candy is similar to revenge, in that it is both like the sweetest joy and best served cold
Chocolate that quickly melts while I am holding it is the worst.

As far as representation and/or objectification of women in Death Stranding goes, Rob did mention it in his review.
...Especially given how disastrously things start off with the introduction of a cast of characters with names like Die-Hardman, Fragile, and Deadman, which played into every preconception I brought with me to Death Stranding. I was only introduced to Kojima by some die-hard Metal Gear fans with Guns of the Patriots, and found that game both impenetrable due to its self-reference and deeply off-putting thanks to an overtly juvenile and sexist authorial voice and directorial gaze. Death Stranding is hardly subtle, but its clean slate liberates it from the weight of series history that Metal Gear increasingly struggled to bear, and if it still has an objectifying camera, it’s no longer leering and the character designs are more functional than stylized or sexualized. For a game whose marketing sometimes seemed to imply weirdness for its own sake, Death Stranding mostly wrestles with relatable and pressing fears and dread. But that also makes it all the more frustrating when it casts those themes aside for a facile homage to video games and “making connections.”
it's not a candy, but here's a little tip from me to you, a childhood treat my grandpa got me hooked on: put yourself a Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pie in the freezer
It was a well written apology that also managed to not actually call out what they felt they'd done wrong beyond responding slowly, and didn't include any actual action.
I think their take is they should have put our their revised ban sooner and been more responsive, but the apology is crafted in a way to make it sound like it's more expansive than that.
If they have some kind of broader followup they didn't want to get into on main stage then maybe there's more to it, but I think it's mostly a blanket apology that hopes they don't have to confront a reoccurence any time soon and get tested on what the new reaction is.

They apologized for not responding fast enough and not communicating
They didn't apologize for the actual things they did that were deserving of apology, you might notice
I mean the apology was so vague and buried in jerking off about what an amazing company they are, so you may not have noticed
People cheering for WoW Classic just shattered my brain
Who the fuck are these people
WoW Classic as a thing beyond just a novelty folks briefly check out completely baffles me
I played a ton of WoW in the early days but can't imagine playing WoW Classic. That said, a friend of mine with even more old WoW experience has been playing it and telling stories and it's fascinating. The mash-up of vets and kids brought in by Twitch streamers in a game environment that is more community based than any current mainstream thing is deeply weird.
tl;dr I'm not gonna play Classic but there's more to it than just "old game fun."

Yeah I mean if they're not going to reverse the ban, aren't they just apologizing for banning them for 6 months too long? But still implying that what they did was banworthy?
FoldingIdeas guy played Wow on some rarefied plane I could not ever even imagine to aspire to my playing of WoW was but the squirming of a worm compared to his feats
I'd actually be into just being able to access the pre-Cataclysm world and its storylines with all the modern quality of life improvements. Just so I can go through a story that makes sense with a character.
Or, failing that, I'd like to get to 60 in Classic, then be able to import that character into regular WoW and continue from there through the later expansions.
Basically I'd like to have the option to play WoW the way people play FFXIV?

I think my low key "favorite" part of it was them not mentioning any particulars about what they were apologizing for
They referred to it as a "Heated Gamer Hearthstone Moment"

if fairness ffxiv also has its own no-longer-accessible-but-still-canon-in-the-narrative 1.0
it's just that basically no one wants it to come back, besides maybe lore enthusiasts who would mostly just like easy access to the cutscenes without digging through old youtubes
my conspiracy brain wonders if this is a true dumbass who hoped people wouldn't pay attention and just mark him down on the list of people who courageously quit Deadspin

If I ever get into FFXIV, I definitely intend to first Youtube the cinematics from 1.0 to at least get up to speed on it. But even if that was still accessible there's no way I'd ever actually want to play it.

Not sure I've heard of a game that required you to keep an unbroken chain of saves to have them load properly?
That is bizarre

WHAT'S IT GONNA TAKE
TO FINALLY DEFEAT THAT DIABLO
just you watch, any second now
dat ratio
This is fine and good but also threads specifically about a specific game or movie always become hostile to negative opinions on that topic
So theres nothing wrong with letting fans of the game have that space and talking about it more openly in another space
Who the fuck are these people
But I'm usually just bored of MMOs in general
But actually sticking with it and investing time into it is the most bizarre thing in the world to me
