Thanks to a payroll error(Workday is a dumpster fire) my paycheck was delayed for two weeks so I'm broke as broke can be for release day, but after watching a bit of Cohh's stream I'm 100% going to have to get this once I can. It looks exactly the kind of evolution I've been wanting out of a Fallout-style. Dark/self-aware humor, impactful skill decisions, not Gamebryo, etc.

Bold strategy.
Step one: make a multiplayer game using the IP of a long line of strictly single-player games. Make it look and play exactly like a F2P shooter supported by microtransactions, but sell it at the price point of a full-featured AAA game. Keep the microtransactions.
Step two: implement solo play in an attempt to capture the single-player audience that bought all your previous games. Keep the original price tag and the microtransactions, tack on an MMORPG-style monthly subscription fee for the privilege of ignoring the MMO part of the game.
Hey, ok, so if I want to play CoD WWII, but don’t want to pay like $60 for it, is there anything stopping me from just signing up for the Humble subscription, getting it, and cancelling?

Fallout 76 has at this point die hard partisans who will curse your name with their dying blood spittled breath for besmirching it so I figure that core will sustain it for some degree of long haul
Whatever TES VI will be, Im sure that it will no longer have mod support the way we know it.
Bethesda must really be angry when looking at people playing Skyrim 8 years after its release and thinking "man, if only there was some way for us to earn even more money"...

Seemed fine. I didn't get in to it as much as I have with previous titles, but it looks like there have been some substantial ones. I know there are some huge ones that built off the settlement system.
It make me reallllly wonder what Elder Scrolls VI will look like.
Like I somehow doubt they're gonna be happy with just the $60 up front sale.
A true masterpiece sequel to Skyrim, except you are constantly hunted by a pack of bored twelve year olds intent on corpse camping you and shouting racial slurs. Or $15 a month for a private server with commercial breaks every 20 minutes.

This is just the dumbest way to do private servers I can imagine. They must really want to protect the sanctity of the Crafting Experience, to make sure that people don't cheat in raw mats and then build pretty houses. They promised mod support, too, but if this is how they're doing private servers, then I can't imagine mod support will be like anything that I might actually want. You'll need to upload mods to the private server, and they'll charge you $3.99 per upload.
On the other hand, it's true that I feel anxious and uncomfortable around other people, and have often felt that I would be willing to pay just to make them go somewhere else.
Yeah I feel like the whole game subscription service idea is one that maybe made more sense when the trend was full steam ahead on microtransaction service games.
But that's not really whats on offer in game pass. I just don't see how they get into the black when they're throwing new release games in there while simultaneously struggling with the fact that $60 on launch isn't enough to cover large game budgets. Then if they've also got a bunch of smaller indie games then how much can those games possibly be making from it.
Games that aren't owned by Microsoft Studios have almost certainly had a huge bulk number of copies purchased, I wouldn't worry about them. It's how it works for services like the monthly free games of PS+.
As for if Microsoft's eating a loss on it, I dunno, maybe. Microsoft has been putting a lot of effort into building their brand and name. Stuff like the huge backwards compatibility push for the Xbone is not something that makes them a ton of money on the surface, but it's a large goodwill push into the Hearts And Minds Of Gamers. So in that sense, it may be that game pass is serving as a loss leader at this time to get you integrated into a Microsoft storefront ecosystem in the interest of converting you into an even more profitable consumer in the long run.

They've proven they're not technically competent enough to stop modding. They didn't even manage to stop people going into their secret room with all the pre-prepared future DLC items in it for ages.

It's Bethesda's best map in terms of design, environmental storytelling, and overall thought put into how the terrain can be traversed. The combat engine also feels refined compared to Fallout 4.
But the actual quests are sparse and the lack of life in the world outside of a few robot NPCs makes the experience feel shallow. It doesn't help that there aren't many hooks to get players together, so it is never gels as an MMO either.

And according to this article, GP members are playing more games in general (including games outside of GP) and also...
