I figured I'd run the first step of the Godrea/Karten banner to get the last ticket needed for 20% GK 5* summon. I figured that it was worth a shot, and I would at least get a 5* out of it, and, if I was lucky, I could pick up my second Karten or a third and fourth Godrea if I was insanely lucky.
Step up summon did have one 5*...Delita #1.
The 20% GK 5* summon was Jiraya #2.
The moral of this story is to never hope :rotate:
In all seriousness, at least 7* Jiraya has some niche utility for some fights, so that's not horrible.
Pushed through the story to scrounge up the next step on the Halloween banner. I desperately wanted another Karten....
3g 6b 1r
Citra #3
At this point I've uninstalled the game. I'm so sick of everything about it. I can't do it anymore.
I'm pretty much in the same spot. Yesterday I UoC'd Mal for her STMR and used one of my blank moogle containers on Hermes Sandels. So I should have as close to a BIS Cid as I can. I setup Randi, Esther, Circe, and full evade/passive provoke DW Galuf as friend units.
At this point I'll leave the game installed since I will probably want to get through the rest of the story, just need a long doctors trip or something to do that. Haven't decided if I'll log in for the daily stuff or not. Probably will for a week or 2 before I just lose all interest.

I used Jiraiya for one of my Demon Lantern CoV ELT clears. He just did Six Protections+2 every round since I did not have an AOE tank for that team. Worked out perfectly.
Youtube just dropped a Producer's Letter on Select Ticket Changes.
No summonfest; CG Rain and the future units will all go into the normal summoning pool.
Starting from CG Spoiler Rain, UoCs will just be able to buy prisms instead of the unit. Prisms are 8 UoC's instead of 10.
Prisms will be available to UoC at the same time as the banner drops; no more waiting 2 weeks.
Rainbow rate increasing to 5%; that's for everything; tickets, EX pool, etc.. On-banner rate will be 1.5%.
Old rainbows are being pulled from the rare tickets/step-up summons. No mention yet of what is an "old rainbow" but they'll basically be relegated to only EX tickets or UoC tickets.
Periodically making available the option to sell UoC tickets for lapis. 2000 for the first ticket and 1500 for each ticket thereafter.
When the CG Rain banner, they'll be doing a 5000 lapis total login bonus and a weekly free 10+1 to help show off the new rates.
Premium 10+1 was SS Charlotte #1. Probably worth UoCing a second?
My current thanks are Merc Ramza, Awakened Rain and WK Noel.
WKNoel is a really good magic tank. He's up there with SSCharlotte, honestly. She does have some better team support with things like good magic mitigation, general mitigation, and emergency heals/MP refresh.
Went back and did the 25 unit clears on the two lower difficulties of the Lantern. 5* EX ticket from that got me Prompto#4. I would be more impressed with that STMR if I didn't already have the Icebird trial gun. Also did my first clear of the hardest difficulty of the lantern. Circe worked wonders there, and so long as you have a decent tank (or a 100% evade tank) and 100% fire resist on everyone after buffs it's easy enough. You just have to make sure you kill the adds every turn once he starts summoning a full field of them.
I wonder if holiday/limited units will also have prisms in the UoC shop? I don't see why they shouldn't. I guess we will find out with the Christmas units.
With prisms being cheaper, I'll be tempted to UoC Malphasie's prism to grab her STMR.

File all this under 'excellent changes, really would've liked this a year ago'. Still it's great that they're taking a cue from player feedback now and backing off of what started the death of JP, though it does make me wonder if they'll go forward with JP's current 'no more step-ups, one free prism' banner plan.

I think the one free prism, no step-up thing was specifically a 4th anniversary/esper unit thing. If so, then it'll probably be similar when we get it.
Speaking of Espers, do you guys think we'll get a GLEX Esper? I know they've said that we won't in the past, but they also said that a GLEX CG unit was impossible, and we all know how that turned out.

