I got pretty lucky (me? getting lucky? weird) but yeah, it's risky. I still have 21k Lapis so I should be able to get back up to at least a full step-up lap before the Easter/unit design banners. Besides, those won't be limited time banners, so UoCs can save disappointing pulls.
You also have SS Charlotte which helps make this next banner easier to skip. From everything I read Cecil is only a minor upgrade on her.

So when I saw that Paladin Cecil was up next and realized I didn't have to care about this banner, I took a shot at the CNY step up. I got Xuan on the first step... and three more on the third. I also got an Emperor Foo from a half off daily. So... that's cool.

Yeah, I'm tempted, having 32K lapis and I think I should still have some decent amount of Lapis to go, since in the plot I'm in the stretch where
Rain has gone full bootlicker, and decided that since doing a war would kill thousands of people and therefore would be bad (fair enough), it's better to support a regime that kills thousands of people but, like, in a regimented way (wait, what), but the narrative is not treating this as being incredibly stupid somehow
.
But then I think to myself, what would actually be a success scenario here? Like, what is a DPS that is in the pool and is a significant enough upgrade from Esther and has as easy chaining as she does and is cool enough that I'm willing to put them in Esther's place? Because other than Elena I'm kind of drawing a blank here. Like, sure, the chairmen are supposed to be good, but Rain is apparently an absolute idiot and I'm not pleased at the whole Mandated Blood Kings thing.
(Heck, I already have Physalis and barely use her because her chaining is AMoE, and I have like two people in my entire friend list with AMoE chains, while I can get a dozen bolting strike partners by kicking over a rock)
I threw 10 tickets at the Cecil banner and struck out.
I used my remaining EX and 5+1 tickets now that the old CNY units are out of the pool. Ended up with Willy #3, Circe #3, WoL Lenna #3, Rem #5, Aloha Lasswell #4, Morgana #4, and I can't remember the last one so it must have been worthless. More STMRs for IW! First Nirvana should give CG Legs a little boost in power with 25% more MTDW.
Honestly, at this point, I don't think Madam Edel will be worth chasing. She's going to be strong, but looking over her rotation, it takes an eternity to ramp up her damage. I prefer shorter term burst. I have A.Rain and XWQL that do that very well. She's going to be a big skip for me. I'm hoarding for the fan design units.
I don't really need either of the banner units since I have 7* Charlotte and 7* Lilith, but I used some tickets on the banner anyway because FF IV. 10% 5* ticket was a blue, as is tradition, but I did get a summon shatter up to rainbow on my fourth 3* ticket for a Paladin Cecil. My fifth ticket also turned out to be a rainbow, but was Ignaccio #3. So close!
Tel-Fulsanis down. Not super hard, but then again I have a pretty stacked team. I need to do it again because I just forgot to summon Carbuncle, but now that I have the strategy down it won't be hard to redo.
Team was-
Charlotte: Tons of resists, high SPR, rotate cover/magic mitigation
Qin: MVP, did everything. Was absolutely needed in the last stage for breaks/elemental resists.
Kryla: 100% evade/passive provoke. Sealed elements in the last stage.
Doc Aiden: Heals, buffs, status resists for the last stage.
Levinsonx2: Chaining. Has fire element for the first round and wind for the second which speeds things up tremendously. Also has a good ATK/MAG break on an unlockable skill, which was super great for the last boss.
First boss is easy enough, neutral to fire damage and doesn't hit very hard. He will sap your MP when he dies, so be wary
Second boss is similarly easy to burst down. Has an HP lock at 79% and then again at 5%. You want to burst from 79% down to 5% as quickly as possible to avoid the annoying MP drains. When you get him down to 5%, you then have to use a LB once a round for 5 rounds. When you do this you'll get a message saying that you've dispelled the dread. Now you can kill him. If you don't dispel the dread then he'll disease you. There is NO WAY to prevent this disease except for the LB method.
Last boss is a juggling act but not bad. You have to deal the correct elements on the wisps every round. You have to re-break the wisps ATK/MAG every round. High general/MAG mitigations are necessary, and physical mitigation/mirage helps with some small AoE physical damage. You also have to make sure you have innate status immunity and a status immunity buff up at all times.
I found it to be a very fun and decently challenging fight. I failed a couple times before figuring out that the wisps needed to be ATK/MAG broken every round.
Gumi got me. 2nd 4* ticket came down CG Cecil. 3 more 4* and 30 3* tickets got me nadda. Step up knocked me down to 17k but got Nagi #3 on step 3 and luckily got CG Cecil on the last step.
A bit more than i wanted to spend but for now i should be ok till the user designed units come out.

