    So, what I'm gathering is that the OP has discovered the lovely world of Bloom. As mentioned, its used to mask poor graphics by blinding you to them. Literally.

    great comic

    i went back and checked the level in need for speed most wanted again

    its just in the beginning of bay city after challenge 9 ( i think) where any time you head W, Nw or SW
    you are blinded by the glade of the sun, yet just before a turn, a building, billboard, water tower, or random tree blocks out the sun just for a fraction of a second for you to see the gaint death trap infront of you

    im beginning to think its game designers pulling the wings off flies :(

    ty for introducing me to the concept of bloom though
