Pretty sure I’ve only seen the original nightmare and the second. And the weird one where Freddy invades the real world and Wes Craven is like yeah dude I summoned a dream demon
I saw them over the years and it was just a conversation one day. I don't know why but the nightmare movies came up and it was said they are really Christian pointing out why which when I saw dream warriors again it seemed entirely different
Behind The Mask is one of those films where it's genuinely baffling to me that it isn't universally agreed to be bad.
The premise is novel enough that no one notices the writing is awful. It would have been much better served without the film crew as actual characters and just nameless documentarians like in Parks and Rec.
I never saw Alpha but I first saw the trailer for it in front of whatever the Star Wars movie was coming out around then, and I turned to my friend just as the trailer ended and said IS THIS THE ORIGIN STORY OF DOGS? way too loud in the sudden silence
the only nightmare movie i outright dislike is the remake, to be honest
i even like freddy's dead!
though i really wish they coulda gone full-blown weirdo and dug in deep into the post-apocalyptic child-free springwood
you only get a glimpse of it and i wanted so much more
On my last rewatch I realized Freddy's Dead is actually really good for the short stretch of the kids returning to Springwood through Carlos' death. The stuff with Roseanne and Tom Arnold and the other adults works really well.
Never Sleep Again is wild mostly because of the bit where they interview the star of like, the fifth one, and there's just some lady on a leash next to her the whole time, staring off into the middle distance, and they never acknowledge that it's happening

That's the co-final girl from 6 who showed up to the interviews to promote her punk band (they cut all that stuff out).
Dear Zachary is a super devistating movie that overcomes some hella manipulative and bush-league editing.
There's a turn in the film that makes you super furious, and if it fails to do so don't worry they flash a bunch of red on screen overlayed with a man screaming.
I couldn't make it through Paulie and stopped watching talking animal movies outright because of it. I only watched Babe a month ago at age 33. There's a point in that film where the pig is staring straight down the barrel of a shotgun. So.
I have a little cry often at movies, but the last one that really fucked me up was Moonlight.
I was in my basement, no light at all save the TV, lying on the couch in my boxers with a way too small blanket. My stomach hurt from too much beer and potato chips. I sobbed uncontrollably for probably ten minutes after the movie ended. It’s my ultimate ugly cry. Just a chubby nearly naked dude covered in potato chips bawling like a fucking baby.
it is.... totally fine! just kind of, y'know, a decent action movie. kinda forgettable? i dunno, i was expecting it to be more outlandish with how much it was getting shit on
there's like one ten minute stretch of the movie, with the motorcycle chase and stuff, that I think is really good, and then the rest of the movie is like, y'know, fine
It's a show, but when the montage scene plays in the final episode of Good Place in season 3, it's a straight river on my cheeks, like that just flows unstoppable level.
This is Us also did it recently in season 1 when Kate sings, river.
The last time I cried in any capacity in a film was Dunkirk because of my bizarre fighter plane and naval battle fetish, but the last time I remember crying for a decent reason in a movie was Wall-E because of the we fucked the earth stuff.

what frame rate?
120
The scenes with lots of fast motion, like the motorcycle sequence, looked amazing
The lower key scenes looked awkward at first but I think I adjusted to it
The only time in recent years I was close to crying at a movie was probably Blade Runner 2049, because I am a whore for neobrutalist aesthetics, tales of sad robots and questions of humanity. There's a few scenes in that which absolutely get me

Weirdly the beginning of Up doesn't make me cry. I think it felt too much like You're Supposed To Cry Now.

No more talking animal movies.
Missed this post before. Babe is genuinely one of my favourite films. That little pig is so good and pure.

The remake is bad but also feels kinda close to being good so when it came out I spent a lot of time workshopping a better version.

Try me.
I mean, there was some implication in the original but they never came out and blatantly said it.

I have to see this one
it's actually a pretty good movie!
Yeah, I should probably pay the piper and give Heather some money.
I really dug the pied piper imagery they went with. Too bad they did nothing with it.

The phone can swear, y'all
I am such a nerd.

Which is how I'll seque into the news that Makoto Shinkai's Weathering with You is getting a US run starting in January!
this is still such a weird thing for you to have decided

Good movie!
I don't know if it'll stick with me for very long but it was a very fun time at the movies