(Don't mind me, I just want to enjoy this before Elephim burns it all down.). I also need to get Kryla set up for the evade and provoke life.
Alright, went back and got the last Tel-Fulsanis mission. Something almost went SUPER wrong the first round against the third boss and Charlotte and both Levinsons died. It took a couple rounds to stabilize after that, but then things were smooth sailing.
Now I have my emblem set to the cool white one. Weeee~
Oh, a tip for Tel-Fulsanis. If you're using Qin, DC his Mana regen latent on the turn you get the first boss down to 1%. Due to the way it works, it'll proc again twice after the boss drains your Mana and then dies. If you thought ahead, you could also DC it the round before and all four casts will go off after the boss dies, starting you in the next boss with at least 240 MP on everyone.
I cleared 2* Bahamut last night. It was a lot more touch and go than I was hoping, and I'll need to redo it later for the clear with no KOs mission. It really underscored my need for a better support unit (I was using Zarg), so I'm hoping for more details on those upcoming fan design/Easter units and/or enhancements for Elephim.

Zarg would be so much more usable if he just had a general dualcast for his buffs. If they ever decide to give latents to old units, that and some typed mitigations would go a long way to making Zarg a great buffer again.

I have 20K lapis, and I know I've left enough on the table to clean up a lap, so I'm starting my pulls.
1: HK Lass #2. Well, okay.
2: Nothing whatsoever.

45 tickets + 2x 10% tickets + 1x 30% ticket = 3 rainbows, all of them off-banner. CG Lightning, Nagi, and Dressy Aileen.
The gambling aspect of this game isn't fun. It should be the most fun part, right? Not even from a game-developer's perspective. From the purely profit-driven perspective of a casino manager or a racetrack bookie.

10k summon mission done! 500 lapis get! I can easily get 500 more from 300k Colosseum points. 10k colloseum matches is just stupid. That'll never happen! It's taken me 3.5 years to get 2.6k matches done...
So, FFIV is my favorite FF game, it was the first rpg I played.
Hell, I poped when I got 3 star cecil as soon as I started playing, so of course I was going to pull for him.. Only I was expecting one of those banners on which you spend 9000 lapis for a 11 pull with increased rates, so I decided to chase Cecil only with tickets. I don't really NEED him (have a good amount of supports and CG Charlotte), I WANT him.
So I started using five 5* ex tickets and got:
Mercenary Ramza #3
Balthier #2
Ignis #3
WoD Galuf #1
N. Hope #1
Then I used 110 summon tickets (between regular and 4 star)! And pulled:

Palom and Porom #1 (wrong 5 star!)

