MM Xon will be super great for spreading around killers/elements as well. He seems like a perfect offensive support for DV

Apparently Esther's damage calcs (using her current rotation, current LB, with new mods/imperil numbers) places her damage below 20bil. If they calculate it with her original, pre-nerf LB her damage becomes ~23bil. That's a little underwhelming - lower than Edel and all of the new damage dealers (Ed, Gilgamesh, Esper units, who are all right around 30bil). Still, it's great for a year old unit that tons of people have and a bunch probably have the STMR for. If her new LB is stronger than its original values then even better.

Edit: Her optimal rotation may also change, so these are just rough rough estimates at the moment.

idk, she's at 9 billion now. Xuan is at 22 billion and is still destroying things. 16 billion is a bit low, but if they go with pre-nerf, 23 billion seems perfectly reasonable.

GUMI has kind of screwed up the power curve something fierce with Ed and Greg 2.0. Someone mentioned we've gone up 10 billion here in 2 months. I'd imagine anything in the 20 billion range will be good on content for a while.

Yeah, that's true. I mean hell, until the King Behemoth trial any damage dealer after Bartz is going to be fine, and even then the damage dealers capable of taking down that trial in under 20 turns (I think it is 20 for that mission) only came after the trial was released in JP (CG Kuja for one).

And even unenhanced Esther is capable of taking down recent trials. I watched Sinzar's Venomous Vines clear with her and the only thing that she really lacked was the SPR needed to survive the high damage rounds.

I guess overall I gotta remember not to think like the top-tier meta chasers because those top-tier damage dealers are a luxury, not a necessity

I'm a bit surprised GUMI hasn't thrown more GLEX "moose" like trials at us. Trials that have decent rewards like STMR tickets or UoC's but need someone over 20 billion to kill or it goes crazy and you lose. Sure fire way to get folks pulling more.

A teaser video has popped up in-game on JP side in preparation of their 4.5 year anniversary. It's teasing something called NeoVisions. More info on the 24th.

Looks like a new rarity? Is it time for the 8* meta? Or is thing something completely different?

It makes sense. 7* kind of screwed them as much as us. It used the same units as before, so they moved to CG units. But we’re pretty much out of those. So 8* units allow for another pass at FF characters.

Hopefully they learned from their mistakes and 8* are 8*. None of this “you need 2 units” junk.

I think that the only way to do 8* is to have something like this, where they start out as a different type of base unit. If this is the intro of 8* (or whatever nonsense they'll call it instead) then I have a feeling current 7* units won't be able to become 8* units for quite some time. Fresh, clean slate most likely.

Got the rare on Asura's Rod last night. 20% MP, 35% MAG, and 10% HP on a rod is pretty good. Also got the rare on Ultima Weapon this morning for a 30% ATK and 30% HP final run.

I like these new rates. I got a rare on Locke's Dagger along with 17% more HP. Got a rare on stage 2 for Iga Blade. While it's still rare, at least they are popping up more than once or twice in a week. I think I've gotten 4 so far.

Could always go down the job board route with new characters. Already have Esper & Arena Ticket boards, just reapply those to character-specific boards.

Broke down and got the Special Surprise bundle. Got the new Gilgamesh. He's limited, right? What the fuck do I do? I mean, he has an okay STMR, and he's strong, but not as strong as Edward. I'm not going to pull for him. Do I omni-prism him? And then get his STMR through STMR tickets?

You could. He'll be a good chaining partner for both physical and magical units (AMoE and CWA respectively) but he's 100% locked to ice damage. He'll be useful in DV for use on the ice team. His STMR is only slightly better than Nagi's STMR, but having both could be very nice for bolstering TDW units.

It appears he is limited. His STMR is pretty great if you don't have Nagi's STMR. One of the only TDW Mag materia's (other than Christine's, who was limited). He's slightly more damage than Edward but locked to Ice.

I've been throwing a ticket per day at the banner to see if I get a 2nd. If not, no worries, I use Ed, Xuan, or Op Z for most things anyways since they have more elements or utility. His TMR is interesting in case we get a heavy armored hybrid unit.

Just like Gilgamesh, I only have a single Nagi. The difference is that Nagi I can get through UoC tickets. 26 UoC tickets to get her STMR. 100 STMR tickets and 1 omni-prism to get Gilgamesh's STMR. 8 UoC tickets to get Malphasie's STMR.

[edit] I also have Christine's STMR. Most meta units will have some innate Mag TDW, so between Christine's STMR and one of the three STMRs listed above, I should be set. Which one do I pick, though? Malphasie's the cheapest, but Gilgamesh is limited and I feel like I would have wasted a 5* ticket if I didn't do something with him.

[edit] Though, if the UoC trade-in comes back, I essentially got him for free.

Personally I'd go with Malphasie's since I have more trouble filling accessory slots than materia. I also don't plan on chasing Greg 2.0 just because he's limited. I got him with one of the free pulls and such is this game. I don't really see myself using him or needing his STMR. Of course I have Nagi's STMR so that helps with my decision. On the flip side, you have a ton of resources, so maybe throw some tickets at his banner. He's a solo rainbow, so that helps.

