Uhh guys Snake Eater does not do HDR. It's a PS2. PS2s can't do HDR. That goes for SotC also. They just use bloom effects. I got the impression some (many) of you don't know the difference.
Good thing no one was talking about Snake Eater using HDR, then.
So, what I'm gathering is that the OP has discovered the lovely world of Bloom. As mentioned, its used to mask poor graphics by blinding you to them. Literally.
i went back and checked the level in need for speed most wanted again
its just in the beginning of bay city after challenge 9 ( i think) where any time you head W, Nw or SW
you are blinded by the glade of the sun, yet just before a turn, a building, billboard, water tower, or random tree blocks out the sun just for a fraction of a second for you to see the gaint death trap infront of you
im beginning to think its game designers pulling the wings off flies
ty for introducing me to the concept of bloom though