CG Cid #2 (his spear fooled me for a sec)

The more I poke around this plotline honestly the more I'm kind of happy I never was very invested in Rain, because damn, if this arc was fanfiction it'd be getting downvoted for character assassination.
I decided to go for P.Cecil. More tickets got me P&P. Went for the step-up hoping to score P.Cecil in the first couple of steps. I ended up finishing the lap with Folka #5, DK Leon #1, and P.Cecil x2! I actually needed a magic tank upgrade since I never actually got 7* SSC and WKN is starting to fall behind.
Also, since I got Yuraisha 2 and her STMR moogle on the support banner, I'm considering spending an UoC on her prism to make sure I get the hairpin. It looks like it'd go real good on Charlotte.
I decided to go for P.Cecil. More tickets got me P&P. Went for the step-up hoping to score P.Cecil in the first couple of steps. I ended up finishing the lap with Folka #5, DK Leon #1, and P.Cecil x2! I actually needed a magic tank upgrade since I never actually got 7* SSC and WKN is starting to fall behind.
Yeah my support units are falling a bit behind and WKN is still good but I can only get him up to 24K HP / 1200 or so SPR. P. Cecil is at 22K HP and over 2000 SPR. Also I forgot since he's a CG unit, his LB is auto-full. Great for round 1 50% gDM. Still trying to figure out a good rotation. Technically most attackers now have better buffs than supports can dish out, so maybe not even going into the "dark" stuff is needed out side of MP refresh as needed.
Equipping P. Cecil does show how insane Xuan is. P. Cecil can only get around 2K SPR with Xuan getting 2.5K easily. Combined with 12-14k HP pretty easily, for enemies that aren't resistant to magic damage and/or enemies that dish out magic damage, they are one heck of a tanky unit.

Zarg is kind of crazy in that he's still pretty usable even right now. I agree, a latent that gave him permanent dual cast and boosted his LB to 200% buffs or extended the duration to 3 turns, combined with some 30% typed DM would be great. He's still quite tanky. Would be nice to boost his 'Quickening' to triple cast as well.
Ace is another unit like that. His MP refresh is just so consistently good (and fast animation) and he has a chance at some still good effects like 40% DM and 22x magic damage. He's squishy as heck though which sucks and since JP just got a CG Ace I think, I'm guessing we won't be seeing anything to good for him in the future.

Huh, interesting.. didn't notice Cecil had 50% general mitigation on LB. Emperor Foo can throw up AoE magic cover on another unit with a cooldown. So you could get it going round 1 and still have an AoE magic tank.... someone hold my tickets, they may no longer be safe.

I kind of like the idea of him as a support unit on a beefy SPR team. Galuf, Kryla, himself, any healer, and Xuan. Cover all physical/ST attacks with Galuf and have the team just eat magic attacks with his all the damage mitigation and high SPR.
Apparently there was a cancelled live event thing in Taiwan but the announcements made it online. We may be getting Valentine's Day units, specifically Valentine's Ignacio&Sieghard and Valentine's Sakura&Ayaka!
If this is real then goodbye Lapis, I need Ignacio&Sieghard.
haha well now we know why GUMI moved up the P.Cecil banner. Color me intrigued. The last combo units we got were hit and miss (FID being awesome and Folka/Citra being less so). Combo healer/magic DPS and Tank/physical DPS could be really slot efficient. Might come down to who is designing the units, ALIM or GUMI?
They're GLEX so likely Gumi, so chances are they'll be great. My best mage currently is Tsukiko, so if Sakura&Ayaka can be built as a good mage then I wouldn't be mad getting them either. If Ignacio&Sieghard is an upgrade over eSieg then I am 100% pulling. King Behemy can wait!

I think of the characters, Sieghard is the only one i like storywise. He's just really competent at his job and just wants everyone to be beautiful!
Some are getting growth but the abuse they write in is just not making me like the storyline they are writing. Maybe season 3 they do something different

I kind of like the idea of him as a support unit on a beefy SPR team. Galuf, Kryla, himself, any healer, and Xuan. Cover all physical/ST attacks with Galuf and have the team just eat magic attacks with his all the damage mitigation and high SPR.
If this is real then goodbye Lapis, I need Ignacio&Sieghard.
I think of the characters, Sieghard is the only one i like storywise. He's just really competent at his job and just wants everyone to be beautiful!
Some are getting growth but the abuse they write in is just not making me like the storyline they are writing. Maybe season 3 they do something different