The way I justified it was that Blue Gilg STMR will be BIS for TDW units for a very long time. I finally pulled 1 Nagi while pulling for Blue Gilg. I have Christine and Malphasie STMRs and I still went for it. In the end, I ran the 12k step-up where I got 1 copy, bought his prism, then used an STMR moogle. I still have 1 more STMR moogle in reserve. I expect we'll see another one during the anniversary.

  • TeaSpoonTeaSpoon Registered User regular
    I'll get both Gilgamesh's and Malphasie's STMR, I think.

When I need them. Which is to say, when I next need to use a TDW mage.

  • Trajan45Trajan45 Registered User regular
Or you could save the STMR ticket till you need his STMR. I'm not sure when the next meta TDW mage is coming. Tetra Physalis could use it but she's really weird with needing guns and spears. She really needs her STMR. CG Serah, is MTDH. I think the next one is CG Ace, which seems pretty far away. Of course we could get a GLEX unit here as well.

In anticipation of DV I 7*d, potted/door potted, and equipped my Cid. TDW, 2.8k ATK with 450% jump damage increase. I can pump that up some after maintenance if I can get good rolls on Kimahri's STMR, which has some ATK over Kain's Lance.

Edit: Wait, that should be a bit higher but I forgot to enhance his abilities and I'm pretty sure maintenance starts in like 2 minutes or else I'd do that now.

I'm excited to put Lucas and Sylvie together on a team. Together they cover Fire, Ice, Wind, Earth, Lightning, and Light imbues. Sylvie can also be a full evade/provoke tank, but I'd probably keep Kryla around for her imperils. Those three leaves room for two chainers and Cid, if I don't think I need a healer (likely won't for the early stuff). I can use Karten and eEsther for chainers (Frenzied Rampage + eEsther's LB for a crazy strong AR chain) and then cap that shit with Cid's jump. Overkill? I sure hope so.

Okay! 30K MK ticket was CP Noctis #1 (nice TMR) and 60K MK ticket was P.Cecil #4! So glad that IW is still running!

I fully awakened and enhanced my Cid as well. I still need to pot and door him, but he'll be rocking my best gear. I won't have time to run DV until later. It's going to take forever to get my teams setup.

Man, Esther's enhancements are kinda sad. The "upgraded" LB basically amounts to only 15% more LB damage. She's sitting at about 16.5bil which is under Beatrix of all people. Ah well, I'll still enhance her for use in DV but man, wish they had bumped her a bit more.

Fewest turns, maximum damage, max chains, and least damage to get max points. Easy!

I'm going to wait till I get a better understanding of DV here. I get that there are bosses, they have a weakness to Mag/Phy, one element, and killers of their type. So you want to put together a team to do as much damage as soon as possible. For Cid, that's turn 2. Also it seems you want to find ST chaining abilities as they can go into Overkill, vs AoE abilities will stop.

You want to set the correct team type for each of the slots to give a bonus to the "attacking" party. It's kind of weird. I think it will be a huge headache of gear and party member swapping, but the rewards look worthwhile. Not any worse than doing a mini-trial, just 5 in a day.

You only need to do each stage once (but you can redo any of them to get a higher score). Biggest headache will be setting up teams.

It's just a ton of information to digest. At first glance, I'm in the same boat, this looks way too complicated. But I think as information is condensed it'll be easier. Here's a bunch of info I've been collecting to help.

    Overview:

    Multiple Stages with different bosses.
Each with their own weaknesses to take advantage of.
    Uses Energy. (10/15/20 Energy/Stage)
    6 Units Party:

    Cannot bring a friend.
    Cannot have dupes.

Squads will have a bonus to a specific element (+20% Bonus, two squads per element is available)

Sadly thanks to ranking, there may be less folks posting how they are doing stuff. I'm already seeing it in discord, since if they post their load out, you'll infringe on their ranking.

The reality is that the ranking rewards are meh (5* tickets are not worth that much anymore given the pool). The only rewards that are worth anything are the Dark Matter and it only matters in that the higher the rank the sooner you'll max out the Sword and Rod. If you only get the individual rewards and not all the way through, you'll still probably be able to get one of the weapons in 6 months.

The main goal is pretty easy - kill the bosses as hard as you can quickly with no deaths. Each level switches DEF/SPR levels and weak elements, and you can change parties between levels. There's a table on Reddit that details each fight's weaknesses. So far it looks like CG Dark Fina, Esther, Tifa, AK Rain, and probably some of the FMA units all have levels where they will excel.

Also having a MM Xon to mirror killers across the team is a very strong tactic.

Oh wait Trajan45 covered most of that already. I am probably UOCing a MM Xon prism to do this thing.

Curious what people are using for Magic stages. Like physical is easy; bunch of chainers of some sort and then a Cid/Noctis/Regina/something to smash it.
Magic doesn't really have one of those. Other than the new Sakura or Roy but those are element-locked so doesn't always apply.
Like 1-2 is Dark.. I can't think of anything better than some breaks/buffs/killers and then as many CWA casters as I can gear.

Edit: is there a Hybrid finisher I'm forgetting?
