O.K. See there are these people, they are in charge of creating and operating an interesting role play enviornment for people to romp around in.
We call them ISD, and role play content developers.
Now. There are methods of creating branching storylines that deal with player created events. These methods are created by brain storming possible outcomes and then providing branching trees for where the story arc can progress. This is basicaly providing an after action report to steer the content to a fun and interesting place where the player can still control the outcome. These can then be tailored to match the event after it occurs. For istance you might have a "Admiral Charmandar gets attacked on the way to the rondevouz" option, among others. Then, if somone attacks him, you follow the "gets attacked" course of action and tailor it to the specific occurance.
Then, these people do those things, and those things having been done, make an engaging game that looks and feels like is real with players affecting it, while still resolving story arcs.
It takes a special kind of retard to not be able to do that especialy when they dont have to make anything up on the fly, since all reactions come after the fact.

3 years ago there were this Event watch chanel (not by that name tho), that was occupied by roleplayers of that time. Whenver there were even slightes hint of an event, that were the plase to find out.
Also the ISD crew culd be shot any and everwhere in space without concordocking.
So if the event were in hisec. We shot all the ISD "event crew", i remeber this anomaly research sience team that was supose to handle out somesort of bpo for someone who scanned accuratly some markked roids. Researchers endet up dead.
Then there were this complex event in lowsec, all (event crew and most participants) endet up dead.
After that, the ISD came in caracals and some other stuff trying to kill vice.

Seriously, this is a game where people spend days training up one skill to get 5% more efficiency out of something. The margin between winning and losing are extremely narrow by any account.
And you think that having developers and GM's on your proverbial batphone isn't a big deal? How many insights have you gained first due to this connection (shooting thru POS shields, etc.) and how many of your petitions have been cleared faster due to this, allowing your corp to focus on other things? Now only that, but due to the obviously incestuous relationship between you guys and CCP, how many things that have been borderline in terms of those petitions have been granted in your favor? Probably more than you care to admit, and probably more than we will ever know.
