the adventures can be fun, but it really sucks when your whole team has really weak pokemon, and your team is dumb and chooses paths that will take a long time and take a lot of damage. i wish there was a way to guide what you were looking for a little more just due to the volume of legendaries, but it's mostly fine. but damn some of them are extremely hard to get. ive probably tried 20 times to get zygarde and it just isnt happening. The closest i came was when i got a hold of a jynx and could take out 1/3 of its health in one go. but then i ate 2 max quakes and got 1 shot both times without firing off another shot.
Kyogre and Zygarde were definitely the toughest that I've run into so far. Both of them took a good few tries. In Kyogre's case, it was mostly thanks to a Kingler that was spamming Wide Guard that I was able to get through it.
I had a team mate kingler spamming wide guard on zygarde. It was annoying because I had caught a gmax grimsnarl and had to give it up for the zygarde, I knew I wouldnt be so lucky the next time.
Also people who disconnect on the Legend because its not what they want are terrible.
Filling up some holes in my Dex and picking up some annoying ones to catch for my niece’s dex, and it looks like we’re going to be coming in at 398/400 on our main dex in the end. Of course, it’s the trade evos we’re stuck on- Slurpuff and Aromatisse. Anybody have these and wouldn’t mind loaning them out for a few minutes over Home?

you could just take the grimsnarl and save the Zygarde location for a subsequent try

Sorry I should have been more clear. My point was that Zygardes are hard to beat and not taking the easy win Zygarde would have been foolish.
Immediately after that capture I ran into another Zygarde that seemed easy enough until it completed itself and destroyed us.
Ya that's always the problem. Get it to half health and then it heals and starts doing 2x land decimator a round and just stacks up those kills on weak pokemon.
397 of 400 caught. Just need to finish Cursola, Sirfetch’d, and hope some wonderful soul out there has a Slurpuff and that’s my Galar dex all done.
Also, thank Arceus I had all those XP candies saved up; there are an utter shitload of end-game Dragon lines in this gen and I burned through my entire stash to get them all.
EDIT: 399/400. Just need the Slurpuff and I’m all done.
EDIT 2: Galar Dex finished! Coming into Isle of Armor now with 102/211 - or rather, 102/210 because there’s no way to get a Zarude quite yet stateside. Doesn’t look like an extremely hard area to catch them all, but the Larvesta line will be a pain to level, and you have to get Kubfu to 70, too...but I can always grind raids for candies.

You can just straight-up catch a Volcanroa. It shows up near the water tower IIRC but that was a while ago.

Really? I was going to port in as much of the dex as I can, but Volcarona was always one of the pains I never got around to raising.
This gen's Wild zones offer up some absolute nonsense. I don't think I actually evolved any of the Eeveelutions I own in Shield.
Also between the wild mons being lv60+ and literal piles of XP candy overflowing my backpack, filling out the 'dex is often just a matter of bothering to do so.

It's a lot, but it's a small price to pay if you've bred a perfect shiny (with the square sparkles, even!) that ended up not having the Hidden Ability. Not that I've had that EXACT THING happen.
I've got 500 dynite ore now. If you're gonna catch all 47 legendaries you're gonna end up with a lot. Especially if you want to shiny hunt some of them
...forty-seven legendaries? Oh, the meta has to be screaming right now.
On the other hand, more for me and my niece to go catch! We've even already planned which of us gets what horse (she gets the ice one because it looks like a unicorn and she loves unicorns) and who gets what new Regi (she gets dragon, I get electric).
Ya I'm at like 150 ore but have only caught maybe 10 of them. Lots of time has been spent on zygarde attempts though. Weirdly I've also ran into lugia and suicune multiple times.
i was having trouble getting back into the game since the dlcs came out and it just felt weird like should i take my lvl 100 fully trained monsters through these zones of people thinking i'm some novice there to train?
so anyway, i had a friend choose my team to go through the isle of armor for me and it's cool because i don't think i'd have used any of their choices and they're not mega murder mons
Also people who disconnect on the Legend because its not what they want are terrible.
So much this. Keep in mind: not everyone out there is after something because of the meta or because it's strong in PvP- there are legit people like my niece out there who want to catch everything simply because they want to catch them all! It's no skin off your nose to play through to the end because it's not the legendary you want, especially if it's a Johto beast (and never mind the fact that if they were free-roaming like they were in Gen 2 you'd be throwing your hands up in the air and whining about how Nintendo made it too hard to catch them).
Just... have a little empathy for everyone else. Besides, once you catch that legendary, you’ll take it out of the mix and be closer to the one you want!

