    FDA vs CDC

CDC probably hasn't updated. FDA does the label stuff, CDC just does the recommendations to the public.

Funny thing I clicked the FDA label site on it and it still matched the CDC. Because government is bad at internet.

I’ve been on and off PrEP a couple times, but only when I was cruising. There are reasons not to take it just in case as an addition to condoms, let alone in addition to condoms in a closed monogamous relationship. Namely, it has kidney and bone toxicities, and also it is often free/cheap for consumers after insurance and rebates but costs the health system a bunch of money because we’re dumb monsters about patents.

That being said, I haven’t looked up the most recent indications: maybe they’re going all in on PrEP for everyone, even people in closed relationships who use condoms (but that strikes me as insane but what do I know)

PrEP is really important for people who are raw doggin it on the regular and/or people where every now and then they get too drunk and oops just put it in (but then it’s okay because of that pill you take every day)

Vanguard is pissing me the fuck off. The feed we use to determine board positions doesn’t actually have good data for the board of Vanguard because of the way that ETFs are set up, they aren’t showing as a “real” company. I’m basically putting in my transition documentation “yeah... you gotta get the current board members from the about page on their website and look everyone up individually. Good luck w/ dat. Peace.”

Also yes, if you have an HIV positive partner who’s undetectable and continually medication compliant you don’t need condoms

U = U is the big public health slogan now (undetectable = untransmittable)

Between this, PreP, and if we every actually did proper like test and treat in high risk parts of the world also providing meds for cheap/free we could actually get really close to eradicating* HIV.

We don't because a shit ton of stupid reasons.

    But we could.

    And in our lifetime!

husband and I have been doing some monogamish cruising type stuff lately and honestly i think it has improved our relationship in surprising ways
we were talking about going on PrEP together but neither of us are very much into anal so I'm not sure the utility of it except as a safeguard
there is like no rule book for us so I never know if occasional cruising stuff would lead to a big fracture in our relationship but we talk it over a bunch and give permission and agree that if it causes jealousy or becomes problematic we stop
curious what all the chat thoughts are on this

Okay what if I exceed my budget by a chunk and really splurge on this:

    https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=7_1203_121&item_id=139248

Only a 512 SSD but I could manage

It's very cute and $150 off...

I think you'll be much more satisfied with this one

The literal ONLY THING is going up to 16 gb of RAM, but that's dependent on use case and might not even be necessary, and 8GB of DDR4 2400 RAM is fucking cheap.

I may even have 16 GB of 2600 DDR4 swimming around.

i looked at r/gaybros to see if there were other monogamish couples but nearly all posts were that if you cruised or didn't have a deep and loving connection with every man you met (not in a gay bar though, only through dating and classic heteroromantic tropes) then you were garbage

    r/gaybros is weird sometimes

In grad school I met one of the people who actually came up with test and treat. And his folks did a cost estimate. If we did the investment then (2012ish?) and continued it the overall cost to do it everywhere including Africa was well below the estimated cost of not doing for the same amount of time.

But the upfront bill was really high. And that was kind of pre-PreP really hitting the scene.

    I dunno

    Sounds risky

    Humans are naturally monogamous

We just aren't wired for multiple partners

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.

when I say no rule book for us I mean like
we already transgressed the big ones: don't be gay
so like part of queer life is making your own rules
but then I feel like I have betrayed our striving for gay marriage by also being monogamish
which is so stupid to feel that

    MATLAB is pretty fun actually

even though I am literally learning everything from scratch because I didn't even look at it until I absolutely have to, I am enjoying (slowly) figuring out how to do what each task asks of me - breaking it down into steps, then figuring out how to do each step

I'd probably enjoy this a lot more if I wasn't on a strict time schedule to finish all of it by tomorrow 23:59 also with time to do the 3d modelling and the lab, but hey
