Sports sites have been largely moving towards a model where there's one central, national hub site, which directs to a ton of subsidiaries for local sports coverage. SBNation and Bleacher Report both do use this model, and I know SBNation has taken a decent amount of heat for how those subsidiaries are run, whether it be because they largely don't pay the people who run those sites or write for them very well, or because they don't always pay attention to who is running them, so some bad shit often sneaks through. Bleacher Report has a...worse reputation. There's also the Athletic, which has a subscription model, and has poached a ton of local beat reporters and national reporters to work for them. ESPN also has region specific coverage, but I believe it's only for big markets like Chicago and LA.
This is relevant because it looks like that's what Maven is trying to do with Sports Illustrated. The difference between all those other sites and what Maven is doing, is that, to my knowledge, none of those sites went to those models by buying a company and then laying off half of its staff. Also they didn't hop in with a bunch of shitty buzzwords and instantly try to brand everything with their dumb name?
And I...just did some preliminary clicking around on their stuff, and...the Maven core site that they link to in that tweet is kind of shit, but I assumed it was just...mostly an investor portal? But I clicked on their "Ohio State Maven" page, pretty much at random, and it's the same basic thing? And there's zero sign that anyone's engaging with any of the content they're putting out, like...there's nothing in any comments sections, their tweets have like, three likes a piece, the "community" sections maybe have like three pieces spread out over a year and a half...it's no good, and I can't imagine they're going to have a ton of success doing worse versions of what other sites are already doing. And they laid off a huge chunk of people because they think this will work. It's shit all around.

But Yukio Mishima is a critically acclaimed and internationally loved author and was considered for the nobel prize in literature three times, and is also recognized as a trailblazing queer writer.
He also had terrible politics, which everyone knows.
But like just quoting some bits from wikipedia as proof that Mishima = fascism is just kind of embarrassingly ignorant. If more of pewdiepie's vulnerable young readers read "Confessions of a Mask" then... good?