I'd love a GLEX esper. Knights of the Round por favor.
@maraji Unfortunately I don't think there is much out there. The mobile market just doesn't seem to want to support a $15+ full game. I have Final Fantasy Tactics, FF9, FF4, and Civ 6 on my iPad. Most of the other games I have are adapted board games like 7 wonders, Eclipse, etc.
I've wanted to try Another Eden. It's by Masato Kato and has reviewers mention a strong Chrono Trigger vibe. Also it's suppose to be a mobile JRPG with some micro transactions rather than a gacha game. We'll see, it's on my list to try.
The only gacha game I'm playing now is Epic 7. Mostly because the gacha elements are pretty generous right now and unless you want to go hard into PvP, you don't need much. Also the art is straight out of a high end anime. If you're into that, it's a gorgeous game. It's pretty grindy, but then they have an auto feature so you don't even have to pay much attention and again, unless you're into PvP, you grinding is way less.
Also interested in SINoALICE if it ever gets localized. No idea how gacha-y it is, but with Yoko Taro directing, I'll give it a shot.
Another Eden is pretty good. I played a bit of it before falling off due to limited gaming time. It has some gacha elements, but the gacha characters are pretty much 100% unnecessary to progress in the story (though they do make it a bit easier). Maybe that's changed since I stopped playing.
There are a lot of smaller indie games on mobile that are good, but not so much in the way of RPGs as far as I can tell.

It's a nice start, though Prism's should only be 5 UoC's. Again, with the 7* system, we need 2 unit instead of 1 and new units come out weekly. 8 tickets is still 4 months for 1 prism.
Removing old units is huge, but we'll see how they slice it. The fact is there are a ton of crappy units even within the last year. Honestly they just need to remove the off banner rainbows to really fix anything. There's still a large chance of an off banner unit whether it's Delita or Yego; neither is great to see.
Sadly due to terrible balancing they had to remove things like status ailments being a valuable ability to use on trials or bosses. I remember Sheraton was maybe the last one where I planned around using a character that had blind. Even in the arena their use is limited as there are so many ways to get full status immunity and they are banned often.
It's too bad they couldn't build a system where bosses weren't immune but only were effected for 1 turn, then had immunity for 3-5 turns or something. It would at least make using them for thresholds and such viable, or even post thresholds to put them to sleep for 1 turn while you healed up.
Yego sprite is so good, it's just too bad.

I remember when White Dragon was the hardest boss and the strategy to beat him was to poison him and put him to sleep. Those were the days.

