet (and the one we named the rule after), but "far-fetched and extremely casual dismissal of supernatural phenomenon" was one of the drinks in our Buffy drinking game in college.

Oh boy... This episode seems to be about the internet maybe!
I feel like there's several Buffy episodes that could fit that description, but they've all blurred together in my head.
I tried to do a buffy rewatch a few years ago, but struggled with how rough S1 is. Also the experience of watching it as a teenager in the 90s is hard to recapture. I suspect 20 years of exposure to Joss Whedon quip machines has somewhat taken the sheen off the dialogue for me.
Just wait until Wesley, then you're into the really good stuff.
Well, you have to continue with Angel to see the completion of a hell of a character arc with Wesley.
You say that like it's a bad thing!
Angel rules!
It does! Probably even more so than Buffy. At least way more consistent, even if it doesn't have a single episode as good as The Body. But it has a truly fantastic series finale -- that final shot is so great.
She said, "You're pretty good with words, but words won't save your life."
And they didn't.
So he died.

I assume David Boreanaz learns how to act eventually?
oh yeah the remaining 6 seasons are just the funeral and then people getting over it and moving on with their lives. Cordelia becomes the main character.
Oh man just wait until you get to flashbacks of early Angel days. Some primo wigs and accents.
I think the best of that probably doesn't arrive until the Angel series but still.
I have been watching Seinfeld lately and I forgot how much I hate how often it asks you to consider Jerry Seinfeld as a sexual being

I'm going to be traveling this weekend and will have unknown wifi Saturday night. I am going to fill my phone with downloads from Disney+. With that in mind, if you could download one, and only one, season of the Simpsons, which would it be?

Consensus will be the winner.
either 5 or 6, you can't go wrong with either of the David Mirkin seasons

I'm starting with 6 and seeing how much my phone can hold.
I do appreciate them having a button to download the whole season at once.

one of the things that surprised me, rewatching buffy, is how homophobic xander is. there's like one episode where someone is gay and he spends the whole time freaking out that people might think he's gay as well, which would obviously ruin his life
Xander has definitely aged badly but still works in a way. He was always kind of a jerky screwup. Just by nows standards it’s so much worse. It’s the toxic friend in a group everyone thinks will turn it around or improve or excuse with a “that’s just Xander”.
He’s like 4x the Xander he used to be and he was already pretty Xander.

Once More With Feeling is great because it's a surprisingly well done musical that I still get melodies from stuck in my head to this day. But the thing that makes it a really fantastic episode is the revelation Buffy drops on the Scooby gang near the end (paraphrased):
"After I died I was in Heaven and you selfish assholes brought me back here.
To Sunnyvale.
Which is basically Hell.
Fuck you all.
Also that Willow and Tara song is just a filthy, punny masterpiece.

Watched the premiere of High School Musical The Musical The Series, so far I’m iffy on it but I’ll stick with it for now
Nini and sarcastic STEM teacher rule, everyone else is pretty eh. Choreo kid did have the best joke of the episode though. Also that’s not how anyone casts anything
There’s also a bunch of new Pixar shorts here, labeled Sparkshorts. Don’t sleep on the Sparkshorts, people! There’s an adorable kitten and some robots

What I really appreciated about it (beyond, as you said, it being catchy as hell), is that the musical episode also progressed the story. Most of the other shows I've seen that have tried have been more along the lines of "Aaaah, we're suddenly trapped in the song dimension! None of this is relevant to anything else on the show!"

At some point in Angel they realised he was actually a pretty solid comedic actor and leveraged that a lot more.
He still broods a lot though.

Nice. It hasn't been viewable this way since the 90s, other than on dvd.
