PSA: Steven Universe may make starting your own alternative school fun and easy but actually it’ll be a gigantic quagmire that’ll grind everyone involved to dust. In my experience

I'm kinda not. Seems like an out of nowhere change for a character whose secret weapon is "if every porkchop were perfect, we wouldn't have hotdogs."

I guess it is meant to communicate that Steven is way different now and we didn't even notice, putting the audience in the place of the Gems.

To say nothing of the sentient and sapient vegetables Steven has met and created.

It's a good thing Steven seems to need to have intent for that to work, or he'd be giving life back to every plant as he eats it.

As a cow I'm biased but I think it fits with his character (Steven's radically compassionate attitude towards all living things) and also fits in with the season's overall theme that people change and aren't static

It does fit with the theme!

I can totally buy Steven just randomly becoming a vegetarian. He's a teenager trying to find himself so it seems perfectly natural.

Or was I the only teenager that was like this every year.

I love the new intro but find it a little tiny bit weird that they sing the title of the show ("Steven Universe Future"). In the original they just sing about the Crystal Gems, the team, not Steven Universe, the show!

My personal headcanon for Steven turning vegetarian is that he was eating a hotdog, and it started squirming on the way down.

At least with plants it seems to take a bit.

Anyone know how many episodes we're getting / when we're getting them.

Just finished SU Future e10 and I'm already getting withdrawal.

    Also,
when was the chest on Rose's island inside Lion opened? Did I somehow miss that?

Thank you for bringing to the forefront of my mind the existential terror that Steven grants sentience to everything he eats.

when was the chest on Rose's island inside Lion opened? Did I somehow miss that?

It happened during the timeskip. Nobody saw it. Nobody knows what's inside.
    That is the joke.

Anyone know how many episodes we're getting / when we're getting them?

To speculate on my own question: There are six (technically seven) "enemies" shown in the opening. Four of them have had episodes so far.
    E1: Jasper
    E5: Bluebird
    E8: Lapis Lazulis
    E10: Cactus

    Leaving white diamond and sandworm.

That implies 15 episodes if they have the same "density" as the first 10.

  • [Expletive deleted][Expletive deleted] The mediocre doctor NorwayRegistered User regular
I've loved all the new episodes except for "a very special episode" which was just bad.

I suspect the season will end with
Steven hanging Rose's portrait back up.

Very special episode is one of those episodes where something clicks in your brain and suddenly you realize “oh the creator watched Invader Zim as a kid”.

Kind of odd to put that out now when then last set of episodes isn't coming out for months.

They could be, but episodes 11 through 16 are all in March, according to wikipedia. For this stuff it's usually accurate. But then again, Cartoon Network scheduling might as well be as clear as mud.

    It's pretty intense.

I think it was @Incenjucar who was saying that Steven hasn't had any real character development on the show. SUF is almost 100% that.
