Also the transition from young Indy getting the hat, lifting his head up, to old Indy smiling while the Raiders march plays triumphantly and then immediately getting punched in the face is like
Top 10 scene transition for me
The fact that it is in the same film as the "If we're lucky he's already got the grail by now" transition is an incredible underlining for how well crafted Last Crusade is
I hated that they made Brody into a moron. Never quite understood why they did it.

I was okay with it because the payoff joke was so damned good

I don't think he was an idiot, just not suited to the field at all.
also I'm hype as hell to see Last Crusade in the theater, it's gonna be dope
is Disney allowing it out of the Vault
I think I got to see it in 35mm like three months ago so I assume so? (It could have been hd video, I guess, now I'm questioning whether my eyesight is still as good as it once was contemplating that possibility)
It was a live rifftrax/mst3k thing with the dude who currently plays Servo, so maybe it was a fair use thing?

Feeling sick and wanted to watch a movie I could just shut my brain off for a couple hours. That movie was Bumblebee.
I guess it just goes to show how bad the Bay movies got that I look at Bee and say, “that was fine,” when really... it’s not very good, tbh.
I’m sure they’ll get it right sometime!

Gone Girl hit Netflix here and seeing as a Fincher psycho-thriller is usually very much my wheelhouse and I'd never had a chance to see it previously (my wife caught it without me, which always impacts on viewing choices) I sat down to watch it.
I really wish I'd had a chance to see it before circa 2014. I feel like a lot has changed since then and the movie doesn't work as well as it might have once done given the changes in the social context of the world.
Or maybe it always had a bit of cringe, but I certainly felt it might have been a better experience if I saw it when it first came out.
Joaquin Phoenix was interviewed about Joker and asked about the potential impact it could have on real-life individuals who find Joker sympathetic in the wake of America's unending waves of violence.
His response was to storm out of the interview, only to return once a WB PR rep took the question off the table.

One nice thing about Temple of Doom is I believe the prince calls Indy out on the grave robbing. It's glossed over, but at least brought up.
edit: Temple is Racist? Like I get it with the whole blood cult thing, but that was more religion than race? admittedly it's been a while since I've seen it.
fake edit: I'd argue that the worst portrayal was of white women though =p

I think it's more along the lines of "look at those crazy Indians! They eat monkey brains and eyeball soup! Other cultures sure are weird huh?".
He goes into places where brown people live, steals their shit, and takes it to a place where it can be put in a box for white people to look at and not even read the plaque

I am overall very much enjoying it, and Scratch fucking rules. I love that it feels like 90s action movies - paced like em, sounds like em, sets dressed like em. The villains do 90s-style style scenery chewing, and they're great.
I recognize that this is a scrappy indie doing their best, but I wish it looked like a 90s action movie. It's too... Crisp and digital. This is a movie about 90s punks - it's BEGGING for a bit of fuzz, a bit of feedback.
Again, I realize that making that look happen would likely cost more than they had. And I still like the movie a lot! I just want a time machine and a cashier's check for an extra hundred grand, I guess
i am kinda hoping they get to rectify it by hopping on the trend with a vhs release when they hit home video. i have already watched it twice this week and i kinda agree, but part of me thinks slapping any kinda filter on it would dilute the honesty, if that makes sense? the movie is very up front about what it's about, and though it's got tank girl ass tank girl editing and whatnot, it's pretty low-fi.
we are in that weird spot where punk diy just...is gonna look like this now. even shitty digital cameras got that profesh sheen, and it's more cost prohibitive to get that grain.

It got Benedict Cumberbatch to make me laugh, which ain't easy
And Lauren Lapkus fucking crushes
If you don't like Comedy Bang Bang and/or the sensibilities of Scott Aukerman, this won't change your mind. But I am quite enjoying it.
