Going only by what's been officially revealed, my team will definitely include Grookey, Rolycoly and Ponyta. Maybe Drednaw and Corviknight - I like them both just fine and I want both a Water and a Flying type on my team, but they're not must-haves. Either way, that leaves me with just one spot. Ideally I'd like a Fighting type on my team, but I'm open to anything. There's bound to be at least one awesome Pokemon that hasn't been revealed yet.
I mean people at the Steam PA chat were saying how they 100%'d Outer Worlds in 9 hours and i'm like 25 hours in and far from finishing because I like to wander around.

There's a lot more awesome ones that haven't been revealed. I'm kind of baffled just how little they've officially shown.

I love that they did it this way. Stumbling upon a new Pokemon for the first time in-game is a special feeling that doesn't exactly happen all that often. Sure, some people like to plan ahead, but at least for my first playthrough, I like to be surprised. (though I'm not sure if I would've gone with Crabrawler in my first playthrough of Sun if I knew what it evolved into, lol)

I'm always, always on the higher end of these average playtime things. Pretty much no matter what genre, I like to take my time, explore every nook and cranny etc. Recently, I believe most people were saying they beat Astral Chain in about 15 to 20 hours, whereas it took me 30.
But I also want Drednaw on my team. And having two water type pokemon seems like not the best plan. Maybe I should go Grooky just to get a better type spread.
My current theoretical team. Based on spoilers. Most of it official spoilers, but spoilers nonetheless.
I haven't actually analyzed my list to know if that's a good offensive/defensive balanced party or not. That list is mostly just based on what I think looks cool.
Based on the rumored difficulty curve (that is to say: dead easy), I wouldn't worry too much about party balance. You'll probably still be fine.

Crabrawler is the example I go back to for why I plan ahead, yeah. If you're interested, there's one mon with only one stage officially revealed that I feel is in that boat:
I love Rolycoly's design but both its evos feel incredibly clunky and boring.
I just know my first team will run a Galarian Ponyta/Rapidash, because my niece is in absolute love with the thing (really, you should see her unicorn plush collection). But I usually start my first run with the grass starter.
But as far as the whole cut pokedex? I think this is more like a CCG tournament thing- I imagine Home might have some sort of a battle service on it; for the "unlimited/anything goes" people, and then there's online battling in Sw/Sh as a "limited/Galarian" format. Because there's no way they'd be that stupid and completely gut the World Championships.
As far as:
Stealth Rock not being cut? Jesus, GF, you had a chance to get rid of the biggest pain in the ass in the whole move pool and you didn't take it? Having to deal with fucking entry hazards with Roar/Whirlwind is not how I want to spend my first online battles, dammit.
Ah. It's been a long, long time since I tried my hand at competitive battling (I think I played a few people from the Pokemon thread years and years and years ago and got my ass handed to me on more than a few dozen occasions), and I don't really pay that much attention to it. I don't have a reliable way to test IV/EVs on pokemon from previous gens, and I was always going with my favorites, anyways...
How bad was I? I ran a Charizard and a Vespiquen on the same team with no Rapid Spinner. Stealth Rock used to eat me alive.
My favorite thing about Stealth Rock is that your options for clearing it are either Rapid Spin, which as a Normal move can be invalidated by adding a Ghost type to your team (Gengar has been popular as a "spin blocker"), or Defog, which is generally given to Flying types (who're weak to Stealth Rock).

It does kind of throw their claims of balance out the window
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.
I'm not keen on deeply internalizing the available Pokemon list right now, so I can't back this up with hard facts, but I'd be interested to see how the available Pokemon set cross-references with Pokemon that have Stealth Rock in their learn-set by any means. It's only available from move tutors lately, which is a fairly easy knob to adjust. Stealth Rock is really, really powerful, but it's less meaningful when you're using a team slot on one of those classic Rock/Ground slugabeds that goes down to one Surf regardless of experience level.
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.

