Getting back to actually trying this game online, now that I’ve found a janky method to actually make it kinda work.
Anyway, I’ve lately been trying out how well I can do with Mii Gunner (with cannon launch, charge blast, missile, and bomb. It’s basically like an alternate Samus), and it’s been fun. I’m also using my dumb Sans Sheriff costume, so that’s been amusing. I think I’m getting better at trying to predict enemy movement, and I like using the bomb to try and scare out ledge options.
Towards the end of my session today, I swear the game was trying to punish me for playing a zoner, lol. I ran into a Hero (who spent all his time fishing for Bounce), a smart Dedede, a Robin, a Wolf, and a Richter in fairly quick succession. It was like the world saying “oh, you like projectiles, do you?” I’m trying to learn to use the gunner’s physical moves more as well. He’s got some good ones.
Ended with a fun fight against a Captain Falcon. He got me with a 0-to-death combo off the side, but I actually managed to rally back and win. Kinda wish he’d stayed for another round; that was intense.
Honestly, I can't think of anything in particular that I'd want and is realistic.
Maybe a Felyne from Monster Hunter. Doing a plain Hunter would be boring and the monhun team are on record saying they don't really like how it came out last time they let someone do a hunter in a fighting games, but the cat seems perfect for Smash. But that is never happening.
Nintendo lets Sakurai go full fighting game and it's Sol Badguy, along with an announcement during the direct that Guilty Gear Strive is getting a Switch port.
(this will not happen but I've been getting pretty excited for Strive)
My money (all 0 of it) is on Crash Bandicoot, largely because I've been poisoned by a """leak""" with no solid backing that seemed to have only slightly more than the usual zero credibility.
Plus he just seems to complete the Japanese console mascot triad.
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.
Crash would be pretty easy to make into a character.
B: Spin. Tap repeatedly for Triple Spin or Death Tornado glide.
Side B: Slide. Can tap B again for a spin at the end, or jump out of it for combos.
Up B: Nitro Bouncer crate. Spawns a bouncy crate under him that turns into an explosive Nitro crate after 3 bounces.
Down B: Belly Flop.

If it’s anyone Valve, it’s Alyx - Mii Gunner and Mii Swordsman can have the HEV Suit (Mk V with gravity gun for gunner, Mk IV with crowbar for swordsman, obv).

I think Rillaboom would be kind of neat to include as Gen 8/grass Pokemon rep; it completes a trifecta of starters with Greninja (gen 6 water starter) and Incineroar (gen 7 fire starter).
Other than that, I have plenty of characters I'd like to see added to Smash bros, but none I really expect to see.

Palico as the full character could also be a fun option.
I believe it was 4U that made them fully playable, with a full moveset for hunting.
I want to say it was Generations. Either way, there's a lot of meat on the bone for a palico moveset, and they're a lot more consistent than trying to fit all the different weapon types in. Also, just straight up goofier and so better suited to Smash.

I do still think that the Ring Fit character would work really nice, and be pretty distinct from Wii Fit Trainer.