It's a gacha, but Last Cloudia just came out and it is excellent. Mostly no energy system and the amount of character customization is crazy.
The changes to the summoning system really puts more value on 10+1 and 5+1 tickets. EX tickets are still a crap shoot, but at least 5% rainbows will help. I have a lot of 3's of older units that have nice STMRs (Gilgamesh, Aileen, Elfreeda, and Nyx). I wonder if 4* tickets are going to be 7% chance?
I don't plan to pull for Chair Rain right away. I'd like to see if the CG Terra banner is next week since I really need a strong magic dps for my team. With the new summon system, you can't just UoC 2 units for 7* anymore.
Almost like 100% chance CG Terra is next week. All the news (UoC ticket, 5* special summon ticket) points to next week being a Mog King. Since we already did Firion, the next Mog King is CG WoL and it'd be weird even for Gumi to do the FFVI Kefka banner into an FF1 mog king.
I guess we'll find out which units are being removed from the summon pool when the datamine hits. It's both a good and bad change, though I'd guess it's net good. Less overall 5* in the pool means less likely to pull something extraordinarily bad, like Delita. At the same time, there's less chances to random into that TMR or STMR. And while a lot of older 5* unit are pretty garbage, some have pretty good TMRs and STMRs. If they don't do it immediately, I do hope they implement a UoC discount for some older 5* units.
Pretty happy IW is coming back, I have a few new TMR/STMR weapons to run. Priority is Claws of Darkness for Karten, and then Akstar's STMR and then probably try to get some rares on rods. I don't have a ton of good rods, and I still haven't gotten the rare on Stardust Rod.
If I have a ridiculously good IW, maybe I'll get to Prompto's STMR.
Just to reiterate here in case anyone was thinking of doing this. DO NOT EXCHANGE UOCs FOR LAPIS!!
Per month we get:
2x UoC
10k-15k lapis
2-3 5* EX or Special Summons
1 UoC for 1.5k or 2k is a bad value. Just don't do it.
idk, depends on what you want. This first event give 2K per ticket and I have 34 of them. If 4 tickets gets me 8K which would allow for a step up for Chain man, it may be worth it even if they are not equal value.
In very specific cases, it may be worth it if you're 2k-3k away from the final step. For me, the banners run for 2 weeks, which should be enough time to get some lapis to finish a lap. I would not burn multiple UoC to get enough lapis for a 1.5% chance at a unit on the early steps. That's not a safe bet, but that's just me I guess.
Trading UoCs for Lapis is also a decent choice for people who had been saving 20-40 UoCs to grab a 7*/STMR or a unit without having to engage in the gacha mechanics. Those UoCs were essentially already pre-spent for them, and could go a ways towards the lapis needed for a step-up. It'll be shitty for those who want to get a specific 7* out of a split banner, though.
Debating whether trading some of my 40,000 trust coins is worth it for buying those UoC tickets and then turning them into lapis... The lizard part of my brain says that makes sense, trading trust coins that you never use for lapis is a good idea but then wouldn't trading them and keeping the UoCs be an even better idea? But .. but... shiny lapis...
Just watched the Howl analysis of the new summon system and he put an interesting spin on the UoC -> lapis event.
With a decent stock of UoC and planning to use 20 to 7* of a particular unit, you could still accomplish this by trading in 5 UoC for 10k lapis (first event only), 10 UoC for 15k lapis (follow-on events), and 8 UoC for the unit prism. So, you've spent 23 UoC for 25k lapis (1 lap on a step-up) and a unit prism. I guess it's not terrible, but still not as good a value as before. Obviously, it gets a lot more expensive the next time at 26 UoC tickets.
I don't know. Meta dps seem to last 3-6 months and sometimes longer. I'd rather save lapis during that time and selectively pull on step-ups and UoC as needed. That fits better for me.

This only works if the step-up is not a split banner or you happen to land on the up-side of the 50% chance to get the featured unit you want.
There's also the off chance you eventually just luck into the character you want with off-banner pulls, since they're not going to be limited like they are in JP.
This still leaves what they're doing with time limited holiday/colab units up in the air. Will they add prisms for them to the UoC shop? Or will they still just put a prism for them in the trust shop after an indeterminate amount of time? Unless they clarify before then, we'll find out in December or with the next collab unit, whichever comes first.
The more I think about it... starting from a base-line of zero resources with no spending..
It takes about 2 months to get enough lapis to do a full step-up. But it takes 4 months to get 8 UoCs.
I don't know what to do with that information but it makes me feel like UoCs are more valuable since I can basically double the number of chosen units I can get in a year if I can manage to swing 8 UoCs every 2 months instead of 4.
I'm sitting on 58 UoC as I haven't used a single one yet. I can see myself trading some for Lapis as I typically have enough Lapis to pull for units I want. I'm not even targeting a new unit until Vivi at this point.

Would have been nice for some updates to that system. I don't think I've bought anything with trust coins. And still haven't seen the Xenogears units show up...
I would love to get a Fei prism so i can finally get his STMR. I'm pretty sure I'll 7* Bart too for some imbue shenanigans since he provides a lot of elements. I had 37k trust coins so I bought one 5* EX to use when the CG Terra banner goes live next week. Who knows, I might off-banner Chair Rain. LOL
Had an urge to pull and, looking at my trust coin stockpile, I made a dumb decision - I bought the 3 4* tickets with trust coins (7500 trust coins down. Man. Dumb).
Second one gave me Godrea#2, which is what I wanted. Yay for stupid risks paying off!
