Nothing language related on this forum surprises me much since a bunch of grown up humans lost their shit when some non Americans called something a chicken burger.
I call them elements, i.e. this stove has four electric heating elements
I sold large home appliances for a while after college
We were coached to not call them burners, because you don't want to associate this product you're trying to sell with burnt food
Was there a model that had a.... fifth element?
I felt the need to include a puzzle in a D&D game. Five empty bowls, one at each corner and one in the center.
They succeed a history check and identify symbols on the four corners as alchemical symbols for the elements, and they successfully trigger them
it took them 25 minutes to figure out the fifth bowl, and they were furious at me. They had to each blow a kiss into the center bowl, which filled with a pink fluid, a love potion.
I was like, "we watched the Fifth Element like, last week! all of us!"
Oh yeah, it's a solid movie. I was just kidding, but it's totally worth checking out.
It's also a really cool movie when it comes to CGI - there are two ships. But there's only one ship. It was a bit of a benchmark, for a brief moment, in "non-flashy" effects, and enhancing practical effects.

I'd have to think for awhile of my own but I'm not digging most of these choices.
I IMMEDIATELY got the song stuck in my head upon seeing this
hey that's my hometown
edit: last time I watched Master and Commander it was with my sister, who claimed she hadn't seen it since it was in the cinema. About 40 minutes in she turned to me and said "When does Johnny Depp turn up?"

Watching Into the Spiderverse for the 5th time and I've decided...
Master and Commander was the movie that made me really appreciate both Paul Bettany and also start appreciating how impactful having good supporting actors can be rather than people fighting for the spotlight.

My dad always tried to keep track of all the supporting cast and character actors because it can be surprising how often a person who's just really solid at playing a secondary part can improve a movie. Particularly because a lot of people cast as leads can be really dull.

there's a lot to love about that movie
there's also a lot that's not great!

He was really good in this. I always assumed he was a boring actor but I've watched three of his films lately and actually think he's pretty great.
Well, someone clearly missed the weevil joke scene in Master and Commander.
But, yeah, he should have done lighter material more.
I've never seen Master and Commander.

and you know what? if I'd produced that movie, I'd do the same thing
But the answer is fire, isn’t it?
It’s the fire part of the stove.
And I can never untangle them
