2x Mark of the Isles
3x Pale Cascade

1x Glimpse Beyond
3x Stalking Shadows

1x Atrocity
3x The Harrowing
Other common inclusions are additional copies of Glimpse Beyond, Fading Memories, Hush, and Lunari Shadestalker. The new card Moonlight Affliction is probably also solid but I haven't seen it or tried it.
It's a decent ladder deck but it really excels in pick/ban lineups. It really only struggles against midrange decks with some of the chunkier units like Ashe/Sej, Fiora/Shen, or Ez/Draven which you can usually ban out. Meanwhile it has some incredibly one sided matchups into anything trying to survive off chump blockers in the early game like Go Hard, FTR, Deep, Tahm Raka, Lee Sin, etc.
Just finished the last of the Prismatic quests with a 7-win Expedition run (Sadly, it was after the first 3 reward runs. Boo!).
I'm pretty sure that this will be a slow, drip-feed process to Prismatic up the set. Not that I care that much, I'm just happy to get the cards at all.

went to mobalytics and looked through the meta decks. made some trynd/sej trample deck since i had a lot of the cards and only had to use a few wildcards. THIS THING FUCKS.
So I hadn't played the game really in a couple of months, but decided to log in the other day to check out the patch.
Saw a quest for "essence bag" or something where I had to play 150 rounds but only had 2 days to do it. Grinded it out finally (and had a good time playing) to get what seems an anticlimactic 25 whatevers.
Though after seeing the prismatic cards, they actually just look worse than the default frame which is quite beautifully designed. So I don't think I want any prismatics anyway.
Yeah, the prismatic stuff seems a bit underwhelming. I heard them mention in a podcast that they've been experimenting with different styles. Not that it matters much I guess.

They just look like silver bordered cards. There doesn't really seem to be any special artwork or anything to them.
Spent some time grinding ranked yesterday. It takes forever to go up through the ranks. i started at like iron3 and ended up at bronze1. Still making quite a few misplays with the deck, but getting a better feel for it. FUCK the card that silences minions.
I've been playing with a couple variants of Prankster Burn and having a really good time with it. The idea, in case anyone is unfamiliar, is to use Phantom Prankster and Neverglade Caretaker to generate a bunch of damage off dying allies, and using ephemeral critters to generate a lot of dying allies.
It really highlights an element of the game that I enjoy, which is that the order things trigger in makes a difference. I've had several games where I've been kicked down to a pretty low life total and been staring down a lethal attack that forces me to sacrifice my Pranksters and Caretakers or lose outright. But I've been able to turn those around by manipulating the order in which my blockers die, so even if I take lethal damage and all of my Pranksters die, it happens after they've dealt lethal to the enemy, so I win. It's a really neat and tense little puzzle to work out, and a major feel-good moment for me when it happens.
Probably not all that feel-good a moment for the other player, though.
The decks also win without going down to the wire a fair bit, too. I've tried mixing the core chunk of cards with other regions. Ionia was fun and got me access to a couple more ephemerals, but didn't feel amazing, and Freljord didn't feel like it did all that much other than getting me access to They Who Endure as a finisher. Probably the best two were Piltover/Zaun for Unstable Casks, and Demacia for Dawnspeakers and Radiant Guardians. The Demacia version has this weird dynamic where early game it sacrifices a ton of followers, only to transition to a more beatdown, less sacrifice-heavy strategy once the Guardians come out and the Dawnspeakers have done a bit of pumping. I keep winding up not being able to summon more ephemerals because my board is choked with beef. It's a weird spot, and sometimes awkward, but fun.
That sounds like one of the decks I keep running into. I'm terrible with all the names of cards, but it has the shark, the summon 3 ephemeral dudes, and the when stuff does drain 1 dudes, sometimes with grand plaza and the dude that makes ephemeral things get 1/1. Usually with lucian, hecarim, and or kallista. It's a pain in the ass for my deck because going wide around it is hard to deal with.

Yeah, that sounds in the same ballpark as mine. I haven't used Shark Chariot in a while, though I like it a lot. I should give Lucian a try: he and Kallista could be best good murderfriends.
Also, got my vault up to +2 capsules, so that's gonna be a nice bonanza tomorrow. Next deck I want to get the cards to experiment with is Bilgewater with as many powder kegs as I can manage. But it'll have to wait, since the only Bilgewater champs I have are Tam Kench and Nautilus, and only one copy of each.
I'm getting my Vault to level 12 today, but still have two 1,000xp quests remaining. Since Vault day is tomorrow, it's best to not complete them today. Normally I don't care that much, but that's a lot of XP to lose on the next Vault.