Wide Guard and status are heroic for some raids
I always try to snag the moms with support skills so the AI only has attacks cause it’s dumb
Most of the people online are nearly as bad as the AI, too
So I just got the game. I need to catch sheildy magoo then I can do the battle tower/dlc. Is crown tundra better to do first or would the island be better if I have to restart my pokemon collection from scratch and want team options?
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.
Well crown tundra is a bunch of easy legendaries. If you want to breeze through stuff that's probably the way to go. I completed the battle tower with the rain rental team for doubles and the team with all the starters and the axe dragon for singles so you don't even really need to get your own together.

Yeah. The rental teams are pretty good. Like, they actually give you a life orb Cinderace iirc? And it breaks things in half just like you'd expect.
Dynamax Adventures have had me willingly engaging with the game's combat more than I have in a long time, but I kinda wish there were more than one battle theme for the normal encounters. That one Dynamax raid track starts to wear on you pretty quick.
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.

I had more fun collecting mons and clearing dens on the Isle- I’m not a fan of the Crown map and I wasn’t really all that excited about the non-legend mons they brought back
I also haven’t really put much work into the story and mostly just do dmax adventures constantly to fill out my “smogon dex” (a competitive version of every mon) and save legends only if they’re shiny or have the desired nature
Is shiny hunting the legends a thing one can do in these?
Yeah. The legend won't appear as shiny when you fight it, but in the results screen where you can pick what Pokemon to keep you can see if it's shiny or not.
who gets what new Regi (she gets dragon, I get electric).
Heads-up: I just learned today that Regigigas also made the DLC but you need to have all 5 Regis in your party to access it. (It's not in the Crown dex.)
Fortunately, it's a no-shield one-on-one dynamax battle. Dunno if guaranteed catch but certainly easier than it was in the past.

Yes, in Dynamax Adventure lairs all the legends can be shiny
Though if @initiatefailure is wondering about the new legends, the Galarian forms of the birds and Calyrex and the steeds can't be shiny
Cosmog, Keldeo and Poipole are also locked
The Regis and the swords of justice, though, can be shiny hunted
Chances for shinies in Dynaventure are super high, like, 1/100 if you have the charm, 1/300 without it. But you have to do the entire adventure then check at the end. You can "save" the destination and try again from the start. I'd guess 1/100 is so much better than regular chances that even taking longer than a reset-reload it's still gonna be a lot faster.
It takes like 15 min to do a full lair. If you compare to soft resetting for legendaries, I think you can do probably like 20 resets in 15 min. If that's the case, then the 1:100 is equivalent to like 1:2000.
That's worse odds than soft resetting with shiny charm, which is like 1:1365
I haven't actually timed and compared, so if anyone has more accurate times feel free to correct me :P
You do have the bonus that the other 3 pokemon can be shiny too, though, and max lairs are pretty fun. So shiny hunting in max lairs is great, but I think people should know it's probably not more efficient than previous gens if you're going for a specific legendary
You can also cut that time down a little bit by cheesing it and searching for a party online, then once you're in the battle with one you don't care about you can turn on airplane mode and it will autocomplete the battle, it won't count as a catch so you don't get to keep it at the end but it will let you choose to switch your Pokemon out if you want to use the one you skipped. I think you can only skip 1 per adventure that way, but it can cut out a tricky encounter.
All of a sudden my Stamp name on Shield has turned Red.
Is it always red? Or did i do something to trigger some sort of "Hey this person is sketchy" System? I have not been forfeiting or disconnecting in any raid dens or anything (But i have accidently force quit connection because i keep forgetting it disconnects you if you go to home menu)
Or is it completely normal and i'm just being paranoid.
Also i keep getting shiny pokemon in surprise trade that have website urls as nicknames and it's starting to annoy me a lot.

Ive had it since July and just now found out I didn't need a 3DS to retrieve my bank data. The picture is very misleading!