Stealth Rock was originally made to balance Spikes, which flying types were immune to, and Skarmory was one of the premier walls in the format! It was a wild over-correction that has lasted for 4 generations because *vague hand gestures*! It would have been incredibly easy to just make it a flat 12.5% damage with maybe rock types being immune to it! It doesn't really matter to GameFreak because nobody uses it in VGC but given the popularity of Incineroar and Landorus maybe they people should!
I just want the game to come out so the internet will get bored and wander off to be outraged and upset over some other nonsense game cause the negativity coming form almost every community i'm a part of is eroding my patience and sympathy.
The one saving grace about stealth rock is that its not as prevalent in Doubles which is way better than singles.
But really SR is so damn annoying because it's so much stronger than the other entry hazards. It takes several turns to setup spikes to the point where it really hurts, and you need multiple turns if you want toxic spikes to put out the heavy poison effect. Meanwhile SR is setup in one turn, does great damage on its own, and benefits from type effectiveness to absolutely obliterate anything weak to it. Imagine if leech seed could be x4 effective against opponents with a weakness? I guess on the flipside resistant mons aren't hurt as much, but rock is a pretty good offensive typing so it hits more than it misses. For its potency, it really has no business staying up perpetually and should expire on its own like weather or barrier effects. What's even more ridiculous IMO is how Smogon absolutely loves it as some kind of sancrosanct unquestionable constant of the game, where any other move that sees such widespread use on singles teams would be suspect for banning. What is the presence rate of SR or a spinner/defogger to specifically deal with rocks? Damn near 100% presence? I really wish that it of all moves would have gotten the axe. I would have loved to see the look on Smogon's face.

This was a long time coming. I hope the bad buzz and rumors of an unhappy dev team mean they'll change how the games are made going forward but I doubt it

Going to point out that i agree with a lot of the things being pointed out and really want things to be changed.
It's more in reference to me being very tired of people who are excited and just want to enjoy the game being shitpiled. Direct the anger at gamefreak. Leave the people who just want to play the game alone.

While there are concrete examples of particular people being jerks toward others who just want to play the game, you probably won't find any of those here, and honestly probably not in many communities. It is really easy to conflate the two. Really, really easy to perceive widespread negativity as somehow not allowing you to enjoy yourself, when no one is even really talking to you (the royal you).
And then when a particular fan gets disgusted after seeing all the negativity everywhere and it boils over into "sweet jesus everyone just leave the game alone and let people enjoy it" you might see pushback against that person...so is that anger directed unfairly at a fan? Or does that person need to learn that the anger wasn't directed at them to begin with, just a game that they love?
Some of my favorites were cut, but I'm on it to play with the new babies.
I loved how Cutiefly was so surprising last time, or how amazing Primarina was.
A friend of mine was saying he was watching someone play it on Twitch last night. I'm sure that player probably has received a Cease and Desist from Nintendo, but it sounds as if the stream was going for quite some time.
Hmm, I hope the full team xp share and always having access to the box means that even though it's a shorter (barebones?) game I'll actually use more pokemon as part of my "core team" throughout the story. I know back in the day the last time I played pokemon it was all "man that's a cool new pokemon but I already have that element covered right now so maybe afterwards... but then it sat in a box forgotten" the game.

One thing I love about each new generation is that there are always one or two Pokemon that are just so good that they pretty much instantly become a part of what I'd call the core of the franchise.
Like from Sun/Moon, Stufful/Bewear. It already feels like that Pokemon has been in the series forever, and it's really just one generation old.
I'm looking forward to seeing what, if any, new Pokes become that much of a mainstay in the brand as a whole.
I tend to make a barnyard themed team. I'll have to see if that's still viable with the cuts they've made.
I don't know if Arceus has been cut or not, but I'm sure there's no rule against putting God in a barn.
Traditionally it's been Mareep, Spoink, Miltank, Gogoat, Tauros and then a horse (most recently Mudsdale). I know a lot didn't make the cut this time but I'm still sure it's doable. I think it will require a trade though, my son is getting the version with Ponyta.

I can has cheezburger, yes?
They don't allow all pokemon until the second set of games are released to fill out the national dex
So it will be business as usual with the first season of SwSh World Chamionship