Targon's Peak is a bit too much RNG. It basically removes player skill, which isn't healthy at all. It needs a major rework to a different ability or maybe make the mana reduction 5 or something.

i got my vault to 13 today. but after that it still lets you get experience and just says +1. anyone know what that means? is it like an extra chest or does it just let you get a jump start on next week? i dont really have time to grind out more tonight. Also it is disappointing that when youre in the beginning of a new region's reward track, the game shows that you are getting bonus xp but it doesn't apply the bonus xp to the vault.
im like 1 win from silver 1 now. i hope this week's vault is better than last week.

After 13, each level provides one extra Capsule. From the devs:
"Beyond Level 13, unlock additional, unlimited capsules, each of which contains at least 3 Rares and 2 Commons, with a chance to upgrade to an Epic or Champion Capsule"

Got a little over 2000 shards in my vault. None of the individual cards were super memorable, unfortunately: it felt like I was landing a lot of Demacia stuff that was getting converted to shards. But the shards are really what I wanted: I really like the expedition format, so I want the 2000 shard entry fee alongside the expedition token to guarantee at least two runs at the thing. Now to resist the urge to DO the expedition until I have time to sit and focus on it.
I got 2.6k Shards and 4/4/3/1 in a mix of new cards and Wild card upgrades. Missing 60 Commons, 51 Rares, and 12 Epics from the CotM set. I might start plugging away at crafting things with my abundance of resources, but only when I want to try out the appropriate decks.

It wasn't the greatest vault for me. Got 1 epic and it was just a Go Get It.
In awesome news. I had a quest to deal quick strike damage. So I built a deck with like all the quick strike dudes I have. So it ended up being as couple lucian's and his girl, zed, and a couple burst spells that give quickstrike. I just threw a bunch of random stuff to fill out the deck. It also has shyvana fiora, and garen and a bunch of 1 of epics that I have and some cheap creatures to buff and block early. It's a pile of jank. But I've been murdering people in non ranked. The best win was easily the play fiora on my turn and pass because my opponent had a full board of undying type stuff. He attacked with everything and I pumped fiora +2/+2 then blocked and cast judgement which ended the game right there. All 3 of those cards were 1 ofs and it was magical.
It's terrible but if someone wants to play it for the lulz or something ...
My vault had a Shen in addition to a hero wildcard, so that was a nice surprise! Heroes are still slow to come by, but otherwise my collection is starting to bulk up
Ya I have a feeling lots of my gems are going to go towards champs. They are so much harder to get compared to others. Epics are a little rough, but aren't always as important.
Yeah, Champions are the hardest thing to get. As of this expansion, there are 144 Champions to acquire. You start with 16 and get 5 per region track (4 random Champions + 1 Wild Card). That means, you'll naturally 56 Champions for just playing, leaving 88 to acquire on your own. At 1 free Champion Wild Card per week from the Vault, it can be quite a grind.
But that number isn't as daunting as it seems. Every card, capsule and chest reward has a chance to upgrade to a Wild Card or higher rarity. While the percentages aren't high, they do happen enough for you to get lucky. Here's a chart with the estimated upgrade percentages (might be out of date by now):
Also, make sure you're playing at least one Expedition per week using your free token. It's a guaranteed Epic Capsule, which can upgrade to a Champion Capsule. At the very least, you'll build up your Epic collection.
Finally, you'll also find that you just won't care for certain Champions. Maybe you don't care for Lulu or Anivia's playstyle, well that's less Champions to dump Wild Cards into. And all of this doesn't include using your Shards to craft Champions (at a pricy 3k each).
As a beta player, I'm lucky to have everything and an overstock of stuff. I can tell you that there comes a point after a few months of playing where you just start piling up resources. More cards in the Vault become Shards, which you turn to Champions, and the collection grows even faster.
Anyway, happy holidays everyone!

I got wrecked by the mf/quinn + grand plaza deck a bunch tonight. There's like zero counterplay with current removal. You just die to all the scouts forcing you to repeatedly block while mf adds a ton of extra damage to your blockers.
Also I forgot that I ran into mncdover in a lab a couple days ago. I was playing the precon KDA deck with jinx, went all in and you had like 3 burn spells to survive .

Oh wow, do we get matched up? Sorry about the burn game. I usually just pilot a aggro/burn with the +1/+1 power and wipe people out hard.
MF/Quinn recently got featured on Swim's YT page and is on his tier one page. It pilots pretty easy and has an easy mulligan. As much as I love the Grand Plaza, I think it could use a nerf to either: not provide a health buff (minor nerf) or not provide bonuses to summoned units (big nerf).

Agreed that Shadow Isles seems to be the tough customer right now: I feel like when I get rolled that Shadow Isles and/or Bilgewater are usually involved. They both put so much pressure on you, so fast, with so much removal.
I climbed into Gold over the break with a Demacia Elites deck, but I've kind of stalled out now due to a bunch of Bilgewater decks that shoot, just, SO many bullets at me, or Targon decks that outpace me with bgi ol' monsters even my brave Demacians can't beat. Not sure where to tinker the deck to next to stay competitive.
Unranked, though, I've been having a grand old time with Overgrown Snapvine. I think it's too slow to really make any headway in ranked: there's often a turn where I play the Snapvine, but they have a chance to kill it before I can take advantage of it. Maokai can help a bit with that since he creates a sapling as soon as I play the Snapvine, but I still wind up crossing my fingers and passing priority a lot. It's a ton of fun when you get a board full of Snapvines, though, so definitely worth it.
Man I've been trying to play the zoe/lee deck today and it just seems bad. It has been crap against so many things. At least the overwhelm deck can just slam down something big and make them deal with it. This deck is often way behind on board by the time lee can come down. And without zoe leveling up there really isn't a way to give lee trample for the big super combo kill.
I would just like everyone to know that I have two prime glory, which is one more prime glory than Yilias. Gauntlets are very odd though, you see some very strange decks in there.

While I haven't piloted the Zoe/Lee deck, I've faced it a lot. The biggest takeaways I have from winning and losing to it, is the consistency of drawing and protecting Lee. He shouldn't be dropped unless you can level him within one turn. Never drop him without mana to protect him, unless you have another in hand. Once you get a Zenith Blade on him, the game is all but over.
Zoe isn't actually necessary to level in order to win. She brings in some chip damage and card advantage. The spell(s) she generates fuels the Lee win condition. Plus she will make your opponent waste resources to remove her, which helps Lee out even more.
Here's Hawktie playing the deck. Give it a look and see if you can pick up any protips.
I was wondering why hawktie looked familiar. he used to stream magic as todd stevens until he got banned from SCG stuff and later magic for sexual harassment stuff.

Yeah, Zoe is basically the new Teemo, but in Targon. You don't play her as a real Champ, you play her as a beefy 1-drop with elusive that generates spells that the opponent feels like they have to kill. Her level-up is irrelevant.
And yeah, Lee is a unit you basically only play for the level-up. It's why the cost reduction they gave him shot him from shit-tier to top-tier almost instantly. As a cheaper unit you can play him and then spells to support him in the same turn. Having him on the board early generally doesn't do much for your win condition. He's there for a 1-turn KO combo.
My win rate went up a bit today. It seems like a lot of games just end up being protect/grow a sparklefly. Lee finishes some games, but I've needed to go all in on the fly a lot just for the lifegain. And I've yet to live the dream of getting both hero's leveled playing the invoked trample creature and popping someone for 20 with lee.
I don't know who was streaming it, but I faced back-to-back Overgrown Snapvine decks. I was playing Swim's Zoe/TF Nab deck.
My first four turns were: 1) Develop Zoe + attack, 2) bank 2 mana, 3) Attack w/Zoe, play Black Market Merchant nabbing a Overgrown Snapvine(reduced to 6) then played Pilfered Goods to get Hapless Aristocrat and Barkbeast (both 0 cost), and 4) played a Spacey Sketcher and saw Moonsilver...and it all became clear.
LOL! I went all in and was left with 2 surviving Snapvines. I defended on turn 6 and this was my turn 7:
30 damage on 6 units with 4 spell mana to double Pale Cascade for lethal. Thanks for the win condition!
